I visited here from California and the first negative has to be the indoor smoke. California has strict regulations with smoking and smokers are not allowed to smoke in any indoor business. Luckily I visited in the early evening and it wasn’t too busy. I played a couple rounds of pool with my girlfriend, the bar tender seemed friendly but she never asked us for any drink orders since we never went up to the bar. The 2nd star I removed is for the creepy locals here staring down my girlfriend as if they never had seen a girl before; this made us feel uncomfortable and we ended up leaving early.

This place is a great bar to unwind and play games with friends or regulars. It was very laid back but there was definitely action to be had if you were looking for it. The poker table was very lively but play at your own risk.

Everything seemed okay at first. Visiting from out if town… chill atmosphere and nice bartenders, but hardly anyone there on a monday night(as expected). Shooting pool with a buddy when two regulars decide to challenge us. We got demolished one game, then bet them 1 round of drinks(2 beers) that we would win the next game. After we won, the two regulars hit the bar and refused to buy us a round, and blamed it on being too drunk(after buying themselves shots of whiskey). We calmly told them that it wasn’t cool to ignore their dues and the bartender immediately kicked us out. We paid for the table, left a good tip and were on our way… completely sober and shocked at the ignorance and stupidity of the staff. We’ll never give a penny to this place again. Lesson learned… the locals aren’t as nice as they appear. There was gambling occurring in the back(poker) so I’m glad I didn’t join that game… they would have robbed me blind!

For me this place is like Macon’s very own«Cheers» where everyone knows your name. Everyone is so friendly and there is a very diverse crowd which is hard to find in Macon. It’s a nice chill spot to hang out and service is fast. Will definitely reek of smoke like Julie C. stated but it’s a cool spot.

My favorite place to hang out and drink beer downtown. The bartenders are friendly and prompt. I don’t play much pool, but it’s the only place downtown you can as far as I know. It reminds me of «cheers» from the old tv sitcom. My only complaint is the Sunday bartender has been rude to several of my friends. I guess 6 days out of 7 having great service is pretty damn awesome, though!

I don’t spend that much time in downtown Macon but I make it out on the occasional Friday evening. I found myself in BJ’s because it was the only place my friends said didn’t charge a cover. For this reason alone– BJ’s is great, that and it’s a cheaper place to drink. It seemed pretty chill, with a wide range of age groups in the bar. We even ended up getting a couch on a busy Friday evening. Of the places I’ve visited in the downtown area, this is definitely one that I would make a return trip to.

Another random night in Macon, GA… but this place is a winner. Yes. You will reek of smoke when you leave, but sometimes, you don’t care about that… and BJ’s is a good time. Motley crowd, lots of pool tables, big bar, lounge-y spots to sit and talk, music is tolerable and not blasting… this is my new go to spot when I can’t take the books any longer. Good times.

Every time I have been here the staff has been really friendly and the service is fast. I love to play pool and they have a pay per hour system that works for my friends because we never stay put for very long. The crowd varies from old and rough to young and hip. Great location downtown, very spacious, and clutch when it comes to a quick snack. They sometimes have BBQ, other times hotdogs– perfect for a late night snack. Good music too usually classic rock.

I like shooting pool here. It’s close enough to the night life that I can shoot pool and have a few beers with my friends until the clubs get going. BJs is walking distance to everything in downtown Macon. There’s about six regulation size tables, poker table and an outdoor area in the back.
