Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Don’t waste your money or time here. People there were very nice, but in the end the food was pathetic.

This is where I always go for Chinese. They know both my voice and my mother’s from the phone and know what we are going to order. There is a dish called«honey ginger chicken» which my dad and I call doughnut chicken because it’s so darn decadent. It’s like a piece of chicken inside the best pastry you’ve ever had, and you even get to have crab rangoons and soup with it for just $ 2. The hot and sour soup here is the best I’ve had. Not many people choose to dine in, but it’s a beautiful restaurant. I’ve had birthday parties here many years now and everyone leaves impressed and overtly full. My uncle takes his clients here that are from China so they can have a taste of home, they will make authentic food if you ask, otherwise most of what they offer is typical American-Chinese food, but the best you can get. Many of my well meaning friends have tried to show me «better» places, but none compare on every level to what I can get at Yen Ching.

I finally found my go-to Chinese restaurant in Louisville. Yen Ching is a no frills restaurant that serves up some of the best Chinese grub I’ve ever had. The décor is quite plain and drab, but when the food is this good, who gives a rats ass about the décor. Here are the highlights… Egg Rolls. Crispy and cooked to perfection. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Pot Stickers: Fresh tasting and filled with delicious pork. Hunan Chicken: Heaps of breaded Chicken served over a helping of Fried Rice. The portions were huge and decadantly delicious. Yen Ching reminded me a lot of the small Chinese places I tried on the East Coast. The portions were quite generous and everything I tasted was top-notch. I can’t wait to go back.

I mean, it is pretty stellar Chinese food. The entrée I got(which I cant remember the name, but it was a beef and chicken dish) was super fresh and nicely presented. The egg rolls and pot stickers were a delight. My only complaint is the sauces I got were extremely watery and thin, and so had virtually no taste. But I would certainly make the trip here again.

Visited for first time. Only 2 of us in entire restaurant. The restaurant is nice with a large seating room nicely presented. The look was 4 stars the food was 2 stars. I had chicken lomein which is hard to mess up but it was plain and had little flavor. I also was surprised how plain the won-ton soup was, as it was water with noodles. Very disappointed in they never asked how food was. Should work on using more flavor, better ingredients if you want repeat customers.

I decided to try somewhere different for lunch today when I was in Louisville on business. Normally if I was in this area I would flock to Shalimar for the Indian food buffet. Today I spotted this little Chinese restaurant right next door and decided to venture in. The establishment is very clean with freshly vacuumed cream colored carpets. It had numerous tables with crisp white table cloths and beautiful high back mahogany chairs. The older couple that was running the restaurant were quite cordial and charming. The lady greeted me, sat me next to the window and served the food. The older man was obviously the master of the kitchen. I was disappointed that the business had so few customers. There were two business men eating when I arrived that were on an obvous timed lunch hour. Then there was me(who took my sweet time and watched the foot traffic of businesses close by). The only other customer during this noon hour was a small call in/pick up order. How in the world can these folks afford to stay open at lunch time? As for the food the Hot & Sour soup was wonderful. I could have/should have made a whole meal out of soup. The main dish I ordered was pepper steak and it too was flavorful. The fried rice was rather disappointing but then again I really didn’t plan on eating it anyway to keep the carb count down so the several fork fulls that I ate was bland but o.k. I can’t say that I would be a regular customer but I certainly hope others will give this restaurant a try.

This place has a lot of sentimental value for my husband. His family has been coming here for years. He even had his first communion party here(over 20 years ago, wow!) The owners know him and my in laws by name and they always give us great service. They are also familiar with what we order and our preferences(i.e.: hot tea, extra shrimp, etc.). The food is fresh and made to order. The dumplings are plump and juicy. The fried chicken appetizer is good too. The Mongolian beef is flavorful and crispy. The noodles are perfectly fried and not soggy. The happy family is a great stir fry with a little bit of everything. This restaurant proves that not all Chinese restaurants are created equal. If you’re ever in this part of town, I highly recommend this place for fresh, tasty reasonably priced Chinese cuisine!

EXCELLENT! Great personalized service. I absolutely love this place. I have to say that I have been hesitant is writing a very well deserved review because I always get a great seat when I arrive an if all of you peeps starting going because its the best in town, I might have to wait. Selfish, I know. But the place is great.
