The good– cute atmosphere, mostly reasonable prices The bad– lacking sushi options without rice(no cucumber or rice paper rolls), charged $ 1 for side of spicy mayo, waitress was hard to understand, wasabi and ginger were not very fresh, charged $ 2.50 for a CAN of lemonade I won’t be back. Favorite sushi place in metro Detroit so far is Sushi Mi on Grand River in Farmington.

The sushi was pretty good. We went as a group for lunch and they didn’t take too long to serve us. There seemed to be only one man making the sushi, so it wasn’t as fast as it could have been. The service was fast and pleasant. I enjoyed my sunday morning roll a lot. They have a lot of options if you like spicy sushi also. I’d come back here.

Good sushi, average prices. Place is a little bit hidden, but found it without a problem. Tried the firecracker roll, sunday morning roll, and chicken teriyaki roll. The firecracker and sunday morning were great, but the chicken was a little bit hard and crunchy. Not sure if that how it’s supposed to be, but nonetheless edible and still not bad.

Way over priced. Sushi was ok, not great but not terrible either. Boyfriend ordered chicken katsu and we were shocked at how tiny the portion was for $ 15. Literally I wanted to get up and walk out I was so mad. It looked like chicken fingers from BK. And they charged us $ 2.50 for each refill of Coke. Are you serious? $ 2.50 for a can of Coke wth? So $ 5 for two cokes. Ridiculous. One roll, salmon sushi, chicken katsu and two $ 2 house salads was almost $ 50. Also the roll I ordered said $ 10.95 on the menu and on the bill it was $ 12.95. Will never come back here.

We had a very nice lunch here. The sushi was good, the bento very good. I had the veggie sushi lunch and it was nicely prepared. I liked the casual service and open WiFi. We’ll be sure to stop in again.

I love this place, the owner is super friendly and always gives complimentary foods to try! Best sushi in the area and they use REAL crab, not imitation! Best part is it’s not expensive either !

I’m in town visiting for the holidays. I discovered this place last week and have since been here three times. The owners are sweet and so welcoming. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The Mochi balls!!! Mango!!! I’m in love with sushi gallery! It’s my favorite sushi joint in this area. I rank it above Nobel fish and Ronin! Ask for some Kimchi, it’s as close to traditional Korean outside of Korea!

It is not easily seen from the road. Tucked away in the back side of the complex. But totally worth the wait. Very filling 8 – 10 piece rolls, the miso is the best I’ve ever had, and they use REALFRESH wasabi which I have never seen in Michigan. Bring cash, Comcast drops service(as is expected from Comcast) and the card reader takes a little while. To be tried/enjoyed!

I adore this place. First off, the sushi chef is awesome. He almost always will give you a free something. The rolls are very unique. Personally, I prefer nigiri, while I don’t find this to be their strong point, their rolls are on point. The flavor combination is great. The rolls are a bit pricey, but they are very filling. Second– I think it’s a great place to take a friend who isn’t a huge fan of sushi. There’s so many different rolls that their bound to at least find a couple they would like.

Really good affordable sushi and very nice owners. We ordered the chicken dumplings as appetizers and they were piping hot, fresh off the pan and the sushi was fresh as well. Coming back here again. Be aware of the 4% charge for credit card use. This is displayed at every table so it is not a surprise. We came back for a birthday dinner and the sushi chef made us a really nice treat from oranges and ice cream. It was a great dish and very thoughtful!

Please don’t make the mistake of passing on this place bc it’s in a strip mall. We had an excellent experience only surpassed by the food. We aren’t sure if the main chef was the owner but he sure acted as so and treated us as if we were family. We dabbled in both sashimi and a hot clay pot mixed with beef and rice and vegetables, not sure of the name tho. Everything down to the miso soup was amazing and would go back to this place in a heartbeat for more!

First time here to satisfy my overdue Sushi craving! OK first impression no one here… customer or staff? Called on my cell woke up kitchen help. Now the food… Miso good not great Ginger Salad OK I’ve had better. Because of all the Unilocal reviews I tried the Lion Roll had say it was very good! Also had the vegetarian lunch rolls cucumber and radish both OK kind of bland. So 3 rolls Miso and Ginger Salad about $ 24 not overly expensive but not cheap. Nothing was bad but either was it… gotta come back! For about $ 13 next fix will be Fuji Buffet all you can eat!

I’m not sure why this place gets high ratings. There are other much better places in the area. The food was just average. What really disappointed us, so beware credit card users, there is a 4% surcharge on any payment via credit card. 4% is higher than the banks charge. There are signs posted by the table but you don’t see them until after you’re seated. Also when the bill came it was a list of numbers each marked«item». None of these items were identified by name. You have to either memorize what you ordered or go back to the menu to see what you were charged for. Server was pleasant but not experienced. Won’t be visiting a second time.

Oh my God I had never heard of this place but wow was it amazing. We were seated quickly and the food came out promptly and we were so excited about the menu we couldn’t decide what to order. We ended up with four different rolls and each of them were spectacular. Also the owner what was so nice and friendly he came and gave us free Mochi and checked up on us.

We came here for an early dinner and it seems they were a little short handed. I only saw one waitress and one guy behind the sushi counter(I assume was the owner). I ordered the hwe dupbap and my husband ordered the Dynamite and Tiger Roll. My hwedupbap came out first and I started picking at it slowly thinking that my husband’s food would be out shortly. I had to stop and wait because it started to get a little long between my food coming out and my husband. Meanwhile another table who ordered after us got some of their food. We ended up asking the waitress how much longer it would be for my husband’s food and she said only a bit longer. About 7 minutes later the food came out and then he was a happy camper again. Then the sushi chef came out with a side of red snapper, which we didn’t order. He said it was on the house. I think it was his way of saying sorry for the food delay. The food was great. I always usually get chirashi when I go to sushi places and having some freshness from a salad and gochujang sauce. Heck yeah. My husband also thought his rolls were very tasty and he can be very picky about his sushi. I also saw Lisa C. mention ramen here! I’m crazy about ramen! So much that everywhere I travel if they have ramen I’m trying that place out AND I take the time to make my own 12 hour broth. Soooooo I will have to come back and try it some time. I definitely understand that they were short staffed and a few groups had walked in one after another so it may have overwhelmed the kitchen a bit. And then to receive something on the house beause our food took a little long. That’s great hospitality. We didn’t complain at all, but just asked a question and you get over the moon hospitality. Having staff that can read tables and offer things like this means that you have fine dining hospitality in a mom and pop restaurant. It’s so hard to find places like this one.

We love this place. Unilocal reviews lead us to it. Thanks Unilocal! We splurged on the tray for 2. It was a great value. The owner is very friendly and incredibly talented. If this place was in Birmingham they could easily charge $ 22 a roll and have an hour wait. We are so impressed every visit. Low key, laid back elegant sushi Huge Korean menu as well. We can’t wait to try it.

I’m having a hard time figuring out why this place isn’t packed! It should be. Judging by the taste of the food, the price, and the setting it really should be! The sushi’s were HUGE, the waitress was kind, so was the manager, and not to mention the service was fast!

Looking for Sushi Gallery? Look instead for the Outback on 14 Mile and Campbell, otherwise you just might miss the peculiar shopping plaza on the border with Clawson and Madison Heights where the restaurant resides, tucked away into a corner. Generally speaking, holes in the wall like Sushi Gallery are either diamonds in the rough or passable. The shopfront is nearly anonymous behind an open sign, the Unilocal sticker, and a few gentle Japanese posters for Asahi beer and a famous 17th-century style print of a geisha. All signs point to a great experience. The interior is a bit more modern than I expected, tables separated by a low wall and a sushi bar in the back corner, with seating there if you want to watch fish sliced and diced. A television was trained to the local news station while we visited. The menu splits into Korean options, like bibimap(in effect, an egg-topped rice bowl) and jap chae, and a select number of Japanese entrees, including udon noodles, sushi, and donburi. There are not pages and pages to meander through, though their sushi menu is displayed on flip cards on the tabletop with corresponding photos, a cute touch and instructive for new diners. My beau and I split a jap chae on our dinner date and a selection of rolls, including the cherry blossom and the mango roll. For the record I could live off mango rolls, and probably did over a summer, so anyone who puts one on their menu immediately wins my affections. They have a selection of sashimi or handrolls, though again, the list is fairly short and split between plain(e.g., tuna, salmon) and combo rolls(e.g., California, dragon, etc.). A good many of these are cooked, great for the people in your party who might reject raw fish. The presentation of sushi wins high marks. The square plate was arranged with neatly cut rolls swizzled in the respective sauces, blossoms of wasabi and ginger in the corners. Rolls are particularly sizeable, though not too unbearable. Nothing is worse than trying to shove a giant half-dollar roll of seaweed and rice into your mouth. The Pink Lady roll was largest of them all, and pleasantly balanced between fish and fillings, all tightly squeezed down. The sweetness of eel sauce(I think) made a tasty counterbalance to the salmon. Staff is enthusiastic and helpful, though I suspect the young lady serving us was new to the restaurant. She had difficulty explaining the contents of a roll without much of a description, smiling and demurring from an answer, so we eventually looked it up on our phone. She managed the other tables well and the sushi chefs here are top notch.

Was looking to try somewhere new for take out tonight. I ended up with Sushi Gallery, and will definitely be back. My go-to place is usually Tai Fai. I know everyone loves Noble, and it IS delicious, but there’s something about Tai Fai that keeps me coming back. So when I was reading Sushi Gallery Unilocal reviews, I almost just went to Tai Fai and called it a night. I’m glad I gave this place a shot. It’s hiding in the corner of a strip mall at 14 and Campbell. I was surprised how large the restaurant is when I went in. I was immediately greeted by friendly staff, and received my food promptly(was told it’d be ready in 10 minutes when I called). I ordered the Lion King roll and the avocado and asparagus roll. Both were great, but the Lion King roll surpassed my expectations. It has this great smokey flavor to it. I could’ve eaten a million of them. I highly recommend it. I was eyeing the French Kiss and White Dragon, too. I definitely want to take Boyfriend there and try dining in. But this place has great sushi. Go check it out.
