Lowell Portuguese Bakery

The products they offer are amazing. Fresh and great flavor, but I feel as if customer service could be somewhat better. Other than that, great food options.

They re-​opened! So I was thinking this would be a better experience! I went in and the same thing. I literally went in there for the same thing I went in there for last year. I went to get an Egg, Cheese and Bacon sandwich. The girl was like we don’t have cheese or bacon, we just re-​opened!
She was kind of young so in my head I go «Just re-​opened! Shouldn’t you be fully stocked and ready for people to come in». Plus I saw people in the place the night before getting ready. I couldn’t believe that they still aren’t selling sandwiches or anything else besides bread and desserts. I understand it is a bakery but again just going off the bakery I use to go to in Worcester. They are losing out on extra money.
1 Star because the coffee isn’t bad.

Bakery has gone down hill in the last couple of years. For example a couple of weeks ago I was craving breakfast sandwiches from there, it took a week of going in every day to get one. On the 1^st day they had no cheese, the second day still no cheese, the 3^rd and 4^th day they had no ham but finally had cheese, on the last day the girl tried to tell us they had no bread. I almost lost my mind, a bakery with no bread… She clarifies that they only have the small breads and not the regular one, I request 2 small sandwiches then and with a little attitude I finally get my long awaited sandwich!

This place sucks. They claim to have malasadas on the weekends, but never do. I drove 15 miles based on the good reviews but the first time I went the girl said it was coming later in the day. I ended up buying a sweet bread and some pastries and went home. A few weeks later I went back and the same girl said that she hasn’t seen the malasadas in a few weeks.
So disappointing but it’s not worth 4.5 stars.

You gotta try their bread that has cornmeal mixed into the batter. Sorry, I don’t know the Portuguese name for it. It’s not cornbread. It’s bread that is wonderfully chewy because it has cornmeal in the dough.
It’s a small, reasonably priced bake shop. It’s worth it to travel to that scary part of Lowell (in the daytime, anyway).
