I think we have found our new favorite Chinese Restaurant. We decided to try it as we have never eaten here. I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster sauce lunch special, came with Egg Roll, Fried Rice and Hot and Sour Soup. My wife got Chicken and Vegetables lunch special. Our food came very quickly and was fresh, hot and delicious. Our server was very good and made sure our drinks were refilled as needed. When we paid our bill we mentioned how much we enjoyed the food and wanted to return. We were told next time in ask for the special«secret menu». Supposed to have the«real authentic» stuff on it. So now we can’t wait to return and see what’s on it. If you like Chinese food, you’ll love this place.

Very good service and a lot of food for the money! We went for lunch and were able to take advantage of the lunch special– an egg roll or spring roll, soup, and an entrée served with rice. While it’s not taking the place of my favorite Chinese restaurant, I definitely think it’s worth checking out.

Definitely worth trying and, in my opinion, worth going back many more times. This is one of those places you might accidentally overlook while driving down Shelbyville Road. It’s a smaller restaurant, but the food is great. The regular menu has a lot of the stuff you’d get from any place that serves westernized Chinese food like General Tso’s and crab rangoons, but they also have a second menu with dishes like salt and pepper squid, tea-smoked duckling, and curry chicken skewers. So if you feel like trying something new, but the rest of the people in your party are not, there’s a good mix of safe and adventurous offerings here, and just about everything I’ve gotten from the second menu I’ve enjoyed tremendously.

I went with a group of about 10 people because the owner of my wife’s company was in town and took the administration out to dinner. In short, the service was terrible. Our waiter kept forgetting what we ordered, and kept going to the kitchen and coming back to double-check with us. I drank one glass of water in about 2 hours and was never even offered a refill. The waiter spilled some sauce from one of the soups that we ordered, and it went on my lap. He never even really apologized or checked up on me. When one of the waitresses was asked by my wife’s boss about getting another drink, she acted put-out. It took ages to get the food, which was very good, but the service was such a catastrophe that we will never ever come back. This is sad because my wife and I enjoyed the food and atmosphere quite a bit when we went on our own, and placed carry out orders from time to time. We simply wanted to share this place with members of my wife’s company. PCB is also close to our house. All in all, this was supremely disappointing and I doubt that we will ever return.

Yes, you should eat here. I’m visiting the area and was tempted by the pic of beef noodle soup here on Unilocal. It was _amazing_its so flavorful and spicy! I literally cried my way through the last of it, eyes so watery I could barely see my spoon, ha-ha!

Delicious food. Friendly staff. More than enough food at a great price. Get the chicken lettuce wraps. Just do it. They’re amazing!

I’m not a fan of takeout Chinese food, that being said, I’ve NEVER been disappointed by this place! I’ve eaten here numerous times, both in the dining room and for takeout, the service and the food are always great, no matter what dish I try or when I come. I’d recommend the crispy beef or prawns with orange peel and a scallion pancake. I’d also say to go on «off hours» because the dining room is full during typical dinner hours. The atmosphere is a bit upscale and while I wouldn’t go out of my way to dress up to come, I wouldn’t wear a tshirt.

First stop here on my search of great Chinese in Louisville wish I could say I found it. Hot & Sour soup had really good flavor but had little of substance other than broth. Spicy pork was good lots of crisp veggies & tender pork in a nice sauce but not remarkable. Hot tea was good service was friendly & quick.

Peking City is a gradual love for me. I come to appreciate it more after each visit. The staff is friendly and the setting is nice enough to bring a date. The food portion is large at a reasonable price. You’ll let lots of great dishes not found in your other Chinese restaurants. Ask for the authentic Chinese menu for a variety of exotic options. I love the calamari for appetizer, it comes with lots of onion, peppers and a side of delicious tangy sauce. For a cold day choose from a variety of hot soups such as the large and popular beef noodle or the many hot pots. For the adventurous why not try the pig intestine. If you’re a traditional kind of person, orange chicken and gung bo chicken will satisfy your taste buds.

My wife is very finicky about Chinese food and I had read the reviews on Peking City Bistro. We walked in an hour before closing and had some of the best Chinese food we’ve had in a long time. My wife eats vegetarian and the vegetarian steamed dumplings were out of this world. My Szechuan chicken had just the right amount of kick to it, Needless to say we’re glad that we dropped in there and plan on becoming regulars.

Good Chinese food is difficult to find. If you are reading this, then you have found it. Peking City Bistro is one of the best I have had in a very long time. I drive from Lexington to Louisville, just to eat here. It is worth it. My only problem is, every time I try anything on the menu, I don’t want to try anything else. That becomes my new favorite until I force myself to try something new. I have not had a bad meal here. The service is exactly what you expect from a restaurant with this quality of food … excellent. Don’t let the modest strip mall front scare you off … you are at the right place. Go inside. You will not be disappointed.

I love this little gem. They have the best egg rolls. The spicy mustard is on point. I always make sure to order two because one just leaves me wanting more. The steamed dumplings also are very good. I did get the orange chicken once and found it too sweet for my taste but others in my party loved it. The vegetarian menu is wonderful. I love the mushrooms and pea pods best for a meal.

I have been to this restaurant more than once and evidently the service is spotty. Tonight was awful. one entrée came out before the others. The 2nd came out about 10 minutes after the first. then 3&4 came out about 15 minutes later. The person who got the first entrée was completely finished by the time three and four came out. Drinks were not refilled. There was no checking back in to see if everything was okay. Extremely disappointed. Will have second thoughts about ever going back. I had the orange chicken. It was described as lightly battered. It was heavily battered and would not order again.

All told, I’ve been to Peking City Bistro more than 30 times. What keeps me coming back? The food is great and I’ve yet to have a bad meal there. The American-Chinese menu is rather dull, so I suggest grabbing one of the thicker, authentic Chinese menus from the shelf by the register. Or, you know, ask for one. The service is usually good, but one waitress(who’s been there since they opened) has been known to leave our water cups empty for most of the meal. The rest of the staff is very gracious and quick to assist in any way needed. But, to be fair, I’ve been there so often, I feel comfortable grabbing straws, booster seats, or silverware rolls if they’re forgotten, so maybe the service can be a little rougher than you’d expect at the price point. The food itself is great. Even the dull American fare really pops – the general Tsos in particular is truly spectacular. But when you look around the restaurant, you’ll notice most of the Chinese families present are ordering from the family-style Chinese menu. Do give it a try, if you’re feeling bold. Pork intestines are better than they sound on paper, I promise. As another Unilocaler mentioned, the hot and sour soup is certainly the best I’ve ever had at a Chinese restaurant, so order the double-sized bowl. You won’t regret it!

So disappointed to have to write a bad review for one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The poor review is for the service only; the food was awesome as always! I will give them a break because it was Christmas Eve and they were busy, but delivering meals 10 – 15 minutes apart is pretty inexcusable for any decent establishment, especially when there were only three of us. By the time my meal came out, my wife and daughter were all but finished eating. I also had one beer and never a chance for a refill beyond that… they were busy, but I’ve seen them just as busy and service wasn’t a problem.

We were coming to Louisville for a wedding and stopped here for dinner on the recommendation of my brother in law. We all agreed this is one of the best Chinese food we had ever eaten. My wife had the Szechwan pork, our daughter on law had Moo Go Gai Pan, our son had Mu Shu Pork, and I had one of the best Chinese dishes I have ever had(5 Flavor Fish) was to die for! We shared the steamed dumplings as an appetizer which did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back on our next visit to Louisville.

I’ve only been here once, even though I have heard so many things about it, and that was for lunch. But, that one time left a great impression that I intend to see if it can be reinforced with further visits. So far, the twice-cooked pork(there known as Double Cooked Pork) is spot-on what it should be, and the five-flavor fish is an absolute treat. I cannot wait to go back for dinner and try their authentic menu so I can update this review further. Oh…service was pretty snappy, and the place appeared spotless.

After hearing some great reviews and the urgings of a fellow Unilocaler, I returned to Peking City, armed with renewed hope and expectations. I was rewarded with perfectly cooked Taiwanese dishes this time! I must have just ordered the wrong things the last time I was here. My cousin and I ordered from the Chinese menu; Fried little fish: 3−4in long whole sardines(with heads and bones) coated with a light batter and deep fried, then stir fried with green onion, hot peppers and salt… they are also full of roe… so crunchy and yummy! Braised brisket: super tender, soft brisket braised in a soy and star anise based sauce that is also slightly spicy. Braised pork belly: pork belly with layers of tender skin, fat and meat, so soft and melt-in-your-mouth slippery. Oh, so wrong oh so good and I dont give a damn! This comes on a bed of Shanghai Bok Choy to cut down on the guilt… just a little bit. My cousin and I are both seasoned Chinese food eaters and we could not stop raving about the food. Cousin is so happy I brought her here. We will definitely be back for more. One more thing: Peking City Bistro is one of the few ethnic restaurants that can actually be praised on its décor. It is modern Asian: minimalist with personality. I’ll even say it is more intimate than most other Asian restaurants.
