Owner Lis De Souza is Madison’s only National Certified Master Groomer. Specializing in unique and creative scissored cuts that will flatter any pet. She is also an award winning stylist, traveling to trade shows and competitions multiple times every year. Elicia has recently joined the team as a Master Grooming Apprentice. She is an expert at de-​shedding and will also be doing cats! At Serenity we are experts in correct coat care and take the time to inform every pet parent on the correct tools and techniques to maintain a happy, healthy pet.

Established in 2014.

Lis has been grooming in the Madison area since 2005. Her history with dogs started when she began attending AKC dog shows over 16 years ago. She continues to show her AKC Champion Collies frequently and uses the opportunity to hone her skills on all the latest show dog trends.

My standard poodle is a retired show dog. I adopted her when she left competition in agility and conformation. I used to get her regularly groomed by her breeder, but the breeder retired, so the search began.
After some truly dreadful experiences, I found Lis! Not only does she do my girl’s hair perfectly, but she has adapted the grooming day to help my 11-​year-​old arthritic former agility jumper have a reduced-​pain day. She bathes her and shaves feet, face and tail, gives her some pain medicine and lets her take a nap. Then when the dog is up and the pain meds are still working, she scissors the rest. The result? A beautiful, happy, reasonably pain-​free dog.

Lis has been grooming by Malamute for several years. I really don’t think there is anyone else who has the experience and patience to do his beautiful coat justice. Lis is a PROFESSIONAL groomer and it shows in her work.

We sent both of our corgis for a general cleanup since they are both blowing their coats for the season. One of our boys is a fluff which presents some specific grooming challenges. Both of them look GREAT. Our fluffy boy has no more mats, his tail and skirt are nicely trimmed and his little feet are the cleanest and best groomed I’ve ever seen. He looks like a pup again. Our older boy has a standard coat but it has become harder to brush him as he gets older and more arthritic. He also looks perfect. You wouldn’t be able to guess his age unless you see the grey in his face. His coat is spotless, undercoat is completely under control and his feet are the best they’ve looked in his almost 13 years. Great job!

There is No place else to take my little puppy girl, Snickers. Lis, owner of Serenity Pet Spa, is the best, most patient, and knowledgeable groomer around. I know she has a great staff also, but I actually haven’t met with them yet. I try to keep up with grooming Snickers, but she has been so uncooperative. I take her to Lis every 3 to 4 weeks. I drop her off and a couple hours later when I pick her up she’s beautiful. She’s clean and smells good: she’s trimmed, including her nails, and she even has a cute little bow in her hair. We are definitely happy and would recommend Lis to anyone who wants their pet groomed by the best.

After we moved to Madison five years ago, we tried numerous groomers for our cockapoo Lupin and had to endure too many lopsided haircuts, smelly salons and sloppy artistry. Then we found Lis, who was then working on the far east side of the city, and our dog’s haircuts took hours out of my work day (what with driving 25 minutes each way to drop him off and again to pick him up)… but it was worth it!
Thankfully, Lis has now moved to the west side and has set up her own business: Serenity Pet Spa. Now we can benefit from her prize-​winning grooming skills far more easily. Lis is hands-​down the best groomer in town.

Am so happy to have found this place! My beloved dog Mavi and I moved to Madison a year ago from NYC, where we had a wonderful in-​home groomer. I searched long and hard for something similar in Madison, but found mostly places that were just out-​of-​the-​question for an overprotective dog mom like myself (i.e. traditional set-​ups where my dog would likely spend hours in a cage, and with many reviews speaking of pet injuries. I was even offering huge tips at one point for special treatment, but just got «can’t do it, sorry» from the 20 or so groomers I contacted). So I let Mavi’s fur grow super-​long, tried and failed to cut it myself, and then drove back to NYC to see our groomer there. Our old groomer then found me Lis at Serenity Pet Spa! Lis was wonderful with my fearful dog: reassuring, sweet, and gentle. She also accommodated my annoying special requests (I won’t say what they were in case everyone asks!), which I greatly appreciated. Mavi was very happy and not at all traumatized. AND, she probably got the best haircut of her life! She looks gorgeous, and has been getting tons of compliments :).

I can’t imagine taking my pup anywhere else. Not only does Lis do an impeccable job, but I know my shih tzu is never waiting for me in a cage. As long as your dog is pup friendly, they are able to roam her shop with some friends.
He’s always looking his best and the prices are competitive.

I just got my three dogs back from their day at the Spa with Lis. They’re beautiful, happy, and relaxed. The oldest one has been groomed by Lis for 5 years and both her brothers have gone all their lives, too. They are long-​haired dogs which can be a challenge to groomers.
Lis does a tremendous job, (she’s a nationally certified master groomer) and I trust her completely with my babies– even the one that’s a wee bit of a diva.
I highly recommend Lis and the Serenity Pet Spa.

Lis has been grooming our goldendoodle since he was a puppy. She does an absolutely amazing job and we couldn’t ask for a better groomer. We frequent dog parks and lakes so he is usually a disaster by the time Lis sees him but he comes out looking so handsome! We couldn’t be happier with the service Lis has given us for the past 4+ years.

I have an extremely difficult to groom Collie. We have been turned down by other groomers until I found Lis. Now we get stopped on the street complimenting my beautiful boy. She also has helped me with products at home to keep him looking his best between appointments. I am truly amazed by her work. Lis is worth the drive for her experience with dogs. She has also helped keep his teeth in great shape. She is an all around amazing person to be working with dogs. I feel so lucky that we have found her.

I just had my dog groomed there this morning. He has been seeing Lis for years. I will NOT have any other groomer touch my Bichon baby. Please check her out she is great. She handles him with care and he always comes out looking beautiful.
