While Smoothie King was first established in 1973, this location on Bardstown Road in the Highlands opened in 1999. In December 2015, Hunter Tigert and his wife Tiffany took over ownership and operations.

Hunter got his start with Smoothie King in February 2010 as a team member at a mall kiosk located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. By the end of 2010, he became a store manager for the biggest franchisee in Nashville, and managed 3 locations over the next 4 years and helped to open the first Smoothie King Food Truck. Hunter always wanted to own his own business, and decided to look into franchising a Smoothie King. He bought the Bardstown Road Smoothie King in December 2015 and plans to expand over the next couple of years.
