Octagon Guitar Instruction specializes in beginner and intermediate guitar lessons for Adults and Children ages 8 and up. We take a modern individualistic approach to teaching guitar utilizing the students favorite music and artists to learn the fundamentals of guitar and beyond. We teach both Acoustic and Electric Guitar in Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Singer Songwriter etc.

History

Established in 2002.

Gartner Guitar Studio was started in 2002 by Richard Gartner located in various room in the Historic Latta House in Ludlow, KY. In 2009 we renovated the pool house into a state of the art studio. The building is octagonally shaped which we thought we be a cool name for the business.

Business Owner

I have been the owner and head instructor at Octagon Guitar Instruction/​Gartner Guitar Studio since 2002. I previously was the guitar instructor at Florence Music Academy. Prior to 2002 I was a Golf Teaching Professional both in Northern Kentucky and Florida.

I was educated at the Scott High School, and then the University of Kentucky. I have a strong background in secondary education.

I have performed solo and in band settings around Greater Cincinnati for over 10 years, although I don’t play out as much as I once did, I do still occasionally play gigs and weddings.
