As always the best place for mexican food. The best soft shelled tacos and salsa in Macomb County. Service is excellent atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. Prices are very reasonable for the great quality of the food. 3 locations but we prefer the 21 and card rd because of its location and always have had great food and service.

Tacos are not meant to be puffy and they want way to much $ for the rest of the menu. Looking for good Mexican food? This ain’t it.

Absolutely love the food! Puffy tacos are amazing! Service is top notch and the décor is pretty too. Plenty of food for your hungry appetite. If you go during dinner hour expect a wait but it is well worth it!

Ordered carry out from here on the way to my SIL’s new house. I love that you can order and pay online! Walked in 15 min later and our food was ready and waiting for us. The only reason for 4 our of 5 stars is because online is asks for a name for each order, but then when I opened the bag to give everyone their food nothing was labeled.

Well this is the total opposite of my last review of El Charros. My wife and I had a horrible experience when we went there last. Extremely rude server(after she arrived at our table after 7 minutes, while she talked to her friends at another table), she got the order wrong and this caused a major fight between us after we left. The manager was very helpful and removed her order from the bill but that does not change the terrible experience we had. I was shocked by this as we never got bad service before but i have noticed in the past few months that our orders have been getting screwed up alot. The food is good when its right but the service has been very poor lately. I am sorry to say that I will never return to El Charros again.

Pleasantly Surprised! Hit this location for the very 1st time at Noon on a Monday, and was truly impressed with the layout, décor & how clean it was. A gentleman seated greeted & seated us right away. Debbie was our server, showed us the lunch menu and we ordered the«fluffy tacos» and chicken tortilla soup. Debbie was a super friendly, kind server. I was craving shredded beef in my taco which was great, plus El Charro’s salsa is perfect in taste & thickness. Soups were great. Its tucked into the strip mall corner near Kroger, but so worthy.

The taco’s are outstanding, and the botanas is to die for. Everything here is great, the food, the drinks, and it’s just down the street.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever! The best tacos in the entire world as far as I’m concerned, and I’ve had a LOT of tacos. They’re dipped so they’re crispy and puffy, I can’t really explain them but if you haven’t had them you need to try them stat. The service is also consistently good. There’s one male manager there in particular that is always working so hard to make things nice when I go there, I’ve noticed him every time. Kudos to him and I hope the food stays as good and fresh as it always is!

By far my favorite Mexican food! Cute atmosphere, awesome service always. The puffy tacos are my thing… reason enough to go there!

El Charro is quite good, especially for Mexican food in an area that’s not Mexican at all. Tacos are always good, but I’ve had the marinade for the chicken before(tastes similar to Rojo’s marinade). The chips are Xochitl chips, and I would bet that most of the food supplies come from the Kroger right next door. While I really like El Charro, I believe you can do better at home.

I am going to have to go with 2 stars on this one. This was the worst display of Mexican food I have ever seen. I ordered the vegetable fajitas with no cheese and with corn tortillas. I looked on the website prior to coming and the menu sounded pretty good for this option. I will try to include a picture of the menu. The vegetables that got delivered were onions, bell peppers, and two slivers of mushrooms. I was hoping for a bit more from what I read on the menu. The plate also came with a serving of retried beans and Mexican rice. The second plate came with cut up tomatoes and shredded iceberg lettuce. The dinner also came with a small salad, that was not bad, it actually had better lettuce than what came with the dinner plate. My friends orders were not good either, chimmy changas and the enchilada dinner. The enchilada dinner and a drink(non alcoholic) rang in around $ 18 and $ 13 for the other. The enchilada dinner was overpriced and under flavored. We are here visiting on business, we won’t visit again. We will try the other Mexican that had good reviews in the area, but if that one ends up being about the same, we will assume that Mexican fare isn’t the norm around this area.

Something has changed at El Charro — Something is wrong here. Just recently, El Charro has removed the Shredded Pork Tamales from their menu, which I have grown to love. I know these things are hard to make and keep, but this was the dish that kept me coming back for more. Okay, so after vowing to never return I decided to give it another go and find a new dish to love. My hunger for an easy dinner wins out over hurt feelings. :D I rolled the dice and ordered the Pork Burritos. My Son followed suit and did the same. The thinking was that these might have some of the same ingredients and tastes as the missing tamales. Umm nope. After getting our dinners home and unboxing we both noticed that these burritos were buried in cheese. We start eating them and all of a sudden«Crunch !!!» I just bit into a pig bone fragment !!! One minute later, my 10-year old also gets a pig bone in the center of his burrito !!! What the heck is going on here??? I am done. You guys have changed something I am not happy. Yes, yes I’ve had the puffy tacos, they are fine but I’m bummed out.

Stopped in on Thursday afternoon for lunch with my Husband. He was working, so needed a spot where he could have Wi-Fi. We were immediately shown to a booth with an outlet for his laptop, and given directions on how to connect to their free Wi-Fi. The basket of chips and two wonderful, fresh salsas were delivered to our table within seconds. Our server was very prompt, we decided to share the«puffy tacos» dinner. Three unique(awesome) tacos, we chose ground beef. Beans, rice and a cheese nachos appetizer for $ 12.99. Service was incredibly prompt, refills on beverages were brought without request. My only regret is that I forgot my leftovers on the table lol. Amazing food quality, great taste, and very reasonable prices.

It’s all about the puffy tacos. Forget my previous snobbery — it’s good. Is it authentic? No, not really, but it’s affordable, clean, fast, and just all-around good food. I really like the fact that they have unsalted(or at least very LIGHTLY salted) chips, and their salsas are tasty as well… especially the green one(ask for it when you’re seated, it’s spicy). The puffy tacos are awesome, and the rice and beans are pretty decent. Their enchiladas are good as well, but I’d say pass on their tamales and burritos — the tamales are stupidly overpriced, not big, and don’t taste too good. The burritos are just mediocre… they taste really«I could have made this at home”-y. So long as you stick to tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, chips and salsa, and the dessert menu, you’ll be in good shape. I always mean to try the chile rellenos, but still haven’t gotten around to them. All-in-all, a tasty semi-authentic Mexican restaurant that’s consistent every time with above average food… can’t say that about enough places, unfortunately. P. S. It’s called ELCHARRO … not ELCHARRO’S! Eesh!

Needed to go to the bank and tucked into the corner of this strip mall is this little Mexican place beckoning to me to come in have a bite for lunch. ok! Nice space, nice staff and a bustling dining room really brought this place alive. Did I mention they have a full bar? Shoosh, you had me at Carta Blanca! So I get the Lunch Special Wet Burrito and man was it wet. I had a bit of a time finding the burrito under all the cheese, rice, beans and salsa. Maybe a little too wet when I added on the sidecars of Sour Crème and Guacamole. My fault, not theirs. The thing was that it had really good flavor and it wasn’t mottled, everything stood out in the way it should. I had a flight of salsa at my disposal as well. The girl brought me 4 different kinds of salsa and I gladly indulged every one. The mild was a bit salty and not to my taste, the more traditional was a really good blend and probably grandma safe. The green was really tasty and the hotter sauce had a really nice smokey flavor to it, probably my fav. These days I spend as much at Taco Bell as I did here, except here they have booze. So i’ll be back for more!

If you were a fan of the beloved panchos tacos that recently burned down, this place is a good substitute. The have the same type«puffy» tacos that are truly delicious. Their other food is really good too. There was a bit of a wait when we got there, but the food came out quickly and our service was great(Danielle was our waitress). This will be a staple for my husband and I each time we visit his hometown of New Baltimore

Thanks to an awesome coupon in the weekly ads my boyfriend and I decided to try El Charro’s for dinner for the first time in quite some time. We were quickly greeted and seated as soon as we walked thru the doors. Quite busy for a weekday night but plenty of seats still available. Not more than 30 seconds later we were served chips and salsa. Meh. Chips were extremely thick and tasted more than a week old. Not warm or anything. Salsa had too much acid for my liking but thanks to table side sugar, I simply sprinkled the sugar in the salsa and that fixed the issue. I ordered the El Charro Original Combination. It comes with taco, meat and bean tostada, enchilada, and a burrito. All came with ground beef stuffed inside each item. Waitress said there would be an up charge if I wanted to substitute for anything else. My Boyfriend ordered the chicken and steak fajitas. Each meal came with cheese nachos, much tastier than the chips and salsa! Our food arrived as soon as we finished our nachos. Lots of food in front of us and we couldn’t wait to dig in. Eh. My ground beef in my meal was extremely try and tasteless. Didn’t something, such as a paste or more seasoning to make it taste better. I snagged my boyfriends sour cream and made a sour cream/salsa mix to help fix the dry issue. My boyfriend loved the fajitas! Only issue he had was the steak was already pre made and not fresh. He was hoping he could have the steak be cooked medium and since it was premade/frozen he couldn’t. The steak and chicken were both well done and steak was chewy. Came with white rice instead of mexican rice but had corn inside. Food definitely is far from authentic Mexicantown food but it’s good. Very large extensive menu. Theres something for everyone! Good place to take kids. Daily specials and drink specials. Kids eat free every Sunday with the purchase of an adult entrée. Overall, decent experience. Service was top-notch. Prices are a lot higher than previous trips and even more expensive than other locations. Had enough leftovers to make another meal out of it.

A seemingly perfect Tex-Mex family hot spot is not so perfect. My husband & I used to frequent this establishment several times, until we both witnessed a disgusting sanitary issue. El Charro has a good selection of Tex Mex favorites. They haven’t left a favorite off the menu. They also have a liquor license so you’ll get your fix of margaritas or tropical drinks. The staff, however, are forced to wear hilariously hideous«Mexicana» blouses & aprons. I actually feel for them. Be weary this establishment’s prices are slightly more expensive than other Mexican restaurants. The disgusting sanitary issue my husband & I encountered was with a server. We finished our dinner, then glanced back by the kitchen. We saw our server PICKINGHERNOSE. She wiped her finger on her apron then proceeded to pick up plates of food to be served. As soon as we saw this disgusting sanitary issue, we both vowed to never go back. Any potential diners at El Charro, please beware prior to dining.
