Always wanted to try this place, curiosity is over and I will never return. Girl behind the counter proceeded to make my sandwich, and tend to other customers in between(exchanging cash and touching the register). Not once did she wash her hands after touching the money, and she certainly did not put on gloves. Just manhandled my deli meat with her piglet hands, without even a second thought. Type of person you can assume has other bad hygiene habits. Disgusting! Sandwich shop and other great places are just a few blocks away. Don’t waste your time, or risk getting ill. Oh, and the prices aren’t cheap either…

Ordered a whole sub and some wings little less than a half hour ago. The wings according to their menu online claim to be «jumbo wings», which is wrong. I’ve just seen the worlds smallest drumsticks! I ordered them with suicidal sauce and there was no heat whatsoever. Wings from here? Not worth it!

This rating is based solely on their bacon egg and cheese sandwich. One word sums its up — Weak! Very disappointed, for $ 6. I was hoping for something better. I think there was only 1 egg.

They usually get phone orders wrong, so check your order before you leave the store. Their sandwiches are okay but nothing exceptional. The location is good.

My # 6 sub was ok not the best I ever had not the worst by far. I’m from out of town so didn’t know what to expect. I agree with some of the others meat was good but quantity was on the light side. Bread was excellent and they did put just the right amount of oil an vinegar on. Place was busy and it was 1:30PM so that’s usually a good sign.

Come here for thinly sliced meat that is thinly placed on a mountain off lettuce and bread. Seriously less than 1/8lb of cold cuts $ 8 dollar sandwich.

I should have looked at the picture above before I ordered a cheesesteak… Seriously, two small steak-ums in a sub roll? That is just what I got. I don’t get the logic at this place. Their subs are fine, but their hot sandwich are just plain bad.

It’s like fast food only worse for you. I keep getting hit on by the guys serving me and they are borderline disrespectful.

The people behind the counter are all pretty nice but the food is about average. Im not a fan of the bread, tastes like cheap, soft bread. and that will ruin the sandwich for me, i like my bread to have a little character or crunch to it. Sandwiches arent bad but i have had better at chatham sandwich shop, espositos deli, sorrentos bakery, zizza bakery. all fairly close by, so in comparing to other local places main st is on the short end of the stick

A great sandwich is very much about the bread, and Main Street has great bread. Both for subs and sandwiches. Cold cuts are always fresh and they normally have a pile of sloppy joes pre-made and ready for you to just swing by and pick up.

Awesome sandwiches and awesome prices! I go here super frequently when I’m in school. The number 6 with Russian Dressing is absolutely crazy, I’m hooked on it. Big, fat sandwiches at a great price

Excellent spot for sandwiches, the bread, cold cuts and fixins are fresh and the portions are big. They have plenty of daily specials and at lunchtime expect it to be crowded with customers who have been coming here for over a decade. There is plenty of parking and seating, inside and out. Although most business is to go. If you are in a hurry on a budget for lunch in the Chatham/Madison area, this is the spot to go.

OMG the Owners wife gives me the creeps, I gave her a coupon and I just saw this disgusting face come out, making me feel like such an unwanted customer, in the book were 4 coupons like 2 sloppy’s for $ 9.95, once the owners wife said«oh are we doing this again?» I should of said NO I just printed it up be careful not to smear it the ink isn’t dry yet, I mean really if it upsets her so DON’T PLACETHEAD Duh! because after that I handed her another coupon and she turned to the other girl and asked her to check the expired date Really? sad to say shes not a very pleasant person it seems

Main Street Subs is probably one of the most tried and true Madison institutions around. BIG tasty subs piled high and served up in a truck stop like environment. There are some tables around and a decent(though small) outdoor seating section. Service is quick, to the point, and no nonsense or small talk. Everything clicks together nicely. Oh and they sell those MASH sodas(pomegranate or grapefruit). Try a half #6 with extra vinegar, my go to lunch.

I’ve been to this place many, many times and am kind of surprised I’ve never written a review. I’d put this place right in between 3 and 4 stars, but I guess I’m in a round down type of mood. It’s a very big deli located right on Main Street in Madison(hence the name, I know). Sandwiches here are very good, they have a nice chip and drink selection and also sell pizza. The sandwiches are pretty big, have a decent amount of meat and are nicely constructed. My only minor complaint is the bread to meat ratio. I’d like to see a bit more meat, but they are pretty good sandwiches and load the toppings on which is nice. Then the surprise… I would have never pegged this place for good pizza. However, the pizza here is very good. The sausage was awesome. This was good pizza, in general, not just for a deli. Give it a shot — can’t imagine you’d be disappointed with it.

Without question the best sub place in the area. I usually get Cappacola, ham and prosciutto and a turkey .One of the things I like about the place is, if you get oil and vinegar, they don’t drench the bread .That is a common and irritating sub shop mistake. Moisture is nice, soggy bread is not. I have Always taken the sandwiches out. Service is quick and the ingredients of high quality.
