Went here for our 29th wedding anniversary. Location is in a basement, that’s strange and dark.(Had to get out readers) The atmosphere is stuffy to say the least, but food is outstanding. It’s is so hard to get a steak both tender and flavorful. Bravo on both accounts. I had the filet mignon stuffed with goat cheese was delish but hubby got ribeye with vodka sauce it was the bomb! Will order that next time, sides here are not the star and some what lacking but will go back for steaks. Tiramisu was also really good. The price I thought for two steak entrées and dessert at 67.00 about average for what we got.

Tonight was our first visit. Our food was wonderful. My husband had the filet, and the steak was cooked perfectly. I had snapper and it was delicious. The portions were large, sides were good, and the waitstaff had great service. We will return soon.

The food was great. Sister took me out for my birthday and I had one of the specials, Filet Mignon stuffed with goat cheese and prosciutto. The service was very friendly and informative and helped us through the menu and allergies and ect. The reason for the high stars is valid for me, it’s because it’s the best place in Lufkin, and the only place like it in Lufkin. So they win for that.

The atmosphere is probably the nicest in Lufkin if you want a traditionally classic restaurant feel. It can be a bit eerie going into the basement of a building you walk by every day, but once you’re down there, you don’t think about it. My few times there, I steered clear of their Italian foods and went for salads and Chicken fried steak. Everything tasted fine, and the prices were reasonable, especially when you take in the atmosphere of the place. Manhattan Fine Dining is a great place to take out-of-town clients for business, or maybe for a first date or anniversary where you’d prefer a quiet room to hold conversations while you dine. Points for atmosphere. Food is nothing to write home about, but nothing to scoff at either. Service was pretty great too … fast and polite.

Fine dining? It is a nice place, but not what city folk would consider fine dining. Yes, there are tableclothes, etc. People are extremely nice, prices reasonable, but it is just another unremarkable restaurant. Spaghetti and Meatballs were not so good. Actually, the meatballs were pretty tasteless, sauce was really sweet. Homemade Blue cheese dressing was flavorless.

This place is fantastic. It is located in an old historic building in downtown Lufkin. It is down in the basement and has a nice wine selection. It is… most definitely, a great dining experience. They have stout drinks. They have excellent Calamari and salad. But, their filet mignon was straight fire! Definitely recommended.

Definitely a five-star restaurant considering it is in Lufkin, not to discount Lufkin, butt it’s unusual to find such good food, and good wines in Lufkin Texas. My wife and I had a romantic fine dining experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at Manhattan’s in Lufkin. First of all, I was not expecting the quality and taste of the steak that I received here. The filet was stuffed with goat cheese and was absolutely delicious. It was cooked to perfection. I also had an appetizer brought out that consisted of calamari, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms with oysters, and an absolutely delicious cheesy bread. The service was very good as well but was not overbearing. The wine selection seemed to be vast but I did not partake. I did notice that the wall is labeled and organized by country/region and the bottles are sorted underneath. They also package their various dressings and Italian dinners. You can apparently buy some manhattan frozen dinners to take home. I’ve never seen a fine-dining restaurant do this before. The food alone is why I ranked them five stars. The décor of the restaurant could use an interior decorator but since I’m not eating the interior, I over-looked it. All in all, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Very very good meal. TIP: They do have free wifi. However, since you are in a basement, there is absolutely no cell phone coverage. If you are expecting a life or death phone call, you won’t get it. If you tap into their wifi, you can receive text and check-in on Unilocal. You can also mark this review as useful, cool, or funny.

I can honestly say that this is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. My favorite is the Greek and Manhattan salads, which are the best salads I have ever had, and the bread is awesome! It’s located downtown, so parking is sometimes difficult, but it is definitely worth it. The food and service here is excellent! Highly recommend if you are in Lufkin.

You can never go wrong here. Although the menu has very good items, make sure you ask for the off menu specials. Great atmosphere, the salads are the freshest in town and don’t miss out on ordering a dirty martini! If you like Calamari, make sure you ask for the sautéed Calamari. Its not on the menu, but since ordering it sautéed we’ve never ordered fried either here or anywhere else. If your coming here for a quick bite, you may be disappointed. This place is meant for a nice, relaxing lunch. Very Very good, its our favorite Restaurant in East Texas.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and LOVED it. He was able to show up early and speak with the owner who allowed him to pick out the table he wanted and to put his own flowers on the table. They even brought us a yummy desert with candles in it! The food was great too! I recomend this place to everyone that asks.

Authentic Italian food with a great menu selection. Gluten free pasta choices available. The house salad dressing is amazing & I highly recommend the kabobs or eggplant Parmesan. Classy environment & excellent service.

Not what I would have expected this far away from a major city. This was truly a fine dining experience.

We were in town and the natives recommended it to us. Said it was a bit pricey, but we were in the mood for steak so we gave it a shot. EVERYTHING, from the raspberry vinaigrette salad to the warm toasty breadsticks to the filet mignon, was delicious. And for the 7 oz, 16.95 wasn’t bad at all!!! Highly recommend if you’re in Lufkin!

Not any better than a typical chain restaurant, but fancied up, slower and twice as expensive. I’d say I was disappointed but it’s par for the course in east texas.

Very disappointing. We had a business lunch here recently and I was not pleased with this restaurant. The service was slow, for starters, despite the fact that there were only four tables filled while we were there. The waiter failed to bring hot bread, straws, drink refills. Someone even spotted him sitting down, lounging, in a nearby room when she went to ask for more tea! Our food order arrived promptly, but many orders were less than satisfactory. I ordered the daily special, a pasta salad with spinach, artichokes, broccoli and grilled shrimp — which sounded lovely. However, it reeked of garlic, the small shrimp had absolutely no seasoning on them, and the dressing had far too much vinegar. It was most distasteful, literally, and I barely ate any of it. My table mates fared poorly as well. One had the Kobe beef burger, served on a burned bun and far overcooked. I doubt seriously that this beef had ever been massaged or fed beer. The«filet mignon» shish kebab ordered by another was tough and chewy, hardly a filet and more like chuck steak. Did I mention that the bread sticks were either burned or undercooked? In all fairness, the salmon salad was reported to be delicious, as was another chicken salad entrée. All in all, I would rate Manhattans a 2 on a 10 scale. High prices and low quality. Certainly not fine dining.

This is my favorite restaurant in East Texas. But it’s not the type of place to take your family for just a normal weeknight dinner, it’s somewhere just you and your spouse would go for a nice dinner or anniversary. I tend not to branch out though w/my choices. I like to start w/the sea scallops, which is 4 large pan seared scallops in some sort of heaven sent sauce. I can’t remember what they call the sauce but it’s amazing! Then I get the stuffed flounder. It’s a nice sized portion(but just 1, whereas the stuffed flounder at res lobster gives you two stuffed fillets) and it comes w/2 jumbo shrimp in some sort of peppery gravy like sauce. They’re specialty sauces are amazing, but from the little marinara and alfredo I have had from there it was a little disappointing. That’s definitely not their speciality. As far as comparing their stuffed flounder to red lobster’s… I feel like there’s is likely more fresh and less frozen than red lobster’s. Honestly both stuffed flounders are tasty, but the sauce over The Manhattan definitely sets it apart. I went for my birthday a month ago and i did find it odd that it was going to cost extra for me to get a cesar salad. A salad w/any other dressing was included though. Maybe that’s a fine dining thing, but again compared to red lobster it wouldn’t cost extra.

Really cool restaurant setting in the basement of a downtown office building. Tastefully decorated and an extensive wine selection from all over the world. The two servers working the lunch shift were also very professional, courteous and helpful without being obtrusive. They were the highlight of the place. The food was average to me. If you ask my spouse, the food was not good although edible. We had a calamari appetizer, chicken piccata and the crab cakes with shrimp. The calamari itself was crisp with good flavor and the portion was ample for an appetizer, but the marinara dipping sauce was different. After some taste bud reflection, I think it was the addition of cumin to the sauce. Additionally, the marinara was very bright red in color, as if it had been recently removed from a can and not simmered and slow cooked over the stove. The house vinaigrette dressing was lovely, with a pronounced red wine vinegar flavor and the bread sticks were tasty but of the brown and serve variety. The chicken piccata had one large chicken breast, cooked just right(not dry like cardboard) and accented with mushrooms and capers. The sauce had a pronounced lemony flavor and I personally enjoyed it. Now, when I ordered, the menu stated the entrees came with a salad and a side of pasta. I was expecting a linguine or even a fettuccine but instead I received a nest of spaghetti with that same cumin infused marinara on it?!? All on the same plate too! Flavor wise, the two sauces totally clashed(lemon & cumin?) and the pasta itself was fairly bland. The crab cakes had ample crab in them with little to no filler(excellent!) and they didn’t appear to have a sear or crust on them at all. That is a matter of personal taste but I like a good sear on mine. They were covered in a cream sauce that while delicious in its own right, seemed to overpower the delicate crab. Now for a complaint; when the menu states crab cake and shrimp, I would expect maybe 3 – 5 decent size shrimp of a 21 – 25 count. What appeared from the kitchen were microscopic 50 – 70 count precooked cocktail shrimp. They had that weird rubbery texture of cheap imported bagged shrimp that you can find at Brookshire Brothers in the freezer section. Oh, and there were about 4 of these bait shrimp. These shrimp were the tipping point to 3 stars, especially for a restaurant billed as fine dining. This entrée was also gifted with the cumin marinara spaghetti nest and went together just like a fish riding a bicycle. Yes, the atmosphere here is nice. It is fun to take the elevator or stairs down to the basement to this gorgeous establishment. I can see this being a nice first date place when trying to impress a girl. The food just seems a little too foodservice-y and straight from a can(or bag) to be called fine dining. If I wanted pre-made food, I would have headed to the OG. My spouse would have awarded this place 2 stars.

This is such a unique restaurant for East Texas. It is in the basement of an old multistory building. Taking the elevator down feels like traveling back in time to high class restaurant of the early 1900s. It has a dark, quiet, and romantic atmosphere. The waitstaff is formal and attentive. They have a wide selection of wine and most of the waiters are well informed about there selection. Most of the food is excellent. The more expensive items on the menu are very much worth it! Most of the appetizers are also very good. The escargot is especially tasty. I highly recommend the Manhattan for anyone wishing to have a unique and romantic date.
