One of the best place to work out! Basketball court, track, sauna and shower, cardio machines, dancing studio, personal trainers, free weights and ton of other machines. This gym comes with free towels and lock, oh and free parking. Becoming a gym member give you access to not only here but Castello gym for swimming and another gym at south campus. For $ 30 a month for a year membership is not bad at all. The only down side is the hour. In the summer it opens only until 9 and during school year it opens til 11pm. Also beware that during the school year, it is very packed during a certain hour and you won’t get your workout done as fast as possible.

LOVE Lowell Rec Center. I work many a basketball tournament here. Plenty of parking. Very clean always a decent temperature. Never hot or cold. Wood floors for the basketball courts which is always a plus for me. It’s a really good set up. Only problem I see is that the courts are somewhat narrow for the bench areas and the players/kids will sometimes be out on the court due to this while sitting on the bench. Never mind the«wandering» coaches that I usually bump into while I run up and down the sidelines. During big tournaments it gets awful crowded with all of the parents and kids waiting for their next game but somehow we manage. Snack bar area is pretty big with plenty of seating and a nice tv to watch the game. Workout areas look great. Plenty of machines and it seems to never really be too crowded. The only negative to me is the police trap on the Lowell Connector. :p

BEAUTIFUL facility. More than just a gym. They have raquetball, squash, pool, ping pong, bike repair center and much much more. Take a tour if you are considering UMass. The basket ball courts are fantastic and always look brand new and when you look up, there is one of the nicest indoor tracks around. There are tons of classes to sign up for, super friendly staff members, and every thing you could want from a gym. Great locker room. Free lock and towells to borrow. state of the art water fountains to fill up a bottle and vending machines if you don’t want to leave for a snack. Be warned, its not just students and the older crowds don’t like to wear towels in locker rooms. Keep your head up when you walk in. Free for students. Parking available with permit. If you forget your UCard, you get in 2 times a semester(I think, don’t quote me on that) with just your ID number. Much better than a $ 10 gym at home. If you commute, go here before you go home and save the expense.

Love this place! Its not as big as I would hope it to be, but it has everything you need! They have the basic necessities like locks, towels, etc.. . I love how the girl’s locker room is always clean! The sauna in the girl’s locker room is also amazing! They have all the machines you can possibly need to get a good complete workout done. They also offer workout classes, such as zumba, abs butt and core, kickboxing, ab solution, etc… I’ve taken a few classes w/Diane and lets just say ‘abs butt and core’ was the most intense class I have ever taken! Everyone is friendly and never judgmental at all! There is also 6 basketball hoops that the guys love; including my boyfriend! The track is also great. All in all great place, minus the fact it doesn’t have a pool(which is located at costello; the other gym.) Def. recommend this place!
