Buying children’s clothing is a pain in the tush, which is too bad, because when you’re a mom, you are the last person with that kind of time. Moms take different approaches. Some just rip off the band aid and buy stuff new. A lot of moms I know are into these twice-a-year consignment weekends where you spend two days volunteering and elbowing with other thrifty moms over high-end toddler shoes. Exhausting. Having found«Once Upon a Child,» this will probably be my solution. They have a big selection, it is fairly well sorted, and if you want a basic item, they will probably have some version of it. The clothes seem to be well checked over, and are in nice, gently used shape. The prices seem fair to me $ 3.50 for a gently used PJ, $ 5 for a nice, brand-name top. They don’t have EVERYTHING, of course. I couldn’t find a girl’s 4T snowsuit, for example. So it’s back to trolling on craigslist. It’s affordable. It’s easy. My daughter had a grand old time. This will become part of our rotation.
