1488 Collision

Bought a used car. It needed the roof and trunk repainted. I brought it in and asked one of the three gentlemen sitting at the front desk if someone could give me an estimate. The gentleman came outside looked at the car and said we don’t do that kind of work. I was surprised and so I asked what he meant. He said that I was asking them to do restoration and they do collision repair. I said, I need you to paint the roof and trunk, not restore the car. He laughed and said, «Honestly it would cost us money to even bring that car into our shop.» I explained that I did not understand what the difference would be in painting wrecked car or painting a non wrecked car. It’s a paint job either way right? He again laughed and said that they don’t do that kind of work. He walked away with out a hand shake or really before the conversation was really even over. For the record, it was a 2006 BMW 750Li. It’s a very nice car and I was prepared to pay what ever it cost. It’s not as though I was asking for a favor or a discount or anything. I got the impression that they are pretty fat and happy with insurance work and so they really don’t care much about non-​insurance work. Seems to me if that is the case they should hang a sign out front saying so. So if you need a paint job DO NOT BOTHER THESE GUYS, as they clearly have better things to do. If you’re desperate for that paint job and you have good insurance perhaps you could strike the vehicle a few times with a large hammer or find a sturdy brick wall to hit, while you’re driving over. These guys are WAY TO BUSY for good manners or for anything other than the easiest of money. Poor way to do business. I won’t forget it.
