Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham Lubbock

I stayed at the Hawthorn in Feb 2016 while I was in town for a conference.
I gotta admit — I was really surprised. 80 $ and I got basically a mini-​suite. King sized bed, kitchenette, sitting area and regular sized bathroom — plus, I was the only one in the room — so it was way too much for me. Room felt updated and reasonably priced.
Door access was simple and standard — cards always worked (stayed two nights) and the continental breakfast was available and acceptable. Actually, their little breakfast burrito was pretty good. I had two.
Great service — friendly people and check in and out was fast. We arrived late on a Sunday night and someone was actually awake and ready for us when we walked in the lobby.
I also had some family in town who I had a visit with on Monday night. The staff didn’t throw a fuss when we walked in late to visit for a few hours in their closed down bar area. We just sat on the seats and chatted.
Thumbs up. If for some reason I am ever back in Lubbock, this is a no-​brainer. Will stay here again.

Extremely friendly staff. I made a reservation in February and had to cancel due to work issues. The reservation was supposed to be non-​refundable, but the manager allowed me to change my dates. Awesome customer service! Each time I’ve stayed here, the rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious! I will be back!

I’m not sure that I EVER plan to return to Lubbock, TX but this hotel was great & I’d recommend it to anyone traveling there. It’s affordably price, offers complementary hot breakfast & happy hour, modern décor & rich fixtures! ‘D’ on the night shift was very helpful as well!

We stay here frequently for business and the staff is always super nice and helpful. However, it seems the housekeepers hurry through cleaning and miss things. On a number of occasions I have. found random items left behind by the previous guest. Every vending machine on every floor is out of water and tea and one doesn’t even work. The shop downstairs was out of laundry detergent for over a week. And this time the sheets are unraveling at the seems and there are holes in them — not sure why the housekeepers would think it okay to put them on the bed. To top it off, when house keeping comes they don’t change your sheets they just remake the bed. Either that or they have duplicated sheets with holes in the same places.

Great staff! Happy hour and breakfast is a plus. This will be my go to hotel in Lubbock.

What a nice surprise in Lubbock! Like new hotel. Staff came out from behind desk to greet us! Great hospitality. Rooms are huge! They also accepted our dog for additional fee. Have a small kitchen with fridge. Sofa pulls out. Would definitely stay here again if in area.

Traveling with just me and my kids, I was searching for a nice hotel that was in a safe neighborhood but not too expensive and I found all that in this Hawthorne Suites. Clean big room with microwave and fridge and table to eat at. Bonus was the free cocktails during the social hour and free breakfast the next morning. Would definitely stay here again when traveling to or through Lubbock.

The hotel is very nice and has a bar where they give you two free complimentary drinks Monday — Thursday, which is awesome. My room was beautiful and the people at the front desk were extremely friendly. Especially «D», who recommended a great Steak/​Brew house (Triple J’s).
But the best thing about the hotel was a bartender I met named Cole. Cole had me laughing and enjoying my entire night. Being from another state I really didn’t have much to do or anyone to talk to, but Cole made me feel right at home. There were a few other people at the bar and he was making every one of us feel like we knew each other.
Overall it was a great time, so I have to go out of my way to let the rest of Lubbock know if you’re coming to town, stay at Hawthorne suites! And make sure Cole is working!

Great staff, clean rooms, nice décor, updated rooms. The suites are really comfortable and they would be great for a lengthy stay. Pool is great, gym with cardio equipment, but no weights. Happy hour Monday through Thursday with 2 complimentary drinks. Breakfast included & yummy!

This has to be by far the best hotel I’ve stay in, in a long time. They resolve issues quickly. They remember you name. I stayed last week and when I walk in today the night manager remembered my name. This is my second week here and I have already made plans to stay next week. Inexpensive. Totally worth every dime! Clean rooms and wonderful staff! I would tell all my friends to stay here.

We have stayed here many times over the years to visit family and friends at TTU. The quality has gone down — even more since the new team took over in August 2014.
Their wireless internet has always been subpar in the rooms and on occasions in the lobby. Their claims over the years that they are addressing is false.
This trip TV and Internet went out, and the Internet was up and down all night. The shower curtain was so filthy there was pink/​red funk growing. Two of the lamps had their switches broken off. Lastly, if you like sandpaper for washcloths and towels you will love this place. I would have preferred to keep some of my skin but we had to use their linens.
And if you do stay there be warned the new led billboard will keep you up if you stay on the wing in the 325 room numbers and the parking lights will blind you all night as well on in the 324 ranges.
The new management obviously believes throwing money at the bar and lobby is more important. We will never stay here again and we still have 3 family members at TTU.

4÷15÷13 When I first entered the room, I thought to myself «Hey, this is a pretty nice room.» As time went on I kept finding a numerous things wrong with the room.
The tub drained awfully slow even while taking a shower. There was an open sunflower seed shell in the middle of the floor along with a persons sock in between the nightstand and the bed. The rail on the back of the desk was caked with dust.
Their internet connection might as well be a 56k modem because my browser would not open even though it said that I was connected. The signal is very weak. Although they do let you check out an ethernet cable, the internet is still sluggish. I don’t expect blazing fast internet speeds but I do expect the signal to be solid. I also found hair on the bed comforter and couch cushions. I returned to my room around 2pm 4÷16÷13 to find my room unserviced! Will not be staying here again.
The only benefit about this place are the two free drinks they offer you for each day you stay there. I’m certain its a gimmick to people buzzed enough to not care about any upkeep.

Kids had games here over Tech Homecoming weekend and late notice on play time left us paying $ 200 for a double queen. Definitely not worth the price gouge and wouldn’t have been real thrilled paying half of that.
Front desk lady called us about 5:15 to welcome us and see if we needed anything additional to make our stay more comfortable (fishing to see if we were going to show?). Asked for extra blankets and towels and neither were in the room when we got there as promised.
When we got there all looked ok. Large oversize décor and furniture offer a good façade. Door knob was not easy to work and had to be cranked on to get open and to get closed all the way.
Room was generally dirty. Bathroom door badly needed to be cleaned from top to bottom and a weird brown stain on one of the dust ruffles. Don’t think the room has had a good cleaning ever.
Bad water damage in the bathroom on the wall by the shower that just looked gross. Water damage in the ceiling of the room had created an open hole. Pretty good reflection of the upkeep.
The beside lamp wouldn’t turn on so we took out the bad bulb and replaced it with the bulb from the other lamp. Went to return the luggage cart and get a new bulb and were met in the hall by the manager who promised a new bulb would be delivered shortly. It never came so when we turned out the lights to go to sleep, we discovered the lamp wouldn’t turn off. Had to go back through taking the bulb out and ended up with one lamp by the kids bed side. Blah
Bed was soft which I prefer, but the sheets and comforter were worn and needed to be replaced. Bedding provided for the pull out couch was minimal.
We didn’t hear any of the traffic but the air conditioner was plenty loud and had a mind of it’s own. It went off and on during the night so we would wake up hot and then be freezing.
Wifi signal was weak and ended up having faster speed on my phone with it turned off and we did not use the pool or go to the bar.
Breakfast was fine but nothing special. Didn’t have to climb over anyone because it was early but I could see how that would happen.
Overall, this place was a means to laying down our heads to avoid being on the road early. I would opt to save $ 200 next time and drive early. To the management… this hotel has lots of potential… quit spending your money passing out drink tickets and clean it up.

Stayed here on a football weekend so we paid a premium price. The hotel is nice at the surface but once we were in for about 10 minutes we realized how cheap the place was built.
It is dirty. The lamps were dusty and the bathroom was really gross. The walls are very thin and you can hear neighbors on all sides clearly. The AC was very noisy and makes a loud scratching noise when it gets up and running.
This was a complete waste of money and I have no plans on staying here again

Dirty. There is dust on everything. The corners on the bathroom floor have dust and dirt piled in them. There are stains on the wall above the couch, in the bedroom, and in the kitchen. The kitchen has almost no utensils. The coffee maker has white crust in the water compartment and rust /​coffee baked on the heating element. Gross. I asked for another coffee maker and the one they sent up was worse than the one I have. All the furniture is very worn and should have been replaced years ago. Switch plates are dirty from years of use without any cleaning. One positive is that the staff is very nice but unable to fix anything. Stay away, stay very far away! I stayed for 3 nights and left for another hotel. Its really bad.

We are Club Wyndham owners and chose this hotel because it was only 1.5 miles from the concert at United Spirit Arena. The hotel looks new and the lobby and suite was very clean. The front desk lady told us we get 2 free drinks EACH at the bar (which was said to open at 5:00). When we went down to the bar, the bartender was late and they didn’t open until 5:45. Then we were told it was 2 drinks per room, not per person. When we returned to our room, we could smell cigarette smoke coming through the ceiling vents in the bathroom. And the walls are so thin you can hear the people above you and next to you holding full conversations. We probably won’t be going back to this hotel.

Pros– The Asian influenced décor was beautiful. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was larger than most hotel bathrooms where I’ve stayed. Staff was excellent. Access/​parking was good. Check-​in was quick and painless. Good breakfast selections. Extremely cold a/​c. Kitchenette with microwave, mini-​fridge, coffe maker & toaster was a plus. Our room was very clean. Loved the sitting area with a comfy chair and pull out couch. Price was right. It was close to Covenant Lakeside Hospital, which was the reason for the trip.
Cons– Wifi was not adequate. I could not stream a movie on my Ipad. That was extremely frustrating. LAN access was offered at the room desk, but you can’t plug a tablet into LAN. The window coverings were ugly and let in a lot of light during daylight hours. They really detracted from the room. The shower curtain was too short for the tub.
The big question is «Would I stay here again?» The WIFI problem is enough to keep me from booking this hotel again. If they can get that fixed, I’ll always stay here. If not, I’ll keep looking.

Nice clean rooms with a great staff! They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs even loaning me a fan from the office! Great STAFF!

The room was very spacious and the décor was nice, except the wallpaper and carpet clashed. It was a hotel that could be very nice if they would keep it up to par.
Pros: beds were comfortable, checkin/​out quick, rooms & bathroom large, slightly set to side nice kitchenette with table, living area with sofa and armchair. Nice sturdy doors to room, bathroom and closet. Layout of room was good. Comfortable. Right on a main hi way with easy access.
Cons: carpet wasn’t vacuumed under air conditioner, furniture somewhat dusty (ok, we are in a place the dust blows quite a bit), roman blinds didn’t work on one window, desk lamp had no bulb– yet was plugged in, small closet, the toilet had mold-​like coloring under rim, no trashcan in kitchen, sheets were terribly frayed on the top edges, although they seemed clean. The noise levels were high… could hear doors slamming all down the hallway. When we went into our room, the door wouldn’t shut at all… we had to change rooms.
Price was good and would have been excellent had the rooms been cleaned better.
