Advanced Detailing Specialists

I was struggling with whether or not to write this review, but my inner small business owner self won out (and perhaps my annoyance over the situation).
Back in August I saw a Groupon pop up for Advanced Detailing Specialists, and the big selling point for me was that they come to your home or place of work and take care of your car. My car, just having turned 3, was in desperate need of some TLC and a deep cleaning, so I splurged and spent the $ 90 (or whatever it was) and purchased it.
A couple of days later I called to make the appointment, left a message, didn’t hear back. A few days later called again, left another message, and waited. Finally, about a week later, I got a call and was told that the soonest availability would be September 13 (about 3 – 4 weeks out). Having no choice, I took it.
On September 12 I got a voicemail from them saying that due to the rain they had the week before, they needed to move my appointment, and they would work around my schedule to get it done. I called the next morning, left a message saying that the following week would work, and to please call. I called again the next day, left another message. On Friday, I thought I’d give it another shot, didn’t bother leaving the message.
Deciding that I would give them the weekend to get back to me, I waited. Still nothing. So this morning, I e-​mailed Groupon and by the end of the day, I had a refund for it. And still no phone call from the company.
As I said, I’m a fellow small business owner and to me, this is just a bad way of doing business, and this just solidifies my thoughts that perhaps some places shouldn’t be doing Groupons (or any of the other discount sites that are slowly taking over the world). I’m a massage therapist, I am limited with how many people I can see in a week, and that’s what is keeping me from signing up with Groupon, I don’t want a situation like this to happen in my business. I feel bad enough not getting back to someone until the next day, but having to wait a week for a call back, then a month for an appointment, only to get canceled on and never receive a call back? Unacceptable.
My apologies, was really looking forward to getting my car taken care of.

I purchased a detailing package through Motorcity Daily Deals late last year. Once the hustle and bustle of the holidays was over I called ADS to set an appointment for detailing. It took Matt, the owner, several days to call me back but he eventually contacted me to arrange the time and place for services. My appointment was pushed out almost three months due to their work load but they did show up to detail my vehicle on the date scheduled. Unfortunately I had to work that day so I left the care and cleaning of my vehicle to them without my personal presence during the job. When I returned to inspect my vehicle I was awe struck to find how poorly a job was done. Granted my vehicle was not a new Mercedes nor perfectly pristine, and actually needed to be detailed to return it to a more aesthetic condition before selling it. I phoned Matt, left a message and received a call back. I explained my position about the detail work stating that it was unsatisfactory and I was told that my car was essentially too dirty to clean and that their equipment was unable to handle the type of detailing needed.
For the money I spent I was expecting the interior upholstery to be shampooed along with the carpeting, the window sills wiped down, the door jams cleaned and any dirt on the outside to be removed during the wash and wax. What I returned to was a vehicle with a shiny exterior (body and wheels) with minor mud spots left on the bumper, a front cabin that was Armor All-​ed hastily, upholstery that was steamed but not shampooed and carpeting that I was told was «too old» to clean, not to mention my headliner which was still in dire need of vacuuming. Now to be fair, my vehicle was a late nineties model and in no way was in new condition but I’d gather that if you’re a detailing company that you’d be able to at least clean a vehicle and do a decent job. Considering that ADS stands for «Advanced» Detailing Services I would expect that A) the company does professional work that is mostly thorough and complete and/​or B) the equipment that is used is the bomb and is capable of taking on any job. I’d also expect that if you feel a vehicle is «too dirty» for your company to provide a quality result that you’d contact the customer immediately and tell them exactly that so that they won’t be disappointed with a poor result. I received none of the above. Just wanted to put my two cents out there.
