I hate to give this venue four stars but it will have to do… And it is not regarding the food or the drinks but the service. We walked in sporting our Cards gear and empty bellies. The bartender looked at us as if we were crazy and told us to pick a seat. When going to grab a seat she ran over hurrying us along to another room… Only to throw a hissy fit, Yes… A HISSYFIT. She was screaming that she couldn’t believe it and that it was everywhere and this and that… I felt like I was in a bad movie and felt even more awkward as the tables dressed in suits and formal dresses stared at us as if we were scum. We had tracked in some water because it was snowing like crazy outside! I can understand wanting to clean it for your customers but to make the customers feel bad and uncomfortable is another thing. Well I ran to the bathroom to have a bit of a cry. It was the first day of my mental cycle but the hatred this lady had towards me especially was ridiculous. Oh, I also tracked water throughout to the bathroom which she was not happy about. But hey, a girls gotta cry! I can understand being in a nice hotel with flow that people can slip on when snowing… But again… When you make the paying customer feel like it’s their fault, that’s when we have an issue. I sucked it up and came back to the table ready for a fresh start. I wish I could say we had just that… But we didn’t. I asked her a question regarding the drink and I’m guessing she didn’t take it as a question because she turned away and came back a few minutes later. I then asked her the same question and she wasn’t paying attention and was talking about strawberries… I allowed her to finish and explained I was asking about the watermelon fizz and of course she replied with we do not have that. She seemed frustrated that I didn’t know what I wanted immediately after learning they did not have the ingredients for the drink I wanted. So I picked a random drink. I should have help my ground and tKen the time to order a drink. My toasted almond was wayyyyyyy to sweet. But it was tasty for the one sip I had! We ordered the fried green tomatoes to split as an appetizer and were impressed by them. The biscuits, cornbread, and sweet butter was our favorite. We normally do not enjoy bread as much as we did at Sway… But it was worth it. I went with the chicken and waffles while Andrew went with the southern chicken, greens, and potatoes. While our food was fantastic… Our server left us feeling judged and awkward. Maybe she had been stiffed by a uofl fan before with blonde hair. Who knows?! All I know is that I am willing to give it a second shot with a different server.

Hubs and I were in town doing the bourbon trail, and we had a hard time finding a restaurant open on Sunday night. We stumbled across this place, and I’m so happy we did! The shrimp appetizer was AMAZING, our drinks were great, and our entrees were perfect! The bartender — Ryan — was knowledgeable about all the bourbons that they had, and he was super fun to talk to! He gave us urban bourbon passports to help us figure out where to go when visiting the city! We will definitely be returning to Sway!!!

We couldn’t have had a better experience at Sway! We have been in Kentucky for 3 days and have had lunch twice and breakfast once. Linda is the most phenomenal waitress I’ve ever met. She is the true definition of southern hospitality. Our first day here she went out of her way to find out who was performing at 4th street live, then couldn’t wait to ask us all about it the next day for lunch. On our second day she introduced us to the chef because we couldn’t stop raving about the food, and then his sous chef who invented the«totchos»(a must try)! We asked to speak to the general manager to let them know how pleased we were with everything their restaurant had to offer and how amazing Linda was. I will be writing an email to management of that location expressing my appreciation for their wonderful staff as well!

Atmosphere was great and the Kelly the bartender was awesome. However I was extremely disappointed in my meal. I had ordered a petite filet even so i received a New York strip, not a filet. No forewarning whatsoever. I actually had to bring it to the waitresses’ attention. Did they think I wouldn’t notice? They did take it off my bill, but I am very disappointed that they did not notify me ahead of time. I would have changed my order.

We had just returned from a hectic weekend out of town, and had not made any plans for our upcoming 25th wedding anniversary. At the last minute my husband made reservations at the Sway, the new restaurant at the Hyatt where we had spent our wedding night. He had made a small note on the online reservation that this was our 25th anniversary. Wow!!! When we arrived the manager, Megan was there to greet us. She said that her staff was looking forward to providing us with a lasting memory of this night. I won’t go into all the details; I would just like to say that for the next two hours we were treated like royalty. The food, service and private room were all magnificent. The manager, chef and our server Andrea all went above and beyond memorable. The staff at the Sway genuinely enjoyed making our evening special. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. My family and I attended a wedding in Kentucky in September. We had heard great things about the restaurant and wanted to try the fried chicken before leaving. We ended up going after the lunch run and getting the fried chicken ordered on the bar side of the restaurant. The service was quick. The food was AMAZING! I ordered extra gravy with mine and ended up making chicken and mashed potato sliders from the AMAZING homemade biscuits they served. My kids order the baked chicken which was very flavorful. One disappointment was the mac and cheese. It just wasn’t good. We didn’t care thought because everything else was so stellar. We loved it so much we went back the next morning for a buffet breakfast before heading north. The staff was sooooo welcoming! The food was fresh. They had the most wonderful chicken sausage and more biscuits and gravy! I love this restaurant. We liked it so much that we’ll probably stay at the Hyatt it’s located in next time we visit Kentucky.

(Emailed to Hyatt Corp) Dear Hyatt Regency Exec Mgnt, Wanted to take a moment to express how much I enjoyed the outstanding service from Linda this morning in Sway restaurant at the Louisville Hyatt Regency. Her attentive, friendly and kind service was literally like sunshine. I’ve travelled every week this year,(85 nights at Hyatt and counting), I’d nominate Linda as one of the shining stars for 2015. I sincerely appreciated her warmth. She even walked out of the restaurant to Einstein’s Bagel in the lobby to pick up an iced café mocha for me(so unexpected and very exceptional). Please forward my appreciation for outstanding service to this hotel’s management team. Thank you. Linda’s caring and friendly attitude make traveling a whole lot more enjoyable.

I had a few hours to kill while I was in KY for work staying down 4th st. Seems like a cool avenue, blocked off with a stage in the middle and a lot of restaurants. Wandered around until I stopped something that seemed a little southern and not a chain. Didn’t realize Sway was attached to a Hyatt and popped in for lunch. Loved the décor of the place. Had dinner plans with the work crew so only wanted a lighter lunch. Opted for the brisket sliders. Pretty darn good I must say. Brian let me know that they focus on a local and farm to table and it showed. The buns were super fresh from a local bakery. A great crust with a soft interior. Inside was some killer smoked brisket with a bourbon BBQ sauce. I also threw a smoky local hot sauce on it. Too bad I had to save my appetite for dinner and it’ll be next year that I get back to Louisville, because I want try everything.

Went here for lunch week and it was a great choice! The meal started off with mini corn muffins and biscuits as we looked over the menu – definitely tastier than the traditional bread served at restaurants. I then ordered the citrus and berry salad followed by the farmer’s pick grits entrée. I love fruit and nuts in my salad, so it was perfect for me! The put the dressing on the side as well, so you don’t have to worry about it being drenched with extra calories if you don’t want. The grits were delicious! They came with tons of vegetables and and mushrooms, and mixed together it felt like a healthy and hearty meal! Loved it! In addition to the food, the I loved sway because the service was amazing! The staff was very attentive and so sweet! If you’re like me and traditionally avoid hotel restaurants, Sway is the exception and you should give it a try!

Sway is a beautiful restaurant within the equally beautiful Hyatt Regency hotel, and the food is delicious! The service, however, needs some work. This early Tuesday evening was very quiet in the restaurant. A few business-looking people in the bar but a completely empty dining room. As suggested by many reviewers, I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, and it did not disappoint(although I was heckled by friends about ordering $ 24 fried chicken). Our waitress said the chicken would take 25 minutes to prepare, and this warning was appreciated and accurate as well as the chicken being worth the wait. This, folks, is a lot of food, which, as usual, I ate it all. Four pieces of chicken: leg, thigh, wing, and breast. All of it delicious, and the breast was incredibly tender — fell right off the bone! The«creamy mashed potatoes» weren’t so creamy and instead extremely dense, but I enjoyed this… no complaints there. The gravy(served on the side) and the greens were lip-smacking good(this is southern food, y’all!). Sway has an extensive drink menu, and I decided to try the Bourbon Rita(yes, it’s a bourbon margarita), which was very tasty. It took at least 15 minutes to receive the drink(I actually forgot about it, so it may have even been longer), and the drink originally came out incorrectly as a Bourbon Berry. The drink was quickly replaced, however. For the bar being close to empty and the dining area being completely empty, I was disappointed in how long it took for the drinks to come out. We were also promised more bread(complimentary biscuits and cornbread, which is a cool idea), but they never arrived(we didn’t need them so didn’t bring it up). With better service, Sway would be an awesome choice for a meal. If $ 24 for fried chicken doesn’t scare you, give it a try and hope for good service!

We had a deal through , so we decided to fine dine at Sway. I ordered the fried chicken, and my wife got the pulled pork sandwich. The fried chicken was good — crispy with tender white meat. The pulled pork sandwich was also good, but it was smothered in too much BBQ sauce, making the bun soggy and falling apart. We also ordered two of the lemon fades, which are better than those at other places. Overall, Sway is a good choice — good food and friendly staff. But the food is overpriced; three prices of fried chicken should never cost $ 24, especially when more causal joints offer equal or greater options for half the price.

So since my last review, it seems changes have been made. Love the farm fresh choices here with vegetables served over Weisenberger grits. Tomato fennel soup texture and taste perfect for record breaking snow. Apple dessert made of real apples, and tasted very pure. Such appreciation. Thank you

This bar is nice for a hotel bar. It’s really bright inside and there is never a lot of people in here. I got the Bourbon Berry and it was delicious! If you like fruity and want Bourbon, I suggest getting it! It’s the best of both worlds. This bar was on the cheaper side of the majority of the bars we have been to while in Louisville. Still expensive, but not as expensive as some other places we have been to.

We were here for their breakfast buffet before heading back home after Thanksgiving. A bit pricey at $ 19 per person but a decent offering and it was convenient as we were staying in the hotel. The buffet is inclusive of damn near everything on their menu. They will offer and you can have french toast, eggs cooked to order, pancakes, waffles, etc. Those items are not on the buffet — they prepare them fresh to order. One very pleasant note: they offer Einstein’s bagels on the buffet in addition to the usual offerings.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night in October. We had reservations at 7:30. When we arrived, the place was practically deserted, though I’m not sure why. We were seated right away, and our waitress was very hospitable. I drank the«Bourbon Berry» cocktail, which was delicious. They have a great selection of bourbon. When our waitress came to take our order, we hadn’t completed decided, so we wanted to ask for her recommendations. We knew we wanted an order of the Shrimp and Grits, because I had heard they were the best in town. I’d also heard the Southern Fried Chicken was great, but my friend was leaning toward the Ribs. When we asked the waitress which of the two she would recommend, she replied that she would ask the chef to make us a combo plate with both the chicken and the ribs! Talk about impeccable service. I’ve never dined at a place that has offered to do this, and I was very impressed with their service. It seems like they really want to please their customers. The food arrived and everything tasted wonderful. Hot, fresh, well-seasoned, and great flavor combinations. The Shrimp and Grits were my favorite. While the food tasted great and the service was fantastic, something holds Sway back from my five star rating. I can’t quite put my finger on it… It was a delicious meal, but not something extremely memorable. The prices seem to be high for what you get, although not outrageously so. I enjoyed my experience at Sway, but didn’t leave feeling like I couldn’t wait to come back. In fact, it is the type of place I’m glad I tried, but would be fine if I didn’t return. Perhaps that’s because of their limited menu choices, and because Shrimp and Grits and Fried Chicken aren’t foods I’d typically want to eat on an average night. Anyway, that’s my attempt at an explanation for withholding the fifth star. Overall, Sway has delicious food and service. It’s definitely a place you want to try at least once. You won’t be disappointed if you eat here.

Sway is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or happy hour. The atmosphere is cool and it’s great in the summer when they can open the front windows. The cocktails are delicious and they have a great bourbon selection.

Since we stayed at the Hyatt, we ate at Sway every morning at the breakfast buffet. The staff was really nice to accommodate me with to-go boxes and let me take it back to the room. It’s a large buffet with several options, mostly healthy but also some southern comfort foods like sausage, biscuits and gravy. I stuck to the healthier egg white scramble with onions and spinach, the occasional bagel, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee. It was all good. We also had room service which was prepared by Sway as well, we ordered steak and shrimp dinners, with a couple Bourbon Barrel Ales on draft to the room. Very nice. Everything I had at Sway was delicious and all conveniently located inside the Hyatt.
