Ho’omana Spa Maui

OH MY GOSH! We fell in LOVE with this place and the people that work here. My wife and I had a couples retreat massage that was worth every penny. We did this on our last day in Maui and were so happy.
Meggie was my therapist.
The retreat started with us picking out products. For the bath I chose the lavender bath salts, for the scrub I chose the passion fruit sugar scrub and for the massage butter I believe I chose lavender.
The retreat started with beautiful side by side stone baths that were so romantic and perfect in the outside bathhouse. We relaxed in them for about 25 minutes and were then called into the massage therapy room and first we received the sugar scrubs which we heavenly and the table was heated so that was amazing. Then we got our incredibly sacred and therepeutic lomi lomi massages with special hot stones for our feet. The Lomi Lomi began with a sacred prayer chant in Hawaiian that was so beautiful and the strokes melted away all my tension. I felt refreshed and so relaxed during and after.
We ended up buying some of the products and there was absolutely no pressure to buy either! We just really loved them.

Hands down, the best experience of my life! Thank you Mother Goddess for such a beautiful place.

This place is a special gem, nestled on the side of Haleakala volcano in the middle of the ocean… what a spot to receive a massage, let go of old tensions of all kinds, and reconnect with one’s relaxed and happy self. My friend and I both were very happy with the massage therapists who worked with us. The locally made products are a luxurious treat. And most of all the family traditions that guide the massage techniques are a gift to all of us. Thank you, ladies of Ho’omana!

This spa is in a beautiful location, though frustrating to find as it is up in the hillside with no street numbers. The therapist was skilled in lomi lomi massage and i enjoyed the experience, until the end, when they set products used in my massage (made on the premises and displayed in the waiting room) very obviously at the checkout spot «in case i wanted to buy them». then the checkout person asked if i wanted to take care of the therapist’s tip along with my payment for services. i have never had anyone be pushy about the tip in that way and i found it offensive. sour ending…

What a wonderful place, not easy to find but once you are there you will forget about everything and like me not want to leave. This spa is not a fancy hotel spa with a load of people waiting for their appointments, this lovey day spa in located on your way up to the high country. It’s beautiful, quite, relaxing and so much more, as soon as you walk in you know this spa is different from any other, the greet you and offer you something to drink while you sit with you masseuse and pick out the oil they will be using for your massage.
I had the Lomi Lomi massage, something I had never had before and I was great, my masseuse (I am sorry I don’t remember her name but was wonderful) even knew I was having problems with my shoulder and back, she worked on it so hard and for the rest of the time I was in Maui I never had any pain.
After the massage the offer you some wonderful tea and I just relaxed until I wanted to leave, what a wonderful experience, one that I will never forgot and if I am every in Maui again I will return for my Spa Day.
If you are visited or live check this place out the next time you want a massage, the only thing I would suggest for the owner is to put a better sign out on the road, GSP doesn’t really work in the area and I ended up being 10 minutes late for my appointment because I couldn’t find the house, once I called and was told about the dolphin sign then I was able to find it, other that that this place is a gem.

Went for a bachlorette party, it was so perfect. There were 6 of us so we opted to all be in the yoga studio. We weren’t entirely sure about this decision, but it was great. Brunch was delicious too!

It’s not a tourist trap. It’s a mindful place with genuine people and great service.
My husband got the deep tissue massage and I had the lomi lomi massage. We were both blissed out!
I ended up buying lots of their homemade oil blends as gifts. $ 15 is a steal!

Amazing Maui experience and reasonably priced. The winding road through Makawao makes it feel like a hidden gem. The spa house seems to be converted from an old Maui house, which gave it an immediately comfortable welcoming feel. But the «homey-​ness» stops there. It’s a real professional spa and you’re immediately relaxed by the atmosphere, complimentary lemongrass tea, and choices of aromatherapy and body butter for your massage. My fiancé and I got a couples massage lomi lomi style from Heather and Khadija. We were perfectly relaxed afterwards. We hung out on the porch while the rain pitter-​pattered down, sipping lemongrass tea and eating chocolates.

Such a wonderful gem! Beautiful space. Relaxing, caring, calm environment and fantastic massage.

I come to Maui every year and just found this place. Had a wonderful Lomi Lomi massage from Maureen. Wonderful secluded resort (more like a converted house) but low key, excellent oils, I really feel healed. Great experience some of the highlights were her focus on my forearms and legs. Thank you

Wow. I treated myself to a birthday present on my vacation and was super happy with my session. Heather gave me a WONDERFUL treatment, 90 minutes of traditional LomiLomi. Everything was magical. I am an experienced bodyworker, acupuncturist and teacher of massage and had always been interested in this style. The owner of the spa, Jeana, came out to greet me while I walked around the property. She had been teaching classes and had a full class of students in the adjacent building. I could tell right away that she has her heart in the right place. Her spa came recommended by several locals, it’s a pretty drive. I’m definitely getting another session when I come back. Happy to support the good work they are doing!

As an end to our 9 day vacation, i booked the couples package for the husband and myself. It was the perfect conclusion to an excellent vacation. The property is very relaxing and calm and peaceful. The herbal bath felt very luxurious. One thing that i loved about this spa was their use of fresh flowers and herbs into everything –it feels very earthy and yet pampered. We upgraded to the hot stone massage, and it was excellent. Would definitely recommend it to people. We stayed in Kihei but i m lucky to have found it and driven to Makawao for the spa. I think its the best kept secret of maui.

My boyfriend and I made our first trip to Hawaii in April 2015. We spent ten days altogether, visiting Oahu first for a few days and then most of the trip on Maui. I have been to a number of spas in the past and this one was terrific. Since I am not familiar with the area or island, I looked at
for reviews and this location seemed to have good reviews (over 41 reviews at the time).
My boyfriend’s birthday was April 5, so I decided to get us a couple’s massage for his birthday gift, knowing that we would be on Maui a number of days into our trip and that our bodies might be sore from the plane travel from Minneapolis, along with the inter-​island flights, shuffling luggage, etc. Specifically, I got us the Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian) massage and we had a great time.
I read one review after booking our massages that mentioned that one customer had booked an herbal bath prior to their massage, which really helped to loosen up their muscles. I called the spa back after booking and I asked them if we could schedule the bath. They were very friendly and accommodating. There were three different baths to select from (I believe) and we were given descriptions and benefits of each type. We chose the relaxation bath.
One thing to note– since we have never been to Maui, we were a little unsure if we had missed the spa on the road driving there. We had iPhones and used GPS to guide us to the location, but it did take us on some rural roads past the small town of Makawao (2 – 3 miles approximately). We were a little nervous if we were going in the right direction, but ultimately we were. It is a cute spa nestled with some foliage– trees, plants, on the property in the hills.
The house itself is clean, airy, and has a good energy. The massage therapists allowed us to pick our massage body oil scents out, along with some body mists. We were able to do the baths in this cute bathhouse that had two tubs, separated by a couple sinks. It was luxurious, romantic, private, and just a few steps away from the room where we had our massages. We received a gentle knock on the door at the end to tell us we had five minutes to towel off, slip into our robes and slippers, and walk the 20 or so feet to the room where we would have the massages. Five minutes was more than enough time for us and we did not feel rushed.
The two massage therapists (Meggie and Jocelyn) were friendly and asked if they could open up the massage session with a Hawaiian song or chant to open the energy. We said yes and it was short, but nice, welcoming.
Unfortunately, I was previously rear ended in a previous motor vehicle accident and suffered from whiplash, low back and neck strain and these were targeted areas during my massage. My boyfriend didn’t have any specific target areas, but we both enjoyed our massages. Both were very relaxing. We also drove the Road to Hana the day prior and hiked up some waterfalls and in the Bamboo Forest (four mile round trip hike up hill). My calves were sore from wearing not-​so-​great hiking shoes and the massage helped this area as well.
In sum, I would definitely recommend to those visiting Maui to experience the Road to Hana, hike, do more physical activities first, and then follow it up by a half day spent around Makawao at this spa resort. After the massage, my boyfriend and I got a great sushi lunch in downtown Makawao and walked the main street, shopping in the main street’s boutiques. There were other restaurants nearby, including an Italian restaurant and a general store. We also followed the massage up by visiting the nearby Lavender Farm and walking the grounds, sightseeing the plants and island views.
My boyfriend and I would give this massage 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only thing preventing us from giving it 5 stars might be the price (but we are from the Midwest, US where prices are a bit cheaper). I also noticed that our massage was a few minutes shorter than what we paid for. I am not sure what is typical though in the industry. I am used to getting a massage for the full time paid for and then dressing after (which takes additional time). The spa may have factored in additional time for changing clothes before the bath tub time, after the tub time, and after the massage. A few minutes were cut off from the tub and massage times, but overall, in the grand scheme of things, an excellent experience to do.

We were leaving Maui at 10pm this day and wanted a relaxing mid-​afternoon experience to cap off our vacation. We also wanted to be freshly showered with clean clothes on for the trip. Going to Ho’omana was such a good idea! We both had pleasant 90 minute Lomi Lomi treatments that we both enjoyed immensely. Our therapists were kind, polite and skilled.
One note: this spa does a moderate hybrid type of Lomi Lomi with draping similar to what you might have during a Swedish massage. More modest clients who are comfortable with that level of draping will probably be comfortable with this treatment too, and still experience new delightful sensations.

Aloha serenity, zen, and peace. Ho’omana stands for empower yourself, and that is exactly how I felt leaving this place. The positive and relaxing energy here is definitely a treat to rejuvenate yourself and truly feel like you are on vacation.
I was very excited to partner with Ho’omana Spa Maui for a lovely spa experience. I was up at 2am that morning to see the Haleakala sunrise followed by a bike ride so you can imagine how much I was looking forward to this after an early adventure!
Ho’omana Spa offers a variety of spa rituals, lomi lomi massages, herbal bath soaks, body treatments, and facials. They also offer retreats throughout the year for training. What makes them stand out from others is that their treatments are drawn from Hawaiian teachings and practices, bringing a more authentic experience physically and spiritually.
The space: We were driving up a mountain in a residential area as the spa is located in a quiet, secluded place surrounded by natural beauty. There is plenty of parking available and you are greeted with a stunning space filled with fruit trees and greenery. The space is the perfect getaway, there is a sense of peace that envelopes you throughout the spa grounds. The spa has a large lobby with different homemade products. There is an outdoor patio with a bathhouse for two which was very special. It is a private bathhouse that fits two tubs, perfect for privacy and relaxation in the mountains of Maui. They have multiple rooms with comfortable space, some with private bathrooms and another fit for couples. Everything was very clean and welcoming.
I was provided a cozy bath robe and slippers before heading to the private bath house. We received a 30 minute bath soak and each tub was already filled with warm water, beautiful flower water, and a little bag of delicious smelling herbs like lavender to soak the tub in. The bath experience loosened up my muscles perfectly before the massage.
I received their signature Lomi Lomi massage treatment which includes a mini hot stone foot massage and a coconut rosemary scalp treatment. Meggie started off with a Hawaiian chant which was surprisingly very relaxing. She was very knowledgeable in each area as she targeted each area I had more tension and would check in to make sure the pressure is ok. She used interesting techniques I’ve never experienced before. My body was melting into relaxation and it happened too fast!
The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were clean and welcoming. Overall, it is an experience I would highly recommend for an authentic and rejuvenating Hawaiian experience. Mahalo Ho’omana Spa for a beautiful experience!

I surprised 2 of my friends with an afternoon in upcountry. I thought this place might be the serene escape we were looking for, but even I was completely surprised at how magical the spa really was. Our massage therapists were incredibly talented and instinctive to our needs. It was our first experience with Lomi Lomi and we are all now big fans of this technique. The prices are completely fair, and the smiles and service you receive are better than any cookie cutter «spa» you could think of. This place is out of this world.

Located in a secluded mountain area. Peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.
Order a couple massage. It included a hot bath, a sugar scrub, and massage.
The massage therapist was very helpful on pin pointing stress areas. She focused on areas that i wanted more attention on. Very relaxing massage!
The only issue i had was that they only had one couples bath house. We came with another couple so it became quite inconvenient because they had to wait until we finished before they can start their session.

Hawaii has a great and long tradition of massage called lomilomi. Loving massages and wanting one on my Maui vacation, I sought out an authentic lomilomi. No doubt, the nice spas, particularly at the luxury resorts would offer terrific massages, but I could get something similar at home. Even the ones they call lomilomi usually fall short of the real thing and are a derivation of Swedish.
After consulting some lomilomi practitioners I knew, I was led to Ho’omana Spa. Turned out to be perfect. Beautiful, quiet setting and a true lomilomi massage. My fiancée were massaged in a couples room side by side, each by a terrific therapist.
It’s a bit off the beaten path in Maui, but a beautiful drive to upcountry and afterwards we enjoyed the town of Makawao.

We started our Maui holiday with a wonderful massage at this amazing place! Both me and my husband had a Hawaiian herbal tea bath and an 80mn lomi-​lomi massage. What a treat! Khadija found knots I didn’t even knew I had! It was all so relaxing and the massage really helpt to bring awareness into my body, while still feeling pampered :-) Both Khadija and Heather were amazing!

We found this jewel of a spot during our vacation to Maui this summer, and could not have been more delighted with the experience.
My deep tissue Lomi Lomi massage was the best massage experience I’ve ever had. My masseuse was Hillary, and she expertly found muscles and tension in my back that I didn’t even know could be released.
The location is stunningly gorgeous, and they also run a training program for the traditional Hawaiian massage techniques of Lomi Lomi. Everyone we met was wonderful, welcoming, and and expert in their field.
We made a day of it and visited the town of Macawao on our drive up, and it was the best day of the whole trip.
