Hampton Inn & Suites Mahwah

By far the nicest staff I have ever encountered at any hotel!!! They are so accommodating! The pool is always very warm & the maids are incredibly thorough! The parking is easily accessible & breakfast is hot. We are so happy with our 4 night stay here!

This Hampton Inn needs some work. The staff is very friendly but the overall amenities aren’t that great. There’s no fridge in the room and the shower floods water everywhere because the shower curtains are too short. Additionally, the continental breakfast is less than pleasant for a Hilton owned hotel. Also, half of the treadmills appear to be broken.
Finally, all of the guests were awoken by a fire alarm at 4:00AM because the staff caused a grease fire in the kitchen. I wouldn’t have written this review except for the fact that no fire trucks arrived and the fire chief that did come on site seemed shady about the cause of the alarm. I’m going to guess that the alarm was pulled after the fire was put out and and the fire department was called. It should be the other way around.

Don’t Bother. I stayed here recently for a wedding. The first day everthing was fine… decent facility, decent rooms, everything clean. The next day, a marching band arrived and made the rest of my stay a living hell. The Hotel was completely understaffed to deal with the young band members and had to rely on the chaperones to deal with noise complaints… not a good idea. I recommend you go to the Marriott Fairfield Inn just down the street. We moved there and had a restful stay.

Usually love to stay at Hampton Inn Hotels. However this time it doesn’t live up to my expectations. First night I informed front desk that my toilet seat was broken and was told it will be addressed in the morning as maintenance is not here at night. I was fine with that. Today My Family and I left the Hotel at 9am and the cleaning person was cleaning the room a few doors down from me. When we returned at 3pm our room was NOT Cleaned yet. I informed the front desk. She said she would call the Housekeeping Manager. The desk than call me back in my room to tell me the cleaning person was on the second floor and will come down to clean my room. So after a long day in the hot sun at the outlets I needed to now leave the hotel and find something to do till they cleaned my room. So we went to my daughters College Campus to hang out and relax in her room being we couldn’t relax in our hotel room. When we returned our toilet seat was still broken which we informed the front desk again and was told the same thing it will need to be addressed tomorrow as maintenance is not here overnight. Great but that does us no good as we leave in the morning. Seems like maybe we need to go back to Fairfield Inn & Suites up the road now on. Sad because we actually like Hampton Inn Hotels.

Hotel room was great, comfortable bed, clean. However, when I went to iron a shirt the iron had something in it that put little rust stains all over the front of my shirt. When I told the front desk that their iron ruined my shirt, all I got was an apology, no offer to clean it or replace it…

Five Stars for Hampton Inn!
Okay, okay, I know the rating is 4 stars — but the negative one is for the hard time we had getting there.
This was our first stop on a road trip from Richmond, VA to upstate NY. Route 17 is a terrifying road, impossible to navigate. Once you make it to the hotel though, the five stars kick in!
The hotel was very clean. Our room had two queen beds, rather than two double beds — a nice bonus for the four of us when we realized. Checkout was at noon, and the room was nice and queit.
My experience here has certainly made Hampton Inn my new hotel of choice where ever I go.

Excellent stay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff! We love Hamptons! Appreciate the standard of excellence with the brand, we always feel comfortable and relaxed when we stay at a Hampton Inn. We had some medical emergency with a family member and the staff went to unexpected measures to make our stay more comfortable.

I stayed for 3 nights, friendly staff everywhere. Breakfast on the salty side but love the waffle maker and plenty of drinks to choose from. Laundry room has 1 washer 1 dryer, $ 2.50 altogether for both cycles.
Did I mention the washroom with no fan ventilation? 3 and a half stars.

This hotel was very clean and cozy. The continental breakfast was decent they offered: cheese omelets, waffles, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, cereal, coffee and juice and then some. I thought breakfast was very generous. The staff was friendly and great! The hotel offers shuttle service which runs fast. My room was nice and clean and they even point out they wash their duvets on cute little post-​its (makes me wonder do other hotels NOT wash theirs) .
I would stay again :-)

The room and hotel were fine (for what they were) but the pool situation was a complete joke. Went down for a dip at 6:30 PM and the place was crawling with kids and several swim instructors. (One of the many moms watching the proceedings saw us walk in and immediately scrambled to grab the only free chair surrounding the rather tiny pool.) Someone standing nearby was nice enough to explain that the hotel makes extra money by renting the pool out for kiddie swim classes (something that apparently keeps the small, enclosed pool area full of kids and their parents from the afternoon until something like 8 PM). When I asked the folks behind the front desk when the hotel guests could start using the pool they politely told us that the swim instructors would move all their swimmers «to the right side of the pool» if we wanted to use it (something they certainly showed no sign of doing when we walked in). I suppressed a laugh as I envisioned the dirty looks that would have initiated, not to mention the possibility of being hit over the head with a plastic chair. Hmmmm, wonder why the hotel didn’t mention this in their ads?

Fitness center was the best yet, had free weights as well.

Hotel is clean and nice, staff is friendly, but they lose a star since the internet at this location is awful. This makes it very hard to use this hotel for business. I cannot stay connected to work from my room.
