If you like horrible slow service, a drive thru order taker that can’t hear but won’t remove scarf and not getting your paid order, this is your place!!!

After late night holiday shopping, my friend and I ventured to this Steak N Shake. It’s known for its burgers, fries and milkshakes. Walking in we were greeted by filthy tables but no hostess. After standing around for 10 minutes a server finally acknowledged us. Only 2 servers were there for the entire restaurant. This seems to be an ongoing issue — always understaffed. As we sat down, our server let us know shakes were not an option. The restaurant was out of ice cream. We later learned they were also put of napkins and ketchup. Instead we got ripped up paper towels from the bathroom and ketchup packets. Thankfully, our burgers and fries came out quickly. Always greasy, always consistent. The slaw and chili is also worth adding on. And when they actually have ice cream, milkshakes are a must have. It’s a shame this restaurant continues to go downhill in service and cleanliness. I enjoy the food and would bring my family more often if I didn’t feel disgusted and aggravated during the visit.

Cookie Butter Shake — This is a Junior size $ 2.89 24 Hours. Can get really crowded at times. They have cheap food $ 4 menu & their food is not the best quality. When you’re hungry — you can count on Steak & Shake to be open at all hours. Wide variety of shakes though many are very sweet. I also like the Orange Freeze, one of my favorites. Spicy fries are good.

Meal: Breakfast/eat in Order: 2 cheddar scrambles, one without onion, both with bagel. We split a sausage and gravy as well. Result: they forgot to minus my cheddar scramble of the onions. Which resulting in me eating about a third of my meal before biting a big ol fork full of caramelized onions. This might sound great to some but I hate onions and told the waitress twice to make sure it was clear. The rest of the meal was fine, but this really mad me irritated even when I ask for this simple changed to the order. Other: In addition to this onion incident, we could hear all the staff talking badly right next to us. The booth was opposite side to the preparation station for drinks and things. A couple across from us, where just in disbelief in what they heard. General: Majority of time when I eaten here it’s be great. Foods very good, normal portions, quick staff and never disappoints.

Food was above average for a steak & shake but waitress took forever to bring us simply water. Overall a decent experience. As always the hot fudge brownie shake was a success

Every few months I forget why I don’t eat here. The last 3 times or so, they’ve messed up my order. Ask for a double, get a single, ask for a bacon cheeseburger, just a cheeseburger. Not something you’d think was that big of a deal except it happens consistently. And that’s probably the only consistent thing about this place. Their food quality, as you can imagine, is pretty spotty. Not to mention apparently a once 24 hour eating space closes at 1030? Drove up with a full dining room, so people had been there for longer than 20 minutes to be told that they were closed without any other explanation. Pretty thankful, as it probably saved me from another disappointing experiance.

Not the best Steak & Shake experience I’ve had. Wasn’t very clean, quite a few dirty tables and a lot of trash on the ground. Service wasn’t bad but forgot part of the order making the meals come out at separate times. Food quality was that of your standard Steak & Shake. Probably won’t be back to this location again mainly due to the cleanliness of the restaurant.

Whatever you do, do not… and i repeat DONOTORDER breakfast from Steak n Shake: — the scrambled eggs were dry and flavorless — bacon slices were thin, flaccid slivers of fat with no meat — the country skillet was a mushy mess of gravy, eggs sunny side up, a sausage patty and hash browns. I would pick Denny’s any day over Steak n Shake for breakfast. I give this location 3 stars for the taste of their burgers, melts, chili and chicken tenders. But the breakfast is possibly one of the worst I’ve eaten so I’ll give the Steak n Shake breakfast a 0.5 stars or even a 0. The only redeeming factor was the quality of the service when I went in to pick my food up. So the average rating is a 2.

By far one of the most terribly designed restaurants I’ve seen in a long time. The front counter where you order your food is way too close to the door, so rather than having an orderly line, it’s just a huge mob. They also for some reason have a bunch of claw machines right next to the counter so there’s always a bunch of kids crowded around there so there’s no space to stand. The employees are also very unfriendly and not very helpful.

Worst Steak and Shake I’ve ever been to in my life! The food was horrible, the service was worse, and I waited an hour and a half to get my food! The people who occupied the table next to us didn’t get their drinks until 20 minutes after they arrived! That’s ridiculous.

Walked in once with a friend and they asked us if we were just getting shakes… we said yes. They told us they weren’t making them anymore? No explanation or anything. We just left. Very rude :/

Food was good… not what I ordered but it tasted just what I expected. Service was attentive and nice. Cashier was missing… I mean all servers noticed us waiting and yelling for the cashier. It took the cashier several minutes to get to her register so we just gave our tip directly to our server. This place needs better management.

This is the worst Steak N Shake. I had vowed not to come back, due to terrible service. It has been over a year and decided to give them a try, for breakfast. Will not be back. The food is just OK and does not make up for the terrible customer service. I had to practically beg for a drink refill. My husband had a piece of plastic in his food.

We went there for a semi-quick meal before a couple of kids’ events in the eventing. of course we have been there quite a bit and we never expect great service, but we don’t expect or want BAD service either. We were seated and my 8-year old had to ASK for a children’s menu. I had to go up and get it, and get the crayons as well. The manager just seemed uninterested. We ordered quickly and both kids got shakes. The food came out about 10 minutes before the shakes did. The food was average. It seems like the patties have gotten smaller. One of the most iritating things was that the server dropped, yes dropped, the plates on to the table. That is just rude. All in all, I was not happy with this experience. Maybe next time it will be better.

I had a chocolate shake at Steak N Shake tonight. There was nothing chocolatey or shake-y about it. It tasted like chemicals. UGH! No thanks.

Old School can Still School Others! I think Steak and Shake is the perfect 24 hour restaurant. I have never been in a dirty Steak and Shake, for the most part the staff is nice, and it’s much better then Breakfast food at a late hour. This Hurstborne Restaurant is no exception, classic milkshakes and patties. If you want some super skinny fries with cheese, come on down. The cost of Steak and Shake is always cheap for the food amount you receive. This location is great if you are under 21 and looking for a place to continue your date after that movie you both saw. Having said that, there are a lot of the younger crowd, we have no where else to go, in Steak and Shake. So if you can tough out the teens, you’ll get a cheap meal with a sweet desert!
