History

Established in 2005.

The Silly Yak came to Madison in January, 2005. Previously, the GF portion of the bakery was in Rochester, MN. The local Celiac community wanted the owner to bake GF items. One bread turned into another and another. Next thing that happened — Mayo Clinic was buying GF items for their newly diagnosed patients at St Mary’s Hospital. When the folks returned home, they stopped by the bakery there to get something to eat on the way home; they asked about shipping. Viola! We moved to Madison to a much larger bakery and GF community. We have customers in all 50 states and US Territories.

My wife Holly owns the majority of the business. She’s responsible for formulating and making such a wide variety of Certified fresh-​baked Gluten-​Free items. You will not believe your eyes at the selection when you visit the website or the store.
