Clean & Simple Cleaning

We used to love Clean & Simple when we first used them starting in 2012, but we finally had to let them go and search for a new service. They do a good basic cleaning job, but sometimes they don’t move items in the kitchen to wipe down counters. Since they don’t have the same group come to the house (and sometimes only one person comes), the cleaning quality is inconsistent. Sometimes they were here for an hour and did a low quality job, other times they’d be here for two hours and do a great job. We also had quite a few issues with them leaving our house completely unlocked and/​or unalarmed. I don’t know why it’s been a struggle for them to double check that one of them locked the door and set the alarm, but it’s happened repeatedly and this was the final straw, especially around the holidays– it just isn’t worth the risk :(

I was referred to Clean and Simple by a couple of friends who have been happy with their services. I filled out an online quote request, and their website says someone would get back to me within 24 hours. 4 or 5 days later, I still hadn’t heard from them, so I filled out another one. Still nothing. Today, almost 2 weeks later, I get an email from their manager Janet basically saying they were extremely busy and limiting the number of estimates they’re giving, and they’d call me when they could fit me in. In other words, basically not taking new clients? Maybe they’re only doing estimates for people who want their services more often than bi-​weekly? I went with someone else who was prompt with their response to my inquiry.

As a real estate broker, I am constantly on the hunt for reliable and available maid services to do move-​in /​move-​out cleanings for me and my clients. Over the years I will find a service that takes care of one customer, but then the next time I call they are booked several weeks out. Clean and Simple are reliable and easy to budget. They do great job listening to my need and following special instructions such as cleaning only certain rooms or appliances, etc. I can budget a set number of hours and prioritize the work, and they will get it done. I highly recommend them for move-​in/​move-​out cleanings.

It started out great, but the quality has really decreased over the last 3 or so years, and they made a few deal-​breaking mistakes recently. So, we’ve discontinued their services. The last straws for us were leaving our front door unlocked, then another time coming out to re-​clean our house after we weren’t happy and not waiting for our call back that it was ok. ie. they left a phone message about it in response to our complaint, and came out later that day, although I hadn’t called back to say it was ok (we were traveling and I didn’t check my phone). Although they have a key, there is an expectation they will only come on scheduled days/​times, unless specifically discussed (we hadn’t specifically asked for it to be re-​cleaned, only that we weren’t happy).
The time they came back to re-​clean was because they had left piles of dust & dirt, nothing was moved to clean behind/​under in the bathroom, etc. They have also left cleaning supplies behind, and taken some of our cleaning supplies that were in the laundry room. They have left also the gas fireplace on in the middle of summer (switched accidentally I guess) so we got home and it was ridiculously hot. Lights left on. Once they called to say they forgot to charge our card for a cleaning a few months earlier and would be doing so (who does that?). At first we liked there wasn’t any chemical smell when we came home, but lately there had been a bad smell, so either they have always used smelly stuff and have been cleaning our home later, or switched supplies.
I think the cleaners must be pressed to get in & out very quickly and/​or they have had turnover, as it has been a steep decline. We asked for very straight forward services (the basics such as floors, bathrooms, & dusting), have everything out of the way and no clutter, etc. At the end of the day we were paying way too much money to be unhappy with the service. We’d have to clean up after them, putting things back where they were, unfolding towels on the bar so they would dry, re-​center rugs, etc. They seem to focus more on making the house look like it was cleaned (fold towels on towel bars and toilet paper, make vacuum lines, etc) than a good thorough cleaning.
We gave them several last chances with calls of complaints, mostly as we didn’t want the trouble of finding someone else, especially as they were the cheapest of 3 quotes we originally got. A couple times they even said they would take money off, but didn’t. I’m not looking forward to finding a new cleaning service, but hopefully we’ll be happier with them. They have some great qualities such as locally owned and reasonable prices, and at their best the home looked great (I can never get the shower glass to look that good), but they need to get their act together. I’d rather pay a bit more and be happy.

I hired Clean and Simple to clean my home.
They came and gave me an estimate of what I wanted done on a bimonthly basis.
They were busy so they couldn’t come to my home for a month.
When they got there they didn’t clean the house the way I was told they would. They didn’t wash the floors, they didn’t clean the microwave, they didn’t clean the basement, they barely cleaned my bathroom and the main bathroom.
They did a very horrible job and charged me 300 dollars for it.
When I called the company they said that one of the people they sent to my home was a recovering addict of some sort.
That person said that they found needles in my basement and freaked out. There were no needles in my basement. There were used syringes in the garbage because of one of our cats was injured with a cut on her abdomen and had to have surgery to fix it. The syringes were pre filled at the vet’s office and filled with antibiotics and pain killers for the cat. There were never needles on the syringes, we squirted the liquid medication into the cat’s mouth.
I have breast cancer and smoke medical marijuana (it’s legal) so that I don’t vomit all day long and so that some food will stay in my stomach. I ate lunch while they were here and had no choice but to prevent vomiting by smoking the medical marijuana. I have the right to not die. I also have the right to do all I can to make living not be a 24 – 7 situation of me vomiting all the time and suffering.
The recovering addicted freaked out.
I talked to Clean and Simple about all of this and they said they wouldn’t clean my house anymore. I was very polite to the people who came to my home. I offered them food or beverages. I told them they did a good job even though they didn’t. I didn’t do anything wrong. Yet Clean and Simple tells me they won’t clean my home.
I was able to get them to refund me some of my money.

I am a very, very picky customer, for sure, but Clean & Simple won me over. I previously used a lower-​priced competitor, but it’s quite obvious, in this case, that you get what you pay for. I hired C & S to clean before a party. They sent over a team of three (Maria D, Liliana & Nancy.) They were here for 2.5 hours. I only asked them to do the community areas, no bedrooms. 7.5 man hours to clean the rest of my home. That equals a lot of good detail cleaning! I was gone most of the time, but my husband, who was working in the back yard, said that every time he entered the house, they were moving, and moving quickly. They were fast and efficient. When I saw the house after they’d finished, it looked show room clean. They only thing they appeared to miss was dumping the garbage and trash cans. However, I am now very proud to open my home to my guests.

We have been using Clean and Simple Cleaning for about a year and have always found their service excellent. The house is cleaned thoroughly and with attention to details. The add-​on services, such as refrigerator cleaning, are done in the same professional manner. The cost is reasonable. We have no hesitation recommending Clean and Simple to others looking for housecleaning services.

Through their Deanie Douglas Award, I received a year of FREE HOUSECLEANING from Clean And Simple while I was in strenuous cancer treatment — What a complete treat to come home from a chemotherapy treatment to a spic and span house, bathrooms sparkling, dog and cat hair all gone, kitchen pristine — all done with products that didn’t leave odors and which didn’t make me sick (I became very sensitive to chemicals while in treatment). The staff were always pleasant and easy to work with when making schedule changes, my animals liked the cleaning crews and it was just a really, really special gift that made my very awful year a little easier.

Clean and Simple has done our house for years. Dependable, thorough, and responsive! No concerns, other than an occasional light left on. Glad for their help! Flexible scheduling, they never miss a day.

The name really says it all… Clean and Simple has really made my life easier. As a working mom, my life can be chaotic at times and you just never know what is around the corner. The one thing I can count on is how nice it is to come home on cleaning days and feel the sense of relief that the bathrooms are sparkling, the floors are «dust-​bunny» free and the house has that just cleaned fresh smell. I’ve been a loyal customer for the past 5 years and highly recommend this service.

This is my boyfriend and I’s first time using a cleaning company, and Clean & Simple has been cleaning our home for about 2 months now — we couldn’t be happier with the quality of their work and their customer service! Cleaning days are my favorite — I love coming home to a sparkling clean house — the crew pays special attention to details, and never fails to follow my specific instructions on the way that I like things cleaned.
