The food is amazing and their Thanksgiving cajun roasted turkeys are the best. Jodie, the manager, gives A1 customer service and really came through on my order. Thank you, Jodie, and thank you, Ralph & Kacoo’s. We’ll be back again & again…

Gumbo was good. Redfish was served warm and not much flavor, potato tasted like it was two days old, grilled oysters small and pricy. Waiter was very nice. Overall Not impressed.

The photos of the place doesn’t look too convincing but believe me, it is quite nice here. Ordering a burger, I requested rare and by God I received a bloody patty. It was heaven. Good food decent service, come here after pay day.

Popular local seafood zydeco restaurant with gift shop. Good service. Comfortable booths to sit in. Lots of free parking. My first trip to Lufkin from California. Wasn’t crazy about the yellow gravy on my stuffed shrimp. But the stuffed shrimp were good. The green beans seemed like soggy canned beans rather than fresh. Wonderful hot rolls.

Just had the blackened flounder tonight and it was good. The bread they serve before the meal is really good. The flounder was one of the specials for the evening. The waiter was inexperienced but friendly non the less. We have eaten there quite a bit over the years and except for one time it’s been good!

I had not eaten at R&K in a very long time because it’s just not in my normal path through town and I forget about it. I had a business lunch here a few days ago, though and I will be back again soon. The appetizer was good, but the bread and entrée were excellent. We were seated promptly and served by a personable waiter.

I came in for dinner at 9pm on a Friday and was seated immediately. Service was prompt and efficient. The stuffed mushrooms and side salad were tasty, if not exceptional. The grilled blackened catfish was tasty and hot. The portion was of a decent size. Overall not a bad place to eat. This place would be another chain restaraunt in larger cities, but for Lufkin it does well.

The mixed reviews on this place truly puzzled me. Many of the reviews give it four or five stars while some reviews give it one or two. With that being said, I will take the average of them all. I’m going three stars. The fried seafood is average to slightly better than average. My business partner said the grilled was good. This place claims to have a New Orleans background but I do not think the gumbo is as good as what I have eaten in New Orleans. It wasn’t horrible but wasn’t great. Some reviews complain about the cost. I guess because I live in a large city, I did not find this place to be overly expensive. Remember, it is seafood and seafood isn’t inexpensive. Granted, it’s not the cheapest place in town but it probably isn’t the most expensive either. Next time, I will order the grilled seafood and see if I like this place better than I did this time. Tip: They do have a large private room for private events.

Wow, that’s all I could think of at first! But, the Caesar salad, excel ant, just the right amount of dressing and fresh lettuce, croutons were fresh and not too much and not skimpy on the cheese! Then the rolls looked and smelled FRESH/Hot and just awesome, but on my current«diet» I’ve tried to cut down on my bread love, so skipped them. Finally the sirloin, cooked just right, almost cuts with the side of your fork, special buttery sauce on top, packed with flavor. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time.

This is probably the nicest restaurant in Lufkin. All of the food is DIVINE. If you want real cajun cooking, this is it. The other location of this restaraunt is in New Orleans. My party needed a restaurant we could dress up in, and this restaurant delivered! This place has cloth napkins and excellent service. There is a patio and bar for more casual dining. This is a classy, fun, delicious, and wonderful dining experience.

Had heard good things about this place, so I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s a chain, but a small one, so I figured we’d be in for something a step up. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t outstanding. I had the seafood platter which was certainly large on portions, but just about middle of the road on taste. Also tried the shrimp beingnets, and these were topped with an interesting sauce. Décor was very nice. Big fish tanks, dark wood, low lighting. Nice booths to sit in. Our server was a little new, didn’t know the menu all that well but he was well intentioned. He was also at our table a little too frequently, but hey, at least he was enthusiastic.

They do know how to properly prepare a rib-eye steak. The gumbo(dark roux) has good flavor with a latent spiciness that sneaks up on you. However, it might be of a thicker consistency than you are accustomed to. This was my experience. The rolls are consistently wonderful. They have pretty decent happy-hour prices, with Shiner on draft. There is a separate bar area with limited table seating. There is a HUGE covered patio. The appetizer I ordered was overpriced: $ 5 for five boiled shrimp. Other persons in my party really liked the firecracker shrimp appetizer.

The food was well prepared. Rolls were light and fluffy. The sauces were flavorful and the fish was just right. Be prepared for waiting. It took a while for someone to take our drink order. Another while for her to come back and take our order. A while longer for the food. A long while to get the check. Good food but not worth the $$ or the wait.

Lunch with the bride– In town swapping the junior dogs back the Boo and Lil Girl. We decided, hey, it’s lunch on a holiday. Let’s do this. R & K has been a long time small seafood chain. … We found out why after 3 decades they’re still small. Plenty of room. Nice décor. Clean, quiet. That’s the good part. Our waitress was less than enthusiastic about her job. If your in for lunch, this isn’t the place if you only have an hour. I ordered from the lunch menu and we were in there longer than 80 minutes. She was miss and miss again on the service. The only good thing about the food was the rolls and butter and for dietary reasons, we didn’t partake much. The cup of gumbo I had was obviously left over from the weekend. I had the grilled fish with crawfish ettouffee. There was 3 small tails and it too was left over from the weekend. I scrapped it off the fish. The green beans, weak, over cooked, prolly left overs as well. If I had to do it all over again, Sonic, Whataburger, etc for a fish sandwich. This experience makes you think that you take Dudley’s and Johnn Cace’s in Longview for granted. Not again.

We were staying at a hotel not too far from this restaurant and it looked nice so we stopped. The interior is fabulous. Looks like a five star operation in Dallas, Texas. However that is where«it» ends. Our young female waitress must have had her mind in some far away land as she was not at all interested in serving customers. We finally received a menu and she took our drink order and then we waited again for her to return. She came back with a basket of bread however the inside of the buns were still raw and sticky. They had been removed form baking before done. I ordered the shrimp and oyster platter and my spouse ordered the Chicken Gambereti. The oysters were about one inch long and tough and chewy and without one tiny bit of oyster taste. There were six and I left three on my platter. The shrimp was about medium size with an almost tasteless breading. There were six and I left two of them on my patter. One of the worst seafood meals I have ever had. I also was served a cole slaw that was uneatable. Contained some type of spice or was soured, I never could decide. The red beans and rice were delicious. I also had a hush puppy but as you will note from the picture I left that also as it was soaked with grease all the way to the enter of the hush puppy. I could actually squeeze the grease onto my plate. My spouse was served a chicken concoction that neither of us knew what it contained. The chicken was covered with a sauce that was not very good. She left half of her meal as it just was not eatable. Not once did the waitress inquire about our meal. I had to push my empty glass of tea to the end of the table to get her to notice the tea glass was empty. This meals were expensive by any standards, $ 17.99 for my oysters and shrimp. And while I didn’t mind the price I do mind the poor quality of food we received. The restaurant had very few customers when we arrived and we noticed that by the time we left there were just as few customers. Now we know why. The inside of this restaurant is beautiful with it’s dark woods however the food that we received was very poor quality and even poor preparation. Now we need to find a place for dinner.

I try and eat here every time I’m in the area. I’ve never been disappointed. Tonight was the cedar plank salmon. Cooked to perfection and rich in flavor. Steamed veggies was my side choice. Topped off the meal with the white chocolate bread pudding. Yum! Service is always good. Restaurant is nice and clean.

Held a secret birthday party here with a party of 16 and two under 5s. It was easy to book and our waitress was attentive. The CHICKENGAMBERETTI was excellent and we were able to bring in two birthday cakes our selves with no up charge. This is the second time here and we look forward to going again.
