Hostelling International Malabar Farm

I feel honored to christen this hostel with the first Unilocal review. I have to say, it was like the penultimate get-​away-​from-​the-​city vacation to spend a night (and a morning) at this hostel instead of a hotel in columbus or St. Louis. I cannot say enough about the gracious host, she was marvelous and very helpful. The surrounding farm is actually a teaching farm, and you can learn a whole lot about chickens and horses and farming techniques and the history of the place. It’s really quite interesting for a non-​horticulturist like me. Anyhow, it’s really a great place if you like hostels, and if you need a weekend family getaway (and you don’t mind all sleeping in the same room), it’s probably the best value in the state. BTW: there are no campgrounds, but it’s the sort of place you’d want to go if you’re looking for outdoorsy stuff.
