Señor Iguana’s

My favorite Mexican food in Louisville and probably the only chain I’ll ever love. Everything always tastes so fresh and the service is great. They have an awesome lunch menu and good margarita deals. I always get the chimichanga or fajitas but everything is pretty tasty!

Excellent experience. Food was super fast and good. We both got quesadillas. One with chicken and one with shrimp. Delicious! Also got a $ 4.99 margarita that was perfect.

For me, Señor Iguana’s is one of the better chain Mexican restaurants. Usually, the service is good, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is tasty. I’ve eaten at two locations in the Louisville area and have always had a really good experience.
This night, I tried a different menu item than my usual. The «Chilli Verde» burrito contains pork simmered in a zesty «green» sauce. The pork was tender and absolutely mouth-​watering. I don’t know why I never tried this menu item earlier (I’ve been missing out on some real «goodness», sniff, sniff).
The one thing that was a little odd on this visit was the service. Normally, the service is good, attentive and prompt. However, not on this night. I think that maybe we arrived at an odd time when there was a communication mixup with the servers. The restaurant was not crowded at all, so the questionable service was not a result of that. The guy who served us seemed to do it as a afterthought. Every time he came to the table (which was not that often), he seemed to have his mind on something else other than us. Mind you, the service was not bad, it was just «distracted», which was a little annoying. On a lighter note, the food more than made up for our «distracted» server.
I’ve always had a pleasurable time when I have eaten at any location of this chain restaurant.

This was my second visit to Señor Iguana but at a different location. I must say the taste is almost consistent and the portion size is HUGE at least for dinner. I called for Chicken Chimichanga (option of shredded chicken) with spicy red sauce, simply loved the spice with my Chimichanga different from the other Mexican restaurants. My husband called for veggie chimichanga, he simply loved it but had to box some of it :) and my Dad who has come from India to visit us called for Burritos– Shrimp Diabla was delicious too. All in all a good experience, Good dine in space, friendly staff and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this.

Here for lunch with my son. My 1 st visit. chips and salsa [free] some of the chips stale, salsa O. K white dip excellent got a refill ! My son had Carne Asada rice beans and a burrito with white cheese sauce-​all were excellent –I had chili rellinos with cheese sauce –stuffed with cheese and deep fried-​some Mexican restaurants have theirs baked-​Not good when they are small squares baked ugh, had chimichanga and those were very good also-​both rice and beans very good. Waiter was a little upset with me, I’m disabled-​with mobility and I use oxygen they seated us on the opposite side from the restroom, it took me longer to get to restroom than a normal person and there was only 1 other table with customers; As soon as I got back to the tablel The waiter asked if I was ready to order; I had just opened the menu; he seemed upset with me. All in all food good service fast and tasty,

It was our first time here. Ramone (manager) stopped to welcome us and to help us with the menu = awesome!
We ordered beef fajitas (awesome), combo enchiladas (not good) and beef taco (tasty), and the chicken tenders and pizza rolls kid’s meals. On Kid’s Eat Free Tuesdays, kid’s drinks are not included with the kid’s meals.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. Customer service is awesome = 5 stars.
The beef fajita meat was exceptionally good. Note: The cheese (on everything) is that cheap shredded processed american-​type food product, which basically ruined the taste of what was otherwise a tasty meal.
We also ordered the fried ice cream and the homemade flan for desserts. Delicious!
This location didn’t feel very «casual,» despite it being a kid’s night. If we go again, we’ll definitely leave the kids at home.

Service was great. Food was better than average Mexican food. Can walk to Ramirez but rather drive here.

Service was good. Food was hot & delicious. Music played sometimes. Nice draft beer selection.

Meh. Not one of my top choices for a Mexican restaurant, but it wasn’t terrible. Generally, these types of Mexican restaurants are all the same — free chips and salsa, the same menu choices, food pretty much tastes the same, etc. It’s usually pretty hard to stand out for the good or bad. I’d put Senior Iguana’s closer to below average.
They have excellent drink specials during certain times, which include $ 2.99 house margaritas and $ 2 domestic, $ 3 Mexican 32 oz beer. However, the margarita was nothing special, and I couldn’t taste even a hint of tequila in it.
The food wasn’t much to get excited about either. The salsa was very watery. Along with the salsa, they also bring out a white, ranch dip for your chips. I got excited because I love Chuy’s jalapeño ranch dip that is provided with chips. Unfortunately, Iguana’s ranch dip was not good. At all. I couldn’t eat it and I’m a ranch-​freak. Maybe my hopes were too high because of the other jalapeño ranch dip. The queso was fine, but I’ve never had bad queso. I had the fajita quesadilla ($ 11) for my meal. The portion was large, and each slice contained plenty of chicken, peppers, onions, and cheese. The flavor was average, but the tortilla was flimsy and soggy, not crisp. You definitely couldn’t pick it up with your hands to eat it.
As others have mentioned, the service was good. The employees were friendly and our server took care of our needs in an efficient manner.
Overall, it’s a slightly sub-​par, typical Mexican joint. I think it’s better than El Nopal, but other than that, there’s better Mexican choices.

Had chips, fried ice cream and a frozen margarita… all of which were horrible. The chips were not salted and burnt, margarita was from a machine and fried ice cream tasted like it was rolled in Corn flake cereal. My sister however did enjoy her cut lime atop the margarita and the chocolate drizzled on her plate.

Love that the chips are not salted and salsa has lots of cilantro — yummy. Both times I’ve been have gotten the fish tacos (I don’t eat chicken or beef) and always fresh.

Food was awesome! We enjoyed ourselves, best fish tacos I have had in Louisville. It was Saturday, would really like a «happy hour special» on drinks, none was offered to us.

Stopped for lunch… street tacos were to hot and spicey to eat. Also had taco salad with chicken which was very good! Service was good. and very quick!

A lot of people love this place; maybe I am just ordering the wrong things. I have been there 4 times because my coworkers like it. Nothing really bad, nothing really good. I would only recommend the tamales as tasting authentic, the rest of the food is forgotten by your next meal. I will say, their lunch menu is more than fairly priced and you do leave full for less than a ten spot.

Food is decent. Good happy hour for margaritas though. The shredded chicken can be pretty juicy, making tacos hard to pick up, so I have started getting the burritos. Everyone loves this ranch-​like dipping sauce, and their salsa is pretty good.

I have eaten at several Mexican places over the years and this place is my Favorite! The salsa is excellent (but heavy with Cilantro, so that depends on your pallet) and comes in mild and hot. The queso is standard, but I mix it with the salsa and create my own magic :-) The chips are dark and not salted (which I love!)
I generally order the Chicken Fajita’s. They are wonderful. They come with a side plate of rice and beans, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, and lettuce.
I have also gotten the crunchy tacos ala carte and they are airy and tasty. Friends love their fish tacos and salads as well. I had a birthday part y there last year and the Margaritas were fabulous as well.
I would recommend this place to anyone. They also have TV’s and I have watched many games at several locations and they will keep refilling the salsa and chips.
I have been to all locations except Central Blvd by UofL and would recommend all of them!

Had heard greAt things about the place. Finally came here.
Service was cool. Very funny guys. They joked with us about Irish Whiskey, as I knew more about their selection than they did.
Food was awesome. Tons of it for what you pay. No small portions.
I can’t wait to try this place again.

You get so much more than what you pay for here. I was a regular at the UofL location but this location is even better. It’s very nice inside and isn’t like your average Mexican restaurant. We sat at the bar and had $ 3 frozen margaritas. I got the tamale with rice and retried beans and my boyfriend got the carnitas. Both of our meals were tasty and the service from the bartender was great. Enrique gave wonderful tequila recommends and was very friendly. They also have a patio with a water fountain I’m excited about when It warms up! With our meals, 3 margaritas, a 32oz import beer and a nice shot of tequila, we spent $ 31 before the tip!

Had the chicken lunch fajita and it was really good. Came with rice and black beans. Plenty of food and all was really good. Service was good too. The salsa was fresh and great. Had lots of cilantro.

Let me start by saying if you like a different breakfast try their breakfast. I think they put more care and effort into the breakfast menu.
Ok, so this was my second time here, first for dinner.
I really thought this was going to be different, and wow me. The décor is good, staff friendly, and TVs help make it a good game watching place.
As far as the food, well it’s ok, but left me disappointed.
I had a burrito with chicken and a pablano combo. The burrito was covered in a red sauce which was strangely more like a pasta sauce. The salsa here is good so maybe it be better if they just used it.
The pablano was ok but greasy and not over the top.
Overall the food was boring to me, and simple.
I will have to keep searching for what this visit was missing, which is flavor and creativity.

This is the best iguana’s I have ever been to. The service is great and the food is awesome! This is spot to watch the games too. Brand new high def and and they turn the music down so u can hear the announcers.

The décor is fine, and it’s new, so the service is energetic and attentive. But the food is disappointing. I had an enchilada, with queso. The meat was so-​so, but it was wrapped in an oversized flour tortilla that was too dry, bordering on stale. Maybe they should borrow a page from those «fast Mexican» places (Moes, Qdoba) and steam the tortilla; it would be an improvement. The queso was too thin to be called cheese, and too thick to be a sauce. Not a good dish. My wife ordered the tortilla soup. The chicken was chewy, and the broth was just too salty.
The prices are higher than your typical neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The décor was clearly aiming for a slightly more upscale experience than the typical neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The food was clearly not part of the formula.
Skip this place. Your restaurant dollars have better things to do.

The restaurant is very classy! The service was good, but the chips get smoked by El Nopal!
Fajita Nachos were just ok.

Goodbye Calistogo, welcome good mexican food to St Matthews. No longer are we stuck with just El Nopal, Moe’s, or Q in this part of town. We now have a choice and choice is good. We went in for some of their drink specials and to catch MNF. Really can’t beat it. Free chips and salsa, great drink specials, a few nice big tvs for a game. The margaritas were very strong but very good. We ended up trying the guacamole trio. The only one I didn’t care for was the chipolte flavor, the others were pretty good. I am sure the food is similar to the other locations, so there should be no issues there. Place looks great, basically just a cosmetic facelift from the previous setup of Calistoga. I was sad to see it very empty, but the location is a hard draw after work hours. Sure the location is super busy til 6pm with hospital and just random businesses, but after 6 I am guessing it is a bit different. Take it from… oh no I forgot their name… wait I got it Ernestos, then Tilted Kilt. That general area is hard to survive in without a loyal following. They have to drum up some business like Texas Roadhouse, early dinner specials, late happy hour etc. Once people get use to making it a go to for mexican food in the area they are set.

Excellent experience! Friendly, attentive wait staff. Had margaritas, guacamole trio, fish tacos, and Carne asada burrito all in under 40 minutes! Don’t be fooled by the short time span, we had plenty of time to enjoy our drinks and appetizer before the main course. Our waiter, Fernando, was wonderful! Can’t wait to go back!

Our first time here. We came on a whim and so glad we did. We ordered the chorizo queso appetizer and then from the lunch menu, I got the street tacos (two chorizo and two ground sirloin) and Kathy got the carne asada burrito. Everything tasted wonderful. There’s nothing we tried that we wouldn’t get again, although I’d like to try other items on the menu, too.
