The best«store-front-wok-joint» food I’ve had. And the most authentic Chinese experience too! Not even a hint of a smile, much less a «thank you,» «have a nice day,» or «how are you?» It reminds me of a visit to central China a few years ago — away from the tourist-trained big cities. But even at lunch you get real plates, bowls and tableware, fast service and great value. I’m becoming a regular, whether they pretend I’m their best friend or not!

I’m kicking myself for not having tried this place sooner. I only did today because I’m stuck at work, sick, and I wanted some egg drop soup in the worst of ways. Guess what, they deliver! You can also order online or via their free mobile app.(It’s easy and quick.) The egg drop soup was perfect on my sore throat and my cold, dark soul. It was the perfect consistency, broth thickened by egg, and not gloopy with cornstarch like most other places. I feel halfway normal already. Thank you, Lucky House! I also ordered the General Tso’s lunch combo(extra spicy) with chicken fried rice for $ 1 extra(totally worth it!!!), and it came with an egg roll that was arguably the best egg roll I’ve ever had. It was hot, fresh, and full of deliciousness. Everything was so fresh and prepared perfectly! Not too sweet, not too salty, perfect texture, and the right amount of doneness. This is hands down the best«fast food/strip mall» Chinese restaurant to date that I’ve tried in Louisville. I will most certainly be a regular customer at Lucky House.

Little hidden gem in Louisville. Nothing too crazy, just your local Chinese restaurant doing things the right way. Delicious food and great service!

I was a little nervous to try out Lucky House. I’ve passed it at least once a week for 2 years during my trips into Kroger, but never heard anything about this place and wasn’t able to find any reviews for it online! But since my fiancé was out of town(only risking my own disappointment!), I decided to finally give it a shot. Luckily Lucky House was true to it’s name(har har har). For Chinese takeout, my criteria is limited to 3 points. Location, dumplings, and orange chicken(always the crowd favourite). Lucky House is a 5 minute drive for me, has online ordering, and delivery inside the a limited 3 mile range. The inside is on the smaller side, but is clean and modern. The best part of the meal was definitely the potstickers. Since moving from Chicago I haven’t found any nearby takeout places that make homemade dumplings. While there isn’t anything exactly wrong with the frozen dumplings that most restaurants serve, they are nowhere near as satisfying as homemade dumplings with doughy, chewy skins! For the main course, I ordered orange chicken, the final portion of my grading criteria. The orange chicken from Lucky House was very good. It was not too heavily breaded, had an orange sauce that had a hint of spice and no cloying sweetness like I’ve found from other nearby restaurants. My only complaint is that the menu listed that it was served with broccoli, and there were only several pieces. But then again, most people are concerned with getting orange chicken, not orange broccoli, so this might only be a negative for fellow veggie lovers! Lucky House is just slightly more expensive than other local places. An order of orange chicken with rice and dumplings set me back $ 17. The portions are large but not massive(one order of a main dish can definitely serve two people, for me it can easily be 3 meals). Overall, my order from Lucky House very pleasantly surprised me and it will probably end up being my go-to takeout restaurant.
