I am looking for a new salon and reading all reviews. My concern with your salon is cutting hair too short and when customers are very disappointed with results not one time is any compensation offered

I’m one of those people who get super nervous about haircuts and put them off as long as possible. So when I finally decided it was time to cut my long hair and switch to bangs I looked at some reviews and chose Neatbeat! I loved it, it was a great experience, and I’ll definitely go back.
I love their hours, they work great for those of us who work until 5. I called on a Tuesday and they were able to fit me in on Thursday of the same week!
Tara was my stylist and she was awesome! She made me feel relaxed and confident she would take good care of my hair. We started off the appointment by talking about my typical hair routine and how I wanted my hair cut. She was very sweet throughout the whole appointment and she did a wonderful job!
It’s pretty neat how they make it a whole experience between the neck massage, welcome survey and just the overall feel of their location.
Overall, I love my hair cut, and I’ll definitely be going back!

I can not believe how bad my hair looks right now, it looks worse than when I went in and it cost me $ 150 WTF for hi lite and cut! Stay clear if you like your hair I would never recommend this place or go back! Can not get over how bad my hair looks I cried the entire way home!

The staff is wonderful and so sweet! They always do a great job and go out of their way to make it an amazing experience. I have come quite a few times for cuts, and ombré. Also have had family go, who love it as well!

I recently followed my stylist, Maya (She’s amazing, you should book an appointment with her) to this salon and I absolutely love it! Neatbeat is wonderful. I love the very calm atmosphere, as well as the chic and simple décor. I felt relaxed the moment I walked in, and the neck and hand massages definitely helped! All of the other employees were super sweet and friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

It really bums me out to be leaving a negative review because everyone is really nice and talented but they. do. not. listen. I have been to this salon three times, each time my hair was cut by a different person, and the first time I asked for a layer that hit at my lips on top of what I already had, but she cut one much lower and I had to sit in the chair for probably an extra twenty minutes telling her to go shorter and shorter until she did what I asked. I thought, no worries, I still got what I wanted. The second time I went in for a cut and color. I wanted an auburn ombré and left as a blonde. I asked for bardot type curtain bangs and brought a photo and left with blunt straight-​across bangs. I thought maybe this was me not being clear enough, but I looked awful and nothing like the picture I brought in. I would give them one more chance. Last time I was there I asked for side bangs to help remedy my grown out blunt bangs, and that was done perfectly. However, I also asked for all over layers and I walked out with two distinct, choppy, unblended layers and I couldn’t tell at the time because she had curled my hair. I don’t know if that is some new edgy technique but it looks ridiculous unless I curl my hair, which I never do. I do not think I’ll be returning, but their place is very cute, and everyone is friendly. My advice is to be crystal clear and have them repeat everything back to you and ask them to show you a picture of what you are saying so you know they’re on the same wavelength.

I went here last Friday for my first appointment, a brow wax. I’ve had my brows waxed minimally in the last decade because every time I go somewhere either the person doing it is too rough, or they make them wonky (I know brows are supposed to be sisters not twins, but mine always ended up looking like third cousins), or too thin, or whatever. I had a wedding to go to on Friday and with as much as I’ve been working I haven’t been keeping on top of my brows as I should so they kind of got a bit… wild.
I arrived early and was greeted, offered a beverage which was nice and was impressed by the cleanliness and the privacy of the salon. I really like when a salon offers a partition break from the waiting area and where you get your hair done. You can see back there but really there is a divide between where you wait and where you go for services, I liked that.
Tara did my service, she was running late and that was the ONLY reason I gave a less than 4 stars here. I don’t want that to make that sound like it was a huge negative because the first thing she said after introducing herself was to apologize profusely for being late. No excuses were made (omg I got stuck in traffic, or I had a flat tire), she just said she was running late and she was really sorry I had to wait. I think I was maybe 10 or 15 minutes over my scheduled appointment time and I got there early.
Tara was VERY bubbly and friendly without being overly so. She wasn’t prying but we were able to have a very nice conversation about what brought me in (first time customer), why I was getting my services, what I did for a living, the basics without it seeming forced or contrived. She seemed genuinely interested in what I was saying. We went back to the area and she asked me what I wanted from my brows, used a pencil to show me kind of what she had planned on doing and we got down to business. The wax wasn’t too warm and she wasn’t overly aggressive, in all I was very comfortable the entire time. She asked me if I ever filled my brows in with makeup which I don’t typically when I work, but because I was going to a special event that night and it was part of the service I let her do it.
She did an amazing job, the fill in was nice, it wasn’t TOO bold. I like my brows to be more bold rather than thin and she did a great job at balancing them out without making them too thick. The arch was on point, the spacing perfect, and the proportions spot on. My brows were actually sisters, if not fraternal twins for a change.
After service she helped me find some products for my hair as I was out of shampoo/​conditioner and in the market for a new product, giving Aveda’s Black Malva a go to see how I like it and if it keeps my hair black.
Couple constructive things I wanted to note, my receipt didn’t have a break down of services and products, so I wasn’t sure how much to tip her at first, I had to ask the front desk rep how much it was, in the end I just left some cash. I know it’s probably hard to do but it would be nice to see a new receipt system that breaks down the products/​services. In the future though I will probably just ring up service and products on different transactions. This is partially my fault for not asking but while I got a brow fill for free and I’m not familiar with the makeup line they offer, it would have been nice for them to offer to apply concealer around the brows after the service. Again, it’s been a long time since I’ve had my brows waxed and when I left and looked in my car mirror the areas around my brows were very irritated and red, I still had errands to run that day and had to make a quick stop in at Kroger to pick up some concealer. I also noticed that when I went to apply makeup that night there was still a lot of wax left in my brows and around my brow area that I didn’t notice while applying the concealer, especially between the brows and in the brow area itself. Fortunately we had some oils that I could remove the wax with safely without issue, if not that would have been difficult to deal with. Last thing and it’s not something they can help but just something to note, parking was kind of terrible. I went at 1PM on Friday and I had to park SEVERAL businesses away from theirs. I’m not sure if it’s always like that but it’s a VERY crowded little area with a lot of businesses and a fairly cramped lot. I’m sure after hours when some of the businesses are closed and Neatbeat is still open it’s fine, but you are also sharing parking with the restaurant next door. Just a thing to keep in mind.
All in all I was VERY pleased with this experience, for the price I feel the wax was very good, I’ve had MUCH worse at much higher prices so I was very happy with it. I think for the price and the atmosphere it would certainly be a place I would return for maintenance. I also plan to return in the next several weeks for a touch up color and in the upcoming months for a cut.

This place is awesome! I will only go to Aveda salons and I followed the Creator, Heather, from Pure Salon to here. I love it, Alexa and Emily are awesome. Whatever you do, do NOT see Danielle. This salon has very few negative reviews and the negatives ones are about her. She makes you feel very uncomfortable as a customer, like a nuisance to her and is always in a hurry for her personal plans after work. Like the others said, she made rude comments about my hair and my brows. I’m not someone who is easily offended but I was so upset I wanted to walk out before she had even cut my hair. I am a loyal Aveda follower and have never had a bad experience at any of their salons in the last 10 years until I saw her. The salon is awesome and the environment is great, just see a different artist!

I went to this salon a couple of times, and they have late hours, which is amazing. BUT, on my last trip to the salon, I was my stylists last appointment and she rushed through my hair cut. She made side comments about how hard tangled my curly hair was, and rolled her eyes when I told her I don’t frequently brush my hair. My curls are very intense at the bottoms, so I understand the frustration. I was already nervous because I have very long hair, and she was barely paying attention while she cut my hair. She was too busy talking with her friends about their «after work sushi date».
Then, she mentioned to them that she would be late, and basically hinted it was because of me. I felt so awkward and uncomfortable. I haven’t been back since that night. I left the salon feeling awful. She convinced me to cut 5 inches of hair off, so I left the salon shocked at my «short» hair and was basically trying to run out, since I felt like such an inconvenience to her. She seemed so sweet at first. I definitely don’t recommend her now. I’m pretty sure she only smiled once, then entire time I was her client. I’m pretty bummed because this salon is ADORABLE, and has a great atmosphere.
I was planning on donating 10 inches of hair and wanted this salon to do it, but I can’t handle the rude side comments.

I needed to reschedule a hair appointment with my usual hairdresser, but she wasn’t able to get me in for another month after my initial date. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try out Neatbeat, a salon I’d heard so many good things about. Neatbeat was able to get me in quickly and when I needed to update my appointment again to make it even sooner, that wasn’t a problem.
Upon arrival, I was offered a drink and filled in some information on a form, including who my favorite singers were, my hobbies, etc. I thought that was a nice touch: it seemed as if they were interested in getting to know you as a person instead of just your hair.
My appointment was with Meredith and she did a great job on my hair. The color she used matched perfectly what I already have. I also enjoyed the neck and hand massages.
One thing that really stuck out to me was that they booked your next appointment while your color is processing. I really liked that! It’s annoying to try to pay, fumble through your purse and calendar, and book your next appointment at the same time. I’ve never seen this done before and it seems like such a no-​brainer, but I guess it’s typically not!
I was hoping this would be a bit cheaper than my normal appointments, but it was about the same, if not more. I’ve never been charged separately for toner, so I’m not accustomed to that.
Overall, I like Neatbeat and encourage anyone to give it a try, but I will probably stick with my hairdresser and can use this as a fallback.

I have lived in Louisville for almost 2 years and have hopped around from salon to salon. After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Neatbeat a try. I am sooooo glad that I did.
I cannot say enough awesome things about my artist, Alexa. She is exceptional. She listens, cares, and always does a fabulous job. From the neck massage to the haircut, my time at Neatbeat is amazing. I have never been to a salon where the artist cares so much! :)
I would recommend Neatbeat and specifically Alexa to anyone! I really believe that you will not regret it! :)

I see they have many reviews that are good. Unfortunately my wife came home yesterday crying her eyes out because all of her hair was chopped off by a new hair stylist.
She just came in for a trim! Your new employee chopped off a chunk of her hair so she had no choice but to go shorter!
This is horrible she is so sad. They made her pay! They told her they would fix it! She feels like she is a boy! I am not happy myself!
We moved here a over 7 months ago and this is how she is treated.
So Sad that when a new customer comes in you throw them to new employee that is not experienced.

I went here for a simple trim maybe a update but it started out to be just a trim. I have short hair bit long on top so I can part it to go to the right or to the left.
I think her name was Mary that cut my hair she went to short so I said ok I see you went to short so just clean up the bangs and let’s see how that looks. Again she keeps cutting and bam she takes a chunk out of my right side so now it’s too short.
Oh really wtf!!! She her boss comes over the Owner but all she really wants to do is blend it in on the left side. I have no choice my hair is in there hands and she said she would take care of it, what about my color? Again we will take care of it.
Nooooooo I had to pay. I asked for my I brows tinted maybe they will comp that. No not that either. Yes I tipped I’m not a jerk the new girl needs more training but not on a new customers. I did not yell or scream I wanted out of a place that they ruined my hair.
I now only can style it on the left. Really I have a cut I hate!!! I cried all the way home!!!
Take your highlight appointment that your going to charge me and keep it. I’m going to tweet Instagram and rate you all over that you suck!

I find it funny that you would think it’s ok to chop off someone’s hair and say that you would take care of it still charge them. I was crying you saw that! I was not happy! I did not leave there saying oh it’s wonderful thank you for chopping off my hair!

What a gorgeous salon! I had a great time with Danielle. She gives a mean neck and hand massage. She gave me a beautiful braided updo in no time flat and it held up for 3 days! I would totally recommend Danielle and Neatbeat Salon.

What a great salon. Mykia was wonderful, she really listened to me and used a texturing technique that not many stylist use which impressed me. Neck & hand massages were amazing, i was really able to decompress from a stressful day at work.

I typically drive 45 – 60 minutes every 8 weeks to get my hair done at a salon I went to in college because I love the way my hairstylist did my hair. Due to the long drive and limited amout of time I have had lately, I decided to follow the recommendation of my friend to try out NeatBeat. Five minutes into my appointment I was so glad I listened to her.
The hairstylists aka «artists» at NeatBeat are truly focused on pleasing the customer from the time you enter the building till you leave. I was greeted by the receptionist and offered a drink and snacks, (Try the cucumber water… so refreshing) while I waited for my artist, Jenna.
When Jenna was ready for me, she sat me down in the chair and listened to what I wanted to do to my hair and looked at my Pinterest pictures. After she listened to me, she called a couple of other artists over to bounce ideas off of. It was really neat to see how they truly worked as a team. After coming up with a plan for my hair, Jenna gave me a neck massage (AMAZING), then started working on my hair.
After she did the partial highlight, I was taken back to the «Love Shack» to be shampooed. Back in the Love Shack, I was given an eye pillow and hand massage. To top it off, the hand massage occurred at the same time as I was being shampooed. It was so relaxing!!!
After my experience at the Love Shack, I had already decided I was coming backl, this was even before I had seen my hair. After Jenna dried and styled my hair, I was even more in love with NeatBeat. Jenna did such a wonderful job with my hair and making sure I had a good experience. I can’t wait for my next appointment! I will be recommending NeatBeat to everyone I know!

I found my new hair salon yeeyyy… Mikeya did a good job each time she did my hair, she is absolutely wonderful, friendly, and she listen to you how you want your hair done patiently. The staff are friendly too… This is the kind of place you want ladies, you pay for the service and in my opinion it is fair enough to get pampered in return, by making you look and feel beautiful as soon as you get out to this place. It’s a common sense isn’t it? I feel beautiful each time I get out to this place. So ladies you will not be disappointed…

I could write a book about how much I enjoyed my visit here. I did a lot of research before choosing Neatbeat, and chose them because of the glowing reviews online and the convenient location. I have only ever been to cheap chain salons and haven’t walked out completely happy with my cut in, well, years.
The first thing I noticed about Neatbeat was that the outside is friendly and inviting. They have a running list of things they’re thankful for posted outside the front door. I was greeted by a cheery chalkboard sandwich sign, listing the names of the customers who had appointments for that day– «Hello, gorgeous!» And the inside of the salon is adorable. It looks like a Pinterest page come to life. I was offered a drink (I declined) and was asked to fill out a short survey before meeting with my stylist. Not only did it ask for basic contact info and the usual questions, but it also had fun things, like my favorite flavor of coffee and my favorite music artist.
My stylist was Alexa, and she did such an excellent job. She looked at the pictures I had saved (one for my bangs, one for the rest of my hair) and asked lots of questions to be sure she could help me get what I wanted, including what kinds of products I usually use on my hair (shampoo) and what level of styling I’m comfortable with. I then got my «neck treatment» before my hair was even washed. This included the use of the essential oil of my choice and a neck and shoulder massage. It was absolutely lovely, and something I’ve never experienced before. I was then led to the «Love Shack,» a comfortable nook where the hair-​washing takes place. The reclining seats even had footrests! I always think that having my hair washed by someone else is very relaxing, and it’s my favorite part of any haircut. Neatbeat made the experience even better, as I received a «warm eye pillow» and an amazing hand massage once the shampoo and conditioner had been rinsed out. After that, we got to the cutting. Alexa was meticulous and thorough, again, doing everything possible to make sure that I got the cut I wanted. She also offered advice for caring for my new hairstyle at home, including what simple products to use and how to train my part to be further over (a requirement for my desired style.) She explained everything every step of the way, which was really helpful for me, since I’ve never really done anything for my hair other than washing it! All in all, the experience took almost two hours, but I appreciated not being rushed– it was clear that my needs and wants were being put first.
I ran errands after getting my hair done, and I felt such a happy boost in my confidence and self-​esteem, like I’ve never experienced before. All thanks to the ladies at Neatbeat! Weeks later, I am still getting compliments from friends, family, and folks at work, and I don’t hesitate for a second to recommend Neatbeat. When I tell them about my experience, they seem a little envious and express an interest in going, but they are absolutely floored when I tell them how affordable it was (my morning cost $ 29!)
I am now willing my hair to grow faster so I can go back as soon as possible.

Haircuts… Gah. I am such a wanderer when it comes to salons. I’ve gone to cheap ones; I’ve gone to expensive ones. I really loved the haircuts I was getting at the last (pricey) salon I went to a few times. However, my haircuts are pretty simplistic, and I do not dye my hair, so I felt it unnecessary to spend so much money for a little snip-​snip.
So I decided to try something new recently – Neatbeat Hair Salon! I was able to get an appointment only about a week out, though I would recommend booking earlier (just in case). When I arrived, I was greeted by name on a sign outside, a very neat (Punny!) interior, and a friendly staff! I was offered a beverage and filled out a cute little survey during my brief wait for my «artist” – Alexa. (Also, they encourage selfies in their adorable bathroom, but I’ll leave that for you to learn more about.)
When Alexa sat me down to get started, we talked about what I wanted out of my experience and she also pleasantly surprised me when letting me know they start everyone out with a neck massage. Ummm… YES!!! Just what I needed. She then shampooed my hair and even more pampering happened with a hot eye pillow and hand massage! I am obsessed with massages, so at this point I knew it was Neatbeat love for me! I had also scheduled a brow wax, so Alexa did that next after a warning from me about how out of control my brows are. She impressed me with her careful attention to detail; because my brows are crazy, that detail was greatly appreciated and exactly what they needed.
After that, it was time for the cut ($ 29). It was quick, easy, and more inexpensive than the place I had gone a couple times just prior. Plus, it turned out looking fresh and just like I wanted and needed. After cutting, Alexa offered to curl my hair and gave me some (much-​needed) styling tips. Between all of the pampering, I was feeling great as I left. Speaking of that, while this is an Aveda salon with plenty of products available, I really appreciated not feeling pressured to buy products (and that then makes me more willing to buy products if needed in the future, personally). Also, if you check in on Unilocal at Neatbeat, you can get a little free goodie, so make sure to show them your check in before you leave.
I was very impressed with Neatbeat and gladly scheduled my next up appointment before leaving! A couple days after my visit, I received a sweet handwritten note in the mail from Alexa. What a sweet crew! I’m already excited about those neck and hand massages, respectively, during my next visit. ;) And as if Neatbeat couldn’t get better, it is right beside Mussel&burger bar… Haircut and followed by a burger next time? Don’t mind if I do!

I love love this place!!! All of the girls are so helpful and attentive and they bend over backwards to make your visit a special experience every time. I can’t say enough about Terri and how fabulous she is. She takes her time with you and listens to what you are saying. I never feel like she’s rushing me… and she’s got mad coloring skills! :) Best haircut I’ve ever had too!
Beautiful blue and white décor and fresh music! I look forward to my visit for weeks!
