Oh my gosh the brownies are the best I’ve had from a store! Super gooey and very tasty. Crumbles of toffee on top with a drizzling of chocolate is to die for! Totally going back!
Also the outside wall is painted amazingly! You should stop by to take a photo in front of and then grab some sweets while you’re at it.

I’ve had Scarlet’s bookmarked since I saw highlights from their Grand Opening on Unilocal a few months ago. I decided to take a group of kiddos for cinnamon rolls before the Buy Local Fair this morning.
It was easy to find — but be warned, Sojourn is right across the street; so parking on a Sunday was tricky. I had to circle a few blocks before I found a spot for our 15 passenger van a block away.
We arrived around 10:30 — perfect timing, as we’d missed the before church rush and the current service had not yet let out yet. The bakery was quiet; but still very full of spirit & positive energy.
We were immediately greeted with smiles by 3 ladies behind the counter. They took drink orders and started heating up our 10 cinnamon rolls! 10 rolls & an assortment of black coffees, hot chocolates, milks & an iced tea came to a little over $ 60. Not bad for feeding 10 people!
The rolls were HUGE and absolutely smothered in icing and yummy goodness.
The outdoor seating was great; the food was yummy and the staff could not have been nicer. It was the perfect place for a laid back Sunday morning! I’ll definitely be back!

I read the reviews on Unilocal!and Google. Still didn’t know what to expect but decided I wanted to explore just because I love their mission. Okay, so I went for the coffee and experience because I am gluten free and knew I would pass on the baked goods.
Yes, they do espresso drinks with their own blend of beans (made for Scarlet’s by The Good Folks local roaster). Scarlet’s has only regular beans (no decaf) but they do offer non-​dairy options. My sister and I both had lattes with almond milk. They were the very best almond milk lattes we have ever, ever had! We recommend that you get them in a mug. They don’t add as much milk in these, but the flavor, oh my! There is no burnt almond aftertaste. Perfectly foamed and the coffee is smooth.
The white décor is so inviting and light in this old structure. All the baked goods scream quality. BTW: Their macaroons are gluten free and consist of unique flavors. There are a few tables and a bar with stools that overlooks the historic-​area street/​buildings. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I will definitely return because of the quality and because of their mission. Something I really want to support even if I usually have decaf espresso.

I recently visited Scarlet’s Bakery for the first time, and I was seriously impressed. I had heard great things, and it looked great online, so I wasn’t shocked; I was just impressed even though I already had high expectations. So, needless to say I’m now a major fan of Scarlet’s.
The space is super cute and easy to find, with plenty of street parking. The interior is very clean with plenty of seating. There’s a walk-​up counter with a glass case displaying all of the delectable bakery items. They also serve sandwiches, chips, and drinks; however, as we had just ate that day we were only there for dessert.
The menu changes, from what I understand monthly, so it’s a great place to hit up again and again. During our trip we opted for a Cinnamon Roll with Cream Cheese Frosting and a Bourbon Ball Macaron. Both were seriously amazing. As in, I’ve been thinking about them ever since. As in, I would go to Scarlet’s right now and gladly order another of either of those items (or both of those items) and after devouring them I would be happy for the rest of the day.
I definitely have plans to go back to Scarlet’s Bakery again in the near future. And then again and again and again after that. I highly recommend that you check it out, and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Fantastic Bakery! Best in Louisville! Great coffee, atmosphere and of course fantastic bake goods! Most certainly worth the drive to support such a great organization!

What a beautiful business model and beautiful business! So I believe this bakery was started to help women struggling with getting a legitimate job. And let me tell you, it is LEGIT! They have the absolute BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES in the city! Yup. I said it. I believe it! Thank goodness my daughter and I came later in the morning/​early afternoon or I would have bought one of EVERYTHING! As it was, we bought the chocolate chip cookies, raspberry thumbprint cookies, a red velvet cupcake, a blueberry muffin and a blondie. oh my goodness! All were amazing! Look at their hours though because I have been down twice forgetting that they are closed Monday and Tuesday and I was soooo saadddd! The people working there are super kind and ready to help. They keep the place looking shiny and welcoming. Highly recommend!

I really like this place! An absolutely wonderful addition to the Shelby Park area!
I stopped in on this rainy morning just hoping for a hot cup of coffee. You can certainly get that here. Not the best, not the worst. Very well priced.
It is absolutely adorable inside, with recently added outdoor seating (for non-​rainy days…) Crisp and bright!
I ordered the cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing to eat in. They heated it up for me and good lord! It was delectable! Highly recommended to treat your sweet tooth!
I also got some of the donut bites to bring home. Surprise! They were on special today, so instead of 6 for $ 2.75, I got 12 for $ 2.50. Like whaaaat!!! I got a selection of all three varieties: vanilla (my favorite), chocolate, and cinnamon and sugar (my sister’s favorite). I expected them to be more like donut holes… denser and heavier. But these are light and fluffy! Like little edible clouds! (Ok, so I was reeeeally hungry when I ate them, so I might be waxing a *little* bit excessively poetic… still…YUMMY!)
The shop is sided with one of the lovely murals that have been popping up in Shelby Park. It was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day! And the staff were friendly and nice.
All that said… give me wifi, and I’ll give you one more star!

Probably a good thing I don’t live very close to Oak Street! I would be a regular. My family will be surprised to see me praise a cinnamon roll because I’m not a cinnamon roll fan, but now I have tasted Scarlet’s cinnamon roll. Game changer. Perfect soft texture. Just the right amount of cinnamon. And that icing! Creamy cream cheese with a hint of something wonderful. I actually ordered the cinnamon roll for my husband so now I’ll tell you about my Bacon cheese and chive muffin. So good and beautiful presentation. This place excels in presentation. The baked goods are flawless and the white décor is clean and bright. The staff’s red and black uniforms look great. Who knew grabbing a pastry could be such a great experience!

Try the cinnamon rolls and any of the savory pasteries. We grabbed them to go along with coffee on our way to do some sight seeing on the bourbon trail. A must stop if you’re in Louisville.

I took my daughter to Scarlett’s bakery over the Christmas holiday. She was so excited she wanted to give and bless this ministry with her own earned allowance money. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and felt very welcome. The ambience is stunning. We had a very delicious cinnamon roll and peanut butter bar both which were very very tasty. We also took two dozen to go of cookies to our family holiday event. Everyone loved the cookies but loved the story and mission behind the bakery even more. Also the side of the building is painted and some groovy cool colors and I got some great photos of my daughter I was so proud of her giving her allowance money to support such a great mission. We definitely will be returning and supporting Scarlett’s bakery!

Update: tried the cinnamon roll. Was AMAZING!!! My friends thought they were a little too doughy, but I actually enjoyed the doughy texture. ⁵⁄₅ would recommend. Perhaps, it was a tad bit too sweet for me, and a little flat (I like massive Cinnabons), but those are minor criticisms.

I heard about Scarlet’s Bakery through my Church because they are associated with Scarlet Hope which is an organization in town that helps women in the sex trafficking industry. That in itself makes this place amazing since each time you buy something you are helping to end the war on sex trafficking!
Now lets talk about the food and the bakery itself.
First, the design is slick and modern. The entire lounge area is white except for the workers behind the counters that are wearing bright red aprons. My wife and I were super impressed with the presentation.
Second, lets talk about their selection. Its like they knew everything that my wife and I want in a baked item. They didn’t just have cinnamon rolls they had cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frostings that were super light and almost a teensy bit doughy still. They had bacon and chive muffins, fresh baked doughnut holes in 3 different flavors, glutten free options, cheddar and jalapeño stuffed pretzels, and much much more!
I got the cream cheese cinnamon roll and it was huge, I only ate half of it and it was only 4 bucks! And let me tell you it was one of the gooiest, most deliciously delectable sweet treats I have ever eaten. My wife ordered the white chocolate raspberry muffin which was super moist and wonderful!
Finally, it is in a great location. It is right across the street from Sojourn Mid-​Town and only a block away from Immanuel Baptist Church.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes baked goods! It will blow your mind and you know you are spending your money for an organization that is helping women out of sexual slavery.

Gracious! If I still lived in this neighborhood, I’d be at Scarlet’s before & after work as well as every weekend. Their baked goods are so memorable that I had to have a red velvet cupcake twice in a week. So much for my New Year’s promises to myself.
Scarlet’s is not only a phenomenal bakery, but they have a tremendous mission (Google them & check out the recent press). The bright, open, and welcoming storefront draws you in and up to a counter of wonders. On my first visit (which was 30 min before closing), I stared in awe for at least five minutes. They had plenty of product and everything looked amazing!
I took home a pair of the red velvet cupcakes and a couple of the cherry nut cookies. The cupcakes were securely packaged in lovely, individual boxes. Perfect for gifting (or making your family feel special on a week night). I’ll admit it — I’m a red velvet snob. These cakes were so light and tender, the icing was rich and creamy. I was in heaven. May be the best red velvet cake I’ve had in Louisville.
The nut cookies were tasty little morsels. And the peanut butter brownie that my mom tried this week was declared to be decadently good. Next time, I’ll be ordering the much lauded cinnamon roll and a pretzel. A cupcake will have to come home too, that’s a given. Scarlet’s is a gem in Shelby Park/​Germantown area. Go as soon as possible!

What a great bakery! You walk into the store, and everything is so bright and clean it just sets off a spark of happines!
It was so hard to not get one of everything, because it all looked wonderful! My mom and I ended up settling on a salted chocolate chip cookie, blueberry streusel muffin, cherry pecan thumbprint cookies, a red velvet cupcake, and I got a coffee to go. Everything was fabulous, and their coffee (which I forgot to ask about) was delicious, it wasn’t bitter at all. The ladies working were super friendly and answered all of our questions.
This location is right by Sojourn Church’s Midtown campus, which I bet brings in a lot of business on Sundays! I know I would be there every week if I went to that campus on Sunday mornings!
This would also be a great place to hang out and study or write a paper. They have tables and bars along the big windows of their storefront. It’s so bright, white, and clean cut in there that it just boosts your desire to be creative and/​or productive!

Scarlet’s Bakery has a welcoming vibe that beckons you from the cold streets into it’s kind interior with a warm cinnamon-​y embrace!
Speaking of cinnamon, I absolutely devoured their cinnamon roll with cream cheese glaze. I seriously could not eat it fast enough. They have such a varied selection that I hope to be back very frequently to try a new treat!

I have to start by saying that this bakery is a great addition to the Shelby Park neighborhood. Yay!
I am also so moved that the entire premise of this bakery is based on helping women who have previously been abused or exploited. Scarlet’s Bakery hires, trains and gives them the opportunity to experience meaningful work in such a delicious setting. Points for being an awesome member of the community.

The cinnamon roll! OMG! SO GOOD! (all caps is necessary). Get there early because everyone wants one and you do not want to share with your mate (like I had to on my first visit). Ha! We also tried both varieties of the donuts holes: powdered sugar and sugar/​cinnamon. Both were delightful and definitely tasted fresh. So fluffy and unlike most donut holes.
The atmosphere inside the bakery is wonderful. Lots of clean white treatment around with few splashes of color here and there. I like it. Simple and clean. I look forward to them being around for a long time. I hear they may have lunch options available soon. Fingers crossed.
Go here. Soon. Buy lots of sweets because I have to assume that they are all delicious. And… you are supporting such a great business structure. :)

From the photos the shop may seem pristine and untouchable (like the living room meant only for guests), but it is coooozy! Intimate seating, lovely layout. Construction is going on right now; so, it is difficult to order and chat without leaning in. However, isn’t leaning in what we need to do nowadays? I may have forgotten my wallet this time, but, as Arnold once said, «I’ll be bock.»

But there’s a lot more to it. Scarlet’s Bakery is designed not just to make Louisville fatter. It’s a social enterprise that hires and trains women who were previously exploited or abused. So you’re eating sweets for a heck of a cause.
They also have beautifully renovated a century-​old building in the heart of a Shelby Park community that desperately needs more vibrant businesses like this one. The space is gorgeous, as is the Gibbs Rounsavall mural on the outside.
I heard a rumor that they may eventually offer salads and sandwiches. In the meantime, I can’t wait to try their rolls.

An absolutely lovely bakery nestled in Shelby park that offers savory and sweet treats! Their catering options for events are super affordable. The staff was super professional and looked awesome in their red and black. The Moroccan sugar bites paired with the peppermint tea is to die for!
