Stopped in on a road trip from Michigan to Mammoth Cave after finding them on Unilocal.Awesome selection of boots and wonderful owners. Don’t assume that what you see out is all they have. Lynn will quickly figure out your fit and style and locate the perfect boots for you. It was amazing to watch her in action with a totally different customer personality and we both loved our vastly different boots. The wonderful bonus is having Nick be able to fine tune the fit on one of the pairs so that they would be easy to break in.
You will only find top quality boots here so expect to pay but they are reasonable compared to price I paid for a slightly lower quality boot in Houston, Texas and here they will make certain the fit is perfect.
Their passion for their work and concern for meeting the customers’ needs is evident.

Having been a patron of the Leatherhead for 40+ years, I have enjoyed and admired Nick’s craft, as he remains a true artisan who takes great pride in his work. From handmade shoes and custom suede suits, to repairs to my favorite hobo bag (adding years of life and rejuvenating a much loved accessory), I have found that he can do anything, and do it conscientiously and carefully. It is very rare to find this level of excellence anymore, and I take exception to remarks made in another review-​obviously, this person has no idea of the time and labor required to do handwork and do it properly; Nick’s creations are made to last. And the fact that he was honest enough to suggest an option that would net him nothing (i.e., purchasing a new glove elsewhere, he doesn’t sell baseball gloves), speaks volumes about his character. He and Lynn are two of the most hardworking sincere business people in Louisville, putting their customers first and going out of their way to accommodate any request. The Leatherhead continues to offer superlative service to our community and is one of the best places to shop/​browse in town. Great store, great proprietors and always has been. I was reminded again today after a visit to the store, just how diverse the selection of merchandise is and how much fun it is to see friendly familiar faces when shopping local.

June 27, 2012 I dropped in with my old «Leather» softball mitt that needed a new lacing. I had checked online and i could get it fixed for 15 plus 8 shipping. I wanted to keep it LOCAL and hoped to get it fixed quick.
All hope was lost the second I walked in and found Rumpelstiltskin sitting in back. Can you believe that the old leather craftsman said it would cost $ 200 to fix my glove! I thought he was joking but he wasn’t — he even advised it was cheaper to buy a new glove for 150 bucks! What planet is he from? I guess making a few guitar straps for rock-​stars and selling a pair of boots to Johnie Depp went straight to his head. Later dude, if you don’t want to re-​lace my glove just say so… what an ass.-

You have a really talented craftsman here. Just go in to smell the place, but if you’re ever shopping for gifts, this place will provide high quality ones that could last a lifetime. He makes custom (expensive) guitar and instrument straps. They are awesome.

Love this place! Love the people. The husband is a skilled leather worker who doesn’t say much, but more than makes up for it with the magic he is able to accomplish. The wife is a spunky little thing in shorts and a spitfire mouth with a vast knowledge of leather goods, products, and services. They know their trade. To them it is an artform.
After searching the entirety of Louisville, looking for the perfect backpack, I found one here. I had tried several stores, each one more disappointing than the last and finally arrived there after seeing a cute red one that another satisfied customer was wearing. There, I was shown several beautiful pieces, but the one that truly caught my eye was a large black leather backpack. Imported, I was allowed to try it on and found it a perfect fit. It came a distance to find its grateful owner.
I had heard of Leatherhead before having seen it on the Oprah show where stars like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom like to shop. Never thinking that I would actually need it, it was simply filed away in my mind. Later, it rose to the forefront as I, too, saw what they had seen, two wonderful people who love what they do and have been for years. They are unassuming and not starstruck and treat everyone fairly. I enjoy them.
Later, after tearing my treasured bag, I returned for them to repair it. The job was superb, the work highly exemplary. and my heart was won! You would never know by looking at it how truly marred it was. They are an extraordinary team.
Leatherheads deals in more than just beautiful leather backpacks. They have clothing, boots galore, gloves, awesome belt buckles, and many more things that are just waiting to be discovered and treasured.
You will not be disappointed.
