Sam Swope Collision Center

I took my wife’s car to this repair shop, and was told that it would take 3 – 5 business days to fix. I dropped it off on Sunday night, using their key drop box, as they said I could do. On Monday morning, I got a call saying they couldn’t locate the repair estimate in their system, and also that they needed some paperwork signed. Then, I heard nothing at all. I called on Friday morning (5 business days later) and asked the status, and was first put on hold for several minutes, and when I called back, I was told to leave a voicemail, and someone would return my call. Then, finally, after I called back 3 more times during the afternoon, at 4:30pm, I was told the car was ready. This was a very frustrating experience from a service perspective, as I needed to get my car either Friday evening or Saturday morning, and with no response from this company, it was very difficult to plan how to get a ride to the shop, and when. I haven’t seen the body work yet, but hopefully, when I get the car tomorrow, it will be ok.

I took my 1995 BMW Club Sport to Swope to repair some minor damage. The shop had their BMW trained techs perform the work and the result was a first rate job. The car looks like it had never been damaged– no matter how hard you look.

After being in an auto accident I incorrectly assumed that taking my vehicle to Sam Swope, the largest name in the city, and having purchased my vehicle from the same place, that I would be treated to a wonderful customer experience and have no less than the best work done to my vehicle. My accident happened on February 15, the day before a very large snow storm passed through the city. We had our vehicle towed to Sam Swope Collision Center and because it was a Sunday, we knew that it would not be looked at until the next business day. SSCC was closed the next couple of days for business due to the inclement weather, so I placed a phone call to them on Thursday to see if an estimate had been made for my car. They informed me that no one had looked at my car yet, but the initial estimate for work looked to be 6 – 8 days and about $ 4,100. Although that was the case, I was told that if there were any further repairs to be done to the vehicle, that I would be notified. 8 business days later, I called to see what the status was on my repair. I was told that they would have to check with the technician and that they would call me back. I received no phone call that day, nor did I receive a call the next day. I did, however, receive a call from the car rental company that they were informed by my insurance that the insurance company would no longer be paying for my rental car. So after chasing down the reason why they said this, I found out that it was because the insurance company called the repair shop to check the status of the repair, and the repair shop informed insurance that they no longer had the vehicle. This was OBVIOUSLY not accurate, because if I didn’t have my car back, then where would it have been but the repair shop? It was determined by the contact at the repair shop that insurance «must have called the wrong location.» In my opinion, it would be wise to know which vehicles Sam Swope has in their possession at any location to eliminate customers from being cut off from their insurance policy. While on the phone with insurance to try and have my rental coverage extended, I mentioned that I was a little concerned that I hadn’t heard from the repair shop that my vehicle was finished, and I was a little concerned because they said they would call me if there were any other damages that they couldn’t see externally. He then proceeded to tell me that there were obviously additional repairs needed because from what he could see the initial estimate was $ 4,100 and it was now $ 8,900 and that the estimated completion date was now the NEXT Friday. So not only was my car already 3 days over the initial estimated completion date, but the estimate more than doubled, and now I would have to wait another 8 business days for it to be completed. At this point I was livid, but still being as patient as I possibly could be. Since there was nothing I could do, I waited until the next Thursday, the day before they said my car would be ready, and I called the repair shop to make sure my car was going to be ready the next day. They then proceeded to tell me that there were some mechanical issues with the vehicle and that it was going to be the beginning to middle of the next week. The day that I called was two days before it would have been an entire month after my accident occurred. Frustrated again, I was patient as there was nothing I could do to hurry the work up. On Monday of the next week, I called and mentioned that I needed an update on my vehicle and wanted to be sure it was still on track to be completed within the next 3 days. I was then told that it wouldn’t be until the end of the week that it would be ready. I finally mentioned that I was quite irritated at the fact that this was the fourth time they had pushed the date back, and that I was disappointed at the lack of communication and that I had called every single time to get an updated instead of them calling me. The woman on the phone apologized and let me know that she would have someone call me to explain what was taking so long. I received a call the same day and was told what was wrong, and that it looked like it would be Wednesday that it would be completed. I was as satisfied as a I could have been with that, and the guy told me he would call me tomorrow (Tuesday) to update me and let me know even if it wasn’t going to be Wednesday. On Tuesday, he failed to call me and called my husband instead, probably because he knew I wouldn’t be too happy with the fact that he was calling to tell us that it in fact would NOT be Wednesday, and instead would MAYBE be Friday. On Friday (today, March 20) I called and left a message at 1:31 asking for the status of my car, and I have not received a call back. Although the repairs are being made, and SSCC is already going to receive the money for the job, I will NEVER bring my business to them as long as I have a vehicle and will tell everyone I know to never use their repair shop.

I first went to a competitor, arrived at 5:22pm, a young woman somewhat reluctantly came out of an office to find out what I needed. I told here I needed an estimate to repair my car. She immediately informed me that they close at 5:30. I looked at the clock on the wall which accurately displayed the time as 5:25, so I didn’t say a word. She then told me that everyone was getting ready to leave and that I would need to make an appointment to come back and get an estimate.
I was of course very shocked that they wouldn’t just write an estimate on the spot since they were still open and they are in the auto body repair business. And I still would have been understanding if she just hadn’t seemed so very pleased with the fact that she didn’t have to care about what some stupid customer thinks because she was IN CHARGE.
Okay, no big deal, I just turned and left without saying a word. Got in my car, drove less than a half mile to Sam Swope Collision Center. Here a pleasant young man (Matt) politely explained that they stop doing estimates at 5pm, apologized because he couldn’t take care of it right then, and encouraged me to return anytime the next day and he would be happy to help me. I did come back the next day and was again treated with respect and genuine caring.
Fair or not, I doubt I will ever spend a dime at any Bachman automotive business and will go out of my way to do business with Sam Swope auto group based on their superior customer service skills and accommodating attitude.

Let me start by stating that it took over 2 months to have a minor collision to one front corner panel that set off the airbags to be fixed. We were told it would be another week 6 weeks after we had dropped it off. We were going to be out of town and notified them we would be back after we returned to get the car. When we arrived 4 days after the car was initially scheduled to be done, the car was not done, and we were told it would be done in couple days. We then showed up to pick up the car on the day and time specified only to find out it would be another 3 hours. We then showed up 3 hours later, to then have to wait another hour before it was done!
We received the car only to find that they had replaced our steering wheel with a different model than the original factory equipment, and our air conditioning and heating no longer worked.
When I returned to have these problems fixed, I asked if they would balance and mount my summer tires for free for all the trouble they put me through, which they did. When I got the car back I found that they had mounted my front rims on the back of my car and the back rims on the front of the car, in addition to returning my car with dust covered driver seat, floor mats, and driver door.
I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but there were too many problems that occurred in too few visits. Considering they are the collision center recommended by the BMW dealership of the same owners I would expect the same high quality of work. They were friendly and helpful throughout the process, but there were too many delays and problems to give a good review.

Recently needed to get my car repaired. I have a leased vehicle so I wanted to take my car into a dealership affiliated collision center. I took it into Sam Swope collision center to get it repaired. They were very accommodating with my schedule and was able to get the car back to me in a very timely manner. When they returned the car to me, i didn’t notice any blemishes myself, but the manager told me they weren’t satisfied with their work and wanted to touch up a couple of areas. I was surprised with how upfront they were about it and very much appreciated it. I would definitely recommend them if you are in the unfortunate situation of needing a collision center.
