Meet the Manager

Manager

John Birbaum started with Union Transfer and Storage in 1979, worked part time as a mover and helper in the old Union Transfer and Storage warehouse at 155 E. Wilson St. in Madison. He trained with the local moving crews, drove straight truck and then tractor trailer hauling Mayflower customers across the country. He later moved into the office and managed operations and staffing. Mr. Birbaum bought out the existing ownership in 1999 and moved operations into our current location at 5034 Voges Rd. Madison, in 2001. A 36,000 square foot heated warehouse facility, Union Transfer and Storage Inc. is an approved military moving storage facility, approved for University of WI contract moves, a State of WI and a federally approved vendor. We have been a Mayflower agent in Madison since 1932 and locally owned and operated since 1893.
