True Event

Sarah and Caitlin were truly amazing! They were able to execute all of the details of our wedding impeccably and provided numerous incredible vendor suggestions. Their patience and demeanor just made the planning process and particularly the day of the wedding so much easier and more relaxing! On the day of their wedding, I was not aware of a single thing not going the way we planned thanks to their coordination. I would highly recommend working with them for your wedding or event. They are not only organized, knowledgeable, and efficient but just the sweetest, calmest people to work with during the craziness of wedding planning.

I just sat and watched Alexandra and Mark’s wedding from this past Summer, It brought back such wonderful memories. Not just of the day, but of the months and weeks before the wedding.
Sarah and Caitlin helped us plan a wedding that was suddenly going to be taking place at our home when the venue we secured, suddenly closed. They took such good care of us, working with what we had already planned and added touches we needed having at home.
This wedding was magical, and I have True Event to thank for so much of that

Caitlin from True Event helped me plan my 160 person wedding in a relatively short amount of time (6 months). She assisted every step of the way — everything from event design and coordination, to vendor referrals, to welcome bags, to transport. Day-​of, Caitlin made sure things ran so smoothly that I did not waste a single second worrying about anything other than savoring every moment. It is because of her that my husband and I have so many happy, carefree memories of our special day.
More than that, Caitlin was an absolute joy to work with — responsive, organized, thoughtful, honest and sweet as can be. I honestly could not have pulled everything together without her input, guidance and hard work! Thank you Caitlin & True Event!

I waited to write this review 2 years after my wedding because I had a lot to say and wasn’t sure how to put it together. I was so taken aback and disappointed with Sarah True that I honestly was not looking forward to having to relive it. Despite my anger at how unprofessional Sarah was, I hope this review can be constructive for her and any bride that uses her in the future.
First, my review is HIGHLY similar to the review by Rebecca C. I had the same exact experience. I have to say it was quite the experience to see my exact experience described by someone else. I pretty much echo EVERYTHING she said-​especially about her lack of responsiveness, and her absolute lack of follow through. Here is my summary:
1. I was planning an RI wedding from California and so hired Sarah True to help with the details. I designed the event, but she was supposed to follow through with orders and coordinating w/​the vendors. She NEVER followed through with the orders, and because of this, I lost out on items that I had specifically chosen (silverware, linens, etc.) That was her ONLY job.
**Each time I told her i was disappointed she hadn’t followed through and I lost out on the order I wanted, she would say, «Oh well I like this linen/​silverware better.» I had to tell her that while this might be the case, I had chosen what I wanted, and it was extremely disingenuous to just respond with an oh it doesn’t matter because I liked another option better?!
2. Sarah True never responded to emails-​never. She had to be reminded to follow through with something 5 to 7 times-​no joke. And when she did respond, her emails were rude, entitled, and abrasive.
3. I designed my ENTIRE wedding on my own. Thank god i knew what i wanted bc Sarah True had NOTHING to offer in regards to décor/​design help.
**THE WORST: my wedding was submitted and accepted to be featured in a bridal magazine and on style me pretty, as well as on Sarah True’s website. She had the audacity to first put on her website that she was the event designer-​when she had not contributed ONE bit to the design of my wedding. I immediately emailed her to take it off which she did-​i guess she wanted to attempt to get credit for my design in case i didn’t notice. I was shocked and appalled by this.
The same thing happened on style me pretty-​I had to email the editors to remove true event as event designer, which they did.
4. Lastly, it should be noted that when I finally got angry over the phone w/​her because of missing out on the second item I wanted because she forgot about calling them, she said maybe we should «part ways» because I wasn’t happy with her lack of follow through… Well believe me sarah, if I could take back hiring you, I would! Unfortunately with 2 months to go before my wedding, that wasn’t option.
I hope that future brides are happier with Sarah, I do hope that reviews like Rebecca and mine help her constructively work on her service. It certainly needs all the help it can get.

I’m a ⁰⁹⁄₂₀₁₁ bride that hired Sarah of True Events. Given that I hired her largely based on reviews, I think it’s important that I share my personal experience with other brides.
In the start, I was really excited to be working with Sarah and had high expectations. I had gone on her website, blog, facebook, etc and looked through all the beautiful pictures. We spoke on the phone and I called 3 of her references. Everything sounded great. I made it clear to her that I had a very demanding job and would rely very heavily on her. My job also required me to work in Europe from May-​June which meant that things that could maybe be left until later in the planning process needed to be done ahead of time (unless, of course, I didn’t mind going with any old vendor and having this just completed for the sake of being completed). Sarah assured me everything would be completed on time.
But, what I was told and what actually happened were two very different stories. Early on, I started sensing she was not as dedicated to my wedding as maybe I had hoped she would be. I would send her emails/​photos of items I liked/​items/​colors/​décor/​etc. None of those emails were answered. As I imagine many brides do, I made excuses for her…“oh, she’s just busy and my wedding is not for several months…,” «I’m asking too many questions, she probably just doesn’t have time right now but will respond when she has time,» etc. Then, I’d notice when we did speak, she could not remember anything about my wedding. For example, she forgot I had already hired a photographer and officiant. Those are minor issues, but at least for me, I wanted to feel like my planner only had my wedding – whether or not that was the case.
For wks/​mnths, I made excuses for her. I would tell my friends about our calls (calls where I would literally have to repeat what I said the week after and then hear her say she was «still working» on whatever the task was) and they would tell me to just stop working with her but I was too scared given it was only 3 – 4 months before the big day.
I went to London for work in May. She promised me we would have the «inspiration board» secured prior to my departure, but that didn’t happen. I realize I am extremely type A and couldn’t expect someone to work in the exact manner as myself. However, things just never got done. To give you an example, my fiancé and I had requested our invitations be completed the week following my return to the US. I didn’t want to constantly harass Sarah about the status of our invitations so I just didn’t say anything and let her run with it (as she agreed to do). Upon my return, I reached out to her regarding the invitations. No word. I followed up… still no word. Then, finally, days later, she tells me she thinks I should work directly with the designer to «speed up» the process. Umm… I’d be happy to… but why did she wait until the last minute to tell me she needed me to wrap things up? Finally, after I harassed the crap out of our invitation designer to rush things along, I asked Sarah to review the «final draft.» Sarah said all looked good. except that literally 2 hours before we were going to send to print, I realized the wording we had on our invitations made it sound like our parents were getting married to each other!!! Can you imagine if my fiancé hadn’t caught that? We would have wasted thousands of dollars! Then, I had asked Sarah weeks prior for names of calligraphers. Since I was traveling/​working nonstop, it slipped my mind to follow up with her and she just never sent over any names. By the time I remembered, it was too late… no calligrapher for me! At this point, my fiancé intervened and spoke to Sarah to express our concerns. She told us that she absolutely had our wedding as a priority and we just needed to continue to trust her. So, we did. Then, 4 weeks before my wedding, I started to panic. I didn’t have anything completed – no menus, no rentals, no solid vision on décor/​color, no idea on florals. My fiancé saw me freaking out and intervened. He asked Sarah to provide us with a detailed timeline of our event (something that is written into her contract and to be provided around the ~8 week mark but something we never received). Days went by. We still received nothing. Then, after 2 weeks, we received our «timeline.» It was 1.5 pages and didn’t even have my correct contact information or the names of all my vendors. My fiancé looked at the properties of the document and saw it was created 30 mins before he sent it to us. We were appalled. That’s when we decided to stop working with Sarah.
My wedding was this past weekend, and let me tell you, it was super stressful to pull it all together alone in 4 weeks, but it was no more stressful than chasing Sarah around and shelling out thousands to her for nothing in return. At the end of the day, I’m sure she has some happy clients. I just wasn’t one and thought I should share so hopefully other brides can make a better choice.
