Nice place. Owner is nice. Food ok but bland. Pricey for what we ordered. Careful, no prices listed anywhere. Surprise! When you get to pay your bill. Nice selection of beers.

Small hole in the wall place located inside a strip mall. I’m from out of town, but the people who I was staying with 5 minutes away had never heard of it. Inside has some cool Original decorations. Not many seats, wouldn’t have mattered I was the only one there. No menus, kind of odd but they serve something different everyday. Small selection of beers on hand, none of which I’d ever heard of before. Ordered pan cooker sausage with red cabbage and potatoes. Portions weren’t big as I ended up ordering a second sausage. But the sausage was so tasty. Perfect crispy outside. Red cabbage was an amazing pairing. Forgot what the potatoes were seasoned with, but also good. Topped it off with a Porter Beer. Love random places to eat, and will be returning next time I’m in town. Can’t remember my waitresses name, but young girl, and so nice and helpful. Thanks for the recommendations.

Just went in here with my wife to try a bowl of soup to go. The woman at the counter, not the owner, accused my seven months pregnant wife of stealing chocolate from the shelf! The owner, to her credit, realized that the woman was totally wrong and gave us the soup for free. The soup wasn’t bad.

Went to eat here with my cousins,(as we do annually) disappointed with the overall layout of the place. No prices on menu, food was for the most part adequate. I had the jäger schnitzel and the pork was over salted and a bit over cooked. When we were done we found out that a little plate like 2 inches in diameter of the coleslaw and some schnitzel with spätzle is $ 24. I do not remember paying that the previous year I went. Overall the place has a good concept they just need to update and include prices on menu.

This is my favorite place to eat. They made my favorite cake for my birthday and the food is everything I crave. I get the cabbage rolls with spatzel and spiced wine, my baby gets the goolash and my hubbs gets the wiener schnitzel. We always finish with a slice of cake and then we pick up some pastries to go. We are all so happy eating here. Thank you, Linda for all the care and love you put into your perfect dishes.

Beware, while the food is decent there are only three dishes served each day and, the biggest problem, there are no prices posted for anything. We went here and had two plates of food(that are dished out of the deli counter in front of you) two beers and one small dessert and the bill was $ 60! Really ridiculous. The woman who runs the place rings you up at the counter, you never get an actual bill, so you have no idea what you’re spending. This is basically a deli with decent food, and should be nowhere near that price. We tried it a couple of times, but won’t be back.

Stopped into this restaurant on my way home from work. I really like how the menu changes daily and would have come multiple times, but there are so many great restaurants around the area that I never had a chance to(not their fault!). Hungarian food is a rare find and generally something you have to learn how to make yourself. I had the sauerbraten, which was delicious and not as sour as I thought it would be. Keep in mind that as the food is cooked fresh on certain days, they do run out of things sometimes.

Yum yum and yum!!! Everything is homemade and you can taste it! You can taste the love in the food here. My mother and I split the Lecho and my father had the beef goulash. The portions were perfect and we all cleaned out plates off completely. We even devoured the bread served at the start if the meal. I had the spiced wine which accompanied my meal quite well! I highly recommend this place if you would like a nice homemade meal :)

I had a friend visiting from Korea and we were looking for a place to eat before the Boeing Fantasy of Flight tour. We found this little gem and since my friend never had Hungarian food we gave it a try. I had the stuffed cabbage roll with spaetzel and potatoes. It was very good and filling. I wanted to have dessert but I was too full as was my friend.

My son and I went on a Weiner Schnitzel hunt and started reading reviews. We chose Budapest Bistro Based on the reviews we read here. What a fantastic dining experience! Truly something special. The chef/owner reported that she makes everything from scratch(even the fresh bread) and I believe her! The food was truly amazing. This is a chef who really knows her way around the kitchen! Between the two of us we had the Chilled Summertime Fruit Soup, the Hungarian Cole Slaw, the Beef Stroganoff, the Weiner schnitzel with red cabbage, spatzel, a piece of cake and the Apple Strudel. I must say that every single dish was fantastic. We were not going to have dessert, but after the dishes we tried, we realized we would be crazy not to try. NOt that the cake wasn’t good, because it was, but… that Strudel was a life experience. Mmmmmmm. The owner is obviously a very hands-on kinda gal, she appears to be everywhere, and makes guests feel very welcome. The waitress is friendly and capable. I read other reviews who said is was expensive, but I disagree. It would expensive for a fast food budget, it’s true, but this was no fast food fare. The dishes are so unique and have many quality ingredients. So, when I look at the cost, I think it’s completely reasonable. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Five stars because next time I am in town visiting Seattle I will absolutely go out of my way to go back. This was one of my best overall dining experiences I have had in a while. It’s rare for me to have Hungarian but I saw the Unilocal reviews as I was passing through and decide to give it a try and pretty much every dish was either amazing or very good. Also, the service was excellent and both the waitress and owner/cook were very sweet. I was there for lunch and it was explained to me that the lunch menu changes every day based on ingredients and everything is made from scratch.

Lunch today: mushroom soup, Jaegerschnitzel, spaetzle, DAB(Dortmunder). Outstanding. Didn’t know they were here… first visit. Will definitely be back. I’ll need to figure out how to go light on the lunch to have a dessert!

Chicken paprika, spaezel, and homemade pomegranate iced tea. The chicken was super tender and the flavors just perfect. The spaezel was awesome, and it’s just cool how the menu constantly changes and its a new experience with each visit. What doesn’t change is the care and outstanding customer service. It’s not far off the I-5, so when you are nearby you MUST go!!!

Great little place in Mukilteo that I’ve been to about 4 times over the last year. All the main dishes I’ve had have been delicious and the spaetzle is fabulous. The service has been attentive and the owner is fun to chat with when you catch her in a good mood. The biggest disappointment has been the desserts. Maybe I go at the wrong time of the day but everything I’ve had has tasted like it’s been sitting in the deli case for a week or more. dry, dense, and that refrigerator taste. The last time I went I decided to say something so when the waitress asked me how my tiramisu was I told her it tasted old and dried out. She passed along that information to the owner and the owner definitely gave me the stink eye for the rest of the time I was there. So, go for the wonderful down-home main dishes and skip the dessert, you wont be disappointed.

Delicious and authentic! We had the sauerbraten and beef goulash, with spaetzle and ham & potato soup. All were fresh, homemade, and flavorful. My German husband is a wonderful chef, so we often eat authentic German food at home. He called the food«outstanding.» They also sell fresh bread to order, and have smoked meats, fresh pastries, and imported chocolates and other packaged foods.

It’s a small and cozy bistro, and they have a precise selection of the things they think their customers want. I say that because I’m not for there so there aren’t things I «miss» from the homeland, like a lot of their customers. Again, that’s awesome because she filling in a missing niche here. Love the home made deserts and the sausage selection, as well as choice alcohol. Mukilteo needs to support more places like this.

Believe it or not, Cleveland, OH has a very large Hungarian community. I grew up eating Hungarian dishes that my Grandmother prepared. Been in Seattle for over 16 years and just recently discovered Budapest Bistro. The food here is reminiscent of my childhood. Therefore, it brings a huge smile to my face. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to get authentic Hungarian food. Wonderful atmosphere. Great service and exceptional food.

*smile* This place is so adorable; it seriously warms my heart! I couldn’t believe it when I saw an ethnic German/Hungarian restaurant in Lynnwood… I mean, I don’t consider this area very«ethnic,» if you know what I mean. Nevertheless, I knew I had to try this place… and I’ve become a regular! It looks like you’ve stepped into grandma’s house. Everything from the knick knack decorations, to the owner sitting behind the cash register on a stool, everything screamed comfort and comfort food. And that’s just what you get. The menu changes daily, but every entrée comes with a choice of salad or soup and a side(usually spaetzle, rice, or potatoes). I’m a huge fan of the cucumber salad(cucumber slices in vinegar with paprika), beef stroganoff, and lecho(a jambalaya-esque rice dish with spicy sausage, peppers, paprika, and onions). I always go with the spaetzle, because, hello, they actually serve it, and it’s amazing! Be sure to save room for dessert, or at a minimum, take it to go! They have the most amazing and tastycakes sweets here. Favorite? Cream puff! They also import German/Hungarian candies, sweets, and ingredients, so be sure to take a look. FYI — this place is closed Mondays! Keep that in mind when you plan a visit. For some reason, I always crave this place on Mondays and go womp womp when I realize it’s closed.
