Description

Specialties

House of Flavors Restaurant, located on the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan, in Ludington, MI. Our goal is to bring back family style dining to the way it was intended, by providing quality meals and desserts, a fun family style environment, and superior service. Our restaurant is a 50s diner chucked full with mementos of our rich history of our past including our vintage 50s jukebox and famous Life Magazine Cover. Specializing in fresh roasted turkey, wonderful specialty sandwiches, homemade soups, and of course some of the Midwest’s finest made ice cream. We’re sure to have something for everyone. Our ice cream served is made with pride by our sister company, House of Flavors Inc, which is located directly behind the restaurant. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It isn’t a trip to Ludington without a stop at House of Flavors!

History

Established in 1948.

In 1948 Bob Neal Sr. purchased 50% interest in Miller Dairy, then owned by Al Miller. At the time of the newly formed partnership the two changed the name to Park Dairy.

At that time, when Mr. Neal entered the dairy business, they were making five flavors of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate, lemon, French vanilla, and blue moon. It wasn’t until 1959 when Neal’s business partner decided to retire that Park Dairy quit processing milk and focused solely on ice cream.

In 1964 Park Dairy changed its corporate name to the well-known name of today — «House of Flavors». In the mid-70’s Bob Sr. partially retired and Bob Jr. opened 12 ice cream parlors with two friends. Unfortunately in 1979 the partnership dissolved and the parlors were ultimately sold to private owners. Many of them still have the name House of Flavors.

The two remaining restaurants, located in downtown Ludington and Manistee, are still owned and operated by the Neal family.
