Cafe 247

I really loved this place and the food! It is campy, retro, 50 ish something diner. The employee t-​shirts says it like it is… Café 247… In the middle of no where! Having driven by this place like a million times on our way to Vegas… I finally had a chance to visit with a friend here. Got there a little too late for breakfast (served till 11)… So opted for a burger! They must have like 8 different burgers that were priced between $ 4−6ish and for $ 3 more you can turn that burger into a combo with fries and a large drink. I opted for the Ortega Burger! OMG… it was delicious. Hand made patty, huge Ortega chili, lettuce, pickle and cheese. Yum! I just can’t wait to get back there again and maybe try something else from their extensive menu! Did I see «Chicken Fried Steak»? Well worth the drive to «the middle of no where».

Nice staff so we will give them three stars but burger was at best average if not below, onion rings ok and grilled cheese sub par… Defiantly expected more as the atmosphere was good.

In a homogenized and shrink wrapped world I like to try to find the funky, the homey, and the non corporate alternatives. This place is certainly out of the way — but the burgers and fries are GREAT! And the prices are actually lower than a lot of the crappy franchise chains (You listening Ronald?). May not look like much from the outside but they are wizards at combining ingredients to provide a savory lunch at a really reasonable price — it’s going to be my go to stop when I travel from Las Vegas to Palm Springs — really excellent lunch!

Tucked in the desert on our way from Death Valley to Palm Springs, we found this place that gets 5 stars for the incredibly nice and friendly owners and staff. They were closing but let us in with our two kids, made us grilled sandwiches and drinks.

Cutting through the valley en route to Bakersfield, we decided to stop and try them out. Their sign boasted the «greatist» (sic) burgers, and wanted to check that out.
Food did take some time, but the staff seemed to be quite small. However, very pleasant as we’re all of the patrons — who all seemed to know each other.
I will say, the burgers were pretty damn good and well priced. I will return on my next ride through!

Joanne is the best cook here! Everything is fresh & made to order. I usually just pop in for coffee. They have great prices on refills! Definitely worth the stop.

Slooooooooooow service .it took 30 minutes this morning to get scrambled eggs, ham and toast. Mediocre at best. Eggs over cooked, ham the Size of a piece of sandwich meat and a pathetic, small triangle shaped hash brown about 2 inches big.
Served with many apologies from a very nice waitress /​server /​counter help /​apology ambassador.
BTW LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE FOOD IS SERVED ON PAPER PLATES BEFORE THEY ORDER PLEASE. Thats, a deal breaker for me. Get it together people.

New owners! Food is great and place is much cleaner. had a Wow burger it was great had Ortega chili and bacon and hamburger much improved.

I had a great breakfast burrito this morning and now we’re back for lunch. Great grub! Don’t miss the fried green beans. We had Ortega burger, chili burger and cheeseburger, all excellent. Definitely worth the stop

Burgers, pizza, onion rings and milkshakes– all good. Friendly staff — snow boarding chef was super nice.

Great job on the remodel and the food is really good and very reasonably priced. Cute decorations and simple good food.

Came in for Burgers & Fries. Umm burger was ok. Beef was good. Hubby def doesn’t like thousand island dressing on anything. Fries seemed not to my liking. Eh. sorry. Atleast they offered another order fries but we didnt want anymore nor had time. Thanks anyway.

The boys and myself enjoy stoping by after a long day of playing out in the dirt. All the lady’s and gents are very welcoming and polite to everyone. I always put a spin on what I order and they’re always more then happy to make what I ask for. It’s my Lucerne Breakfast n lunch go to spot.

What a wonderful place in the middle of the desert where highways 247 & 18 meet. Good hamburgers and soft ice cream.

After hearing mixed reviews we were skeptical to try this place but we went ahead and we were not disappointed at all! The food was delicious, the onion rings and waffle fries were fantastic. Everything is made fresh and brought out by the chef. The service was amazing, what’s not to love about a mom and pop café in the middle of nowhere? Definitely looking forward to eating here again.

The fiancé was craving ice cream after our Sunday spent at Big Bear. We drove past this place and I saw a sign, pointed and said, «Look!» «ICE CREAM!» He almost slammed on the brakes, but we were towing a boat. So he drove until he could turn around safely.
My daughter had an oreo shake and my son had a cone. The large cone REALLY is a large size. It was true to its name. The fiancé had a sundae and I had the banana shake. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I was expecting vanilla ice cream with banana flavoring. Nope. It had REAL bananas in it.
We weren’t hungry because we had a picnic before we left Big Bear, but the burgers that were coming out of the kitchen smelled delicious. We will definitely stop in next time we’re in the area.
They have a seating area outside. We brought our pup along on the trip and don’t like to leave him in the car. So it was nice to have that option.
The staff was friendly as well.

Great Restaurant. a great burger joint. (among other things) the food is pretty good. the best veggie burgers by far. they used to be pretty good-​when they were made by the previous
owner. it was good but often dry. the burgers are alright and veggie burgers are good and all. i have been looking for a good burger joint and while this place has all kinds of yummy great food-​the SHAKES Included. the fries are great to. and are a beautiful nice Golden Brown. This place makes the best veggie burgers. and they are not always my favorite when i go out. Joann Is The best cook. and if you guys-​need an Extra Helping Hand around and need some more help with the place and bringing up the place. i will be happy to help if you are interested in hiring me.

Ordered a hamburger came quickly food tasted. Everything went really well really enjoyed the place

I always order my lunch over the phone and drive from the elementary school to pick it up on my lunch break. Its always ready and always correct. The staff is friendly I just with the prices weren’t so high. I haven’t eaten at very many Lucerne Valley places but this place is yummy.
