Ulta Salon Cosmetics

The worst experience with ulta for balyag ombré, very very bad results. First the color wasn’t what I wanted it was totally the opposite, I brought a picture for an ash color and I got brass colored hair. I have brunette hair color and I knew it’s not going to be the exact same as the picture but at least the same category. The second problem was that you can see a line between my natural hair color and the new color which defines a failed ombré, I can’t describe how bad that was. My hair was botched. Then with 4 and a half hours appointment she tried to fix it and failed, told me that she will let her manager call me to try to fix it because «she’s more experienced» next day I called and she was able to see me. Tried to fix it but it was really botched and hard to fix. At the end I got my hair bleached three times, 4 times toner applied and still bad results. The color was better not what I wanted still and I still have this ugly line between the two colors. I think I overrated this place, I should’ve known that it’s just like supercuts and those cheap places, except that I payed them 160 $ to botch my hair. Ended up with damaged ugly hair. First and last hair color experience with this place. I don’t don’t don’t recommend it at all.

Because this store is always dirty and the employees are very rude for no reason. They are there to help and you should be happy if not why work in customer service? I’m not just a bitter customer but I’ve been to many other utla stores and the layout of the store might be the same but the customer service is like night and day. Also on a side note the Sephora in Lubbock Texas sucks!!! The head people really need to come to Lubbock to do an overhaul on the employees and store.

You guys. Seriously. Seth is a rock star and is so fun. I lucked into getting my first experience with him by randomly picking his name on the Ulta web page for the salon for an appointment. To my extreme excitement he was the best! Not only is he a friendly guy that I would want to stand with at any party or boring baby shower, but he really knows what he is doing with hair.
I came to him with a hard task. Giving me my very first ombré. I didn’t know what that would look like on me or even what color I wanted. Seth figuratively held my hand through the whole process and helped me find my perfect hair. I wish he would have been able to literally hold my hand, but he was busy doing my hair.
All of this to say, sometimes you don’t need that super retro hair salon in down town to be happy and have a good experience. I happy to have stumbled upon Seth and he is my Lubbock hair man for life, or until I move, or he moves, well, you get the point. MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT AND BE HAPPY FOR DOING SO.

I’m specifically reviewing the salon, not the beauty bar or anything else really– I have bought Redken shampoo/​conditioner and Body Shop tea tree face wash etc here, and I’m so happy that I can get Body Shop items here– ordering online isn’t something I always think of until it’s too late.
But the Salon. Hannah is the sweet girl who typically does my hair– she’s worked with me on color and cut, and although it isn’t exactly free reign with my hair, it’s pretty close because she is great at what she does and takes the time to listen and get to know her clients. Seth has also been around and I’ve seen him do magical things– but he’s just accepted a teaching position at one of the nearby cosmetology schools and so won’t be there any longer. I’m going today for a blowout only, not sure who I will see as I didn’t specify in my online booking who I wanted to work with– was more concerned about a time today. Will add to this later as I’m sure I’ll be happy with the results. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, and its location is really convenient for me as well.
***addendum following the blowout last Saturday. Not happy. To be fair to the person who did my hair, it doesn’t hold curl well ever, but I was pretty clear about that before they began curling my hair. Also expected the prettier, large bouncy curls– not only did it not last but they were more what I would qualify as kind of beachy sort of waves/​curl. It was alright when I looked in the mirror at the end, but I literally left there and drove home– to nearly nothing left. And by the time I got to my boyfriend’s house to go to our birthday party here was even less left. I’m so disappointed. And I won’t ever work with anyone but Hannah again. I know curl doesn’t hold in my fine hair– but I would think that a beautician would hear that– plus already getting a sense for my hair texture– understand it needs some kind of special help with this. So I’m changing my overall rating– but this in no way affects my original rating of Hannah. She’s awesome– they are lucky to have her.

I keep going back to this ulta and I’m not sure why because the cashiers are beyond rude. There have been multiple times where the cashiers have had horrible attitudes and have been out right rude to me for no reason at all. There are also displays out advertising a certain sale price, but when I go to check out, the items are regular price, because the employees didn’t not update the signage after the sale was over. When I asked the cashier if the item was supposed to be on sale, she fought back and forth with me about it rather than trying to help me or investigating what may have happened.
I have contacted a manager trying to explain that I love Ulta, but it’s not worth going back due to all of the rude cashiers, and she just said «okay that’s fine I’m sorry»
Not sure how this Ulta is still in business with such awful customer service. The beauty industry should be an uplifting experience, not something that leaves you feeling mistreated. The Ulta location in Lubbock has ruined what used to be my favorite beauty store.

This is a review for the Benefit Brow Bar. I have a special event tonight and came in this afternoon for an eyelash application. The girl who applied my lashes had no idea what she was doing and took four tries to put them on. I told her they were coming up on the inner corners and would be very upset if they came off halfway through my event. She made me feel like I was being needy and said they weren’t coming up, but she’d fix it «if I wanted her to.» I didn’t have her fix them, because she wanted to take both of them off again, to reapply for a fifth time. That’s just ridiculous. Plus, I felt she was very rude about it. Now it’s three hours before my event and both my lashes came off. Thanks for ruining my night! I will never, even get another service done here. PS I’m not from Lubbock– I’m from Dallas and am super missing Stormy from the Benefit Brow Bar at the Ulta at the Shops of Park Lane. She is the BEST. Every Ulta needs a few of her! My eyelashes NEVER came off, even for days, when she did them. So, so upset and disappointed, especially because I saw this coming.

I absolutely love going to Ulta! I always find what I come in for and much more! They always have great deals and sales. They also always have a coupon available for shoppers to use (either $ 3.50 off $ 10 or 20% off an item); during holidays they have special coupons. I am an ulta member and receive their emails, which have a lot of perks! Ulta provides a variety of brands to choose from; some brands are drug store brands and some are high end brands and some brands are offered exclusively at ulta! And of course, ulta has their own brand of skin care and cosmetics! This is my go to store for make up and hair care products!

They don’t have everything, but they do have a lot of good quality products that you normally would have to buy at a hair salon. However, if you need any help for any reason, HA! GOOD LUCK on trying to find an employee to help you. You can’t ever get any help in this store, and if you finally do see an employee and try and make eye contact with them to help you. they run away…

I came here to get a partial highlight, and had called a couple days earlier to ask about the price and it was supposed to be $ 78. I brought in a picture to show what I wanted, and it seemed like a fairly easy job. I came in showed the girl what I wanted, she told me she wanted to do the highlights on top and color underneath a little darker to get rid of some previous highlights. I told her I trusted her so sure why not (she failed to mention that would be another $ 50) She was extremely nice while doing my hair. It comes time to wash out the color and my hairstylist runs off and tells me she’s grabbing a toner (AGAIN she did not inform me that would be another $ 20) I get to the mirrors and my hair is AWFUL… It’s solid white on top and almost black on bottom. Getting highlights doesn’t mean having solid white hair. I was in shock, and had no idea what to do. It comes time to cash out and my new price was $ 173… And I was charged for an all over highlight not a partial. It ended up being 100 dollars more than I was ever expecting to pay for something that looked horrible. I quickly left almost in tears with no idea what to do. I finally decided to call back and see if it would be okay if I came back in and tried to fix it. They agreed and scheduled me again that day. The Second girl that did my hair was again VERY nice! She did the best she could with my white hair but It still turned out horrible. I asked to speak with a manager about a few issues I had with earlier. I first wanted to make sure the girl that tried to fix my hair would get credit for it, which she would! I then talked to Ashley about the price being outrageous and that I should have been informed of the price change as it was happening. She made a real bitchy comment and made me feel absolutely stupid, because I didn’t understand how coloring hair works. She then asked me what I wanted her to do about it. Umm I don’t know mam maybe give me my money back for an awful hair color that I am now going to have to deal with?! She ended up taking $ 30 off. WOW! Did I just win the lottery!!! I still ended up paying $ 160(I tipped both the girls that tried doing my hair) for one of the ugliest hair styles I have ever seen. My hair is currently fried and a nasty blondish yellow color. I look like Eminem back in his Slim Shady days. It’s safe to say I will NEVER EVER come back here to get my hair done. And I will be informing everyone I know about what salon destroyed my hair. I also won’t be shopping here ever again, anything I need I can get at Sephora and this is due to the awful manager (Ashley) that I had to deal with.

Went in to purchase make-​up for my wife. First I was asked if I had their reward cards. I answered no. Then she said «phone number», I said no again. With that the cashier was short & rude. I swiped my debit card and put in my pin. She grabbed the receipt and put it in my bag and shoved it in my face. Not a thank you, a here you are sir or even another word. I will shop else where for Bare Minerals after this.

This location is super convenient, as it’s right next to DSW and Target, a trifecta of shopping awaiting me after an hour and half’s drive from home. They keep everything I am looking for stocked pretty well, in all the shades I am looking for.
Associates are all very friendly and helpful, but I find that some of them have applied makeup to my face in a manner that I would never wear it, which turns me off from the product. Like literally, one time I asked to try out a shade of Tarte Amazonian clay blush and the MUA made me look like a two-​bit whore… needless to say, I did not end up buying the product. So, maybe ask to apply your own testers. :)

This was the friendliest Ulta I’ve been in! It was easy to find in the shopping center next to one of my other favorite stores… World Market. Stopped by for a few quick things and like most, it was well organized. The employees all greeted me and were overly helpful. I know I’ll be back soon.

As a typical guy, this place scares the hell out of me! The selection is huge in here and if there was something I needed to buy for friend/​family I wouldn’t know where to start. I went to watch our 3 y/​o daughter get a hair cut and it was mildly entertaining. The staff was friendly and didn’t seem to mind that I didn’t understand inside the store.

I buy all my hair and make-​up stuff here! Love it!
