Louis’s is a veritable hipster paradise, but without the pretension that generally deters non-hipsters. Qualitatively, the establishment deserves four stars. A woefully anemic food menu, however, relegates my current opinion to just three stars. Purportedly, they intend to install a full kitchen, which would remedy this shortcoming. The bacon-wrapped dates with cookie butter were delicious, albeit a touch overpriced at four for six dollars. Located next to Sergio’s World of Beers, it makes sense that Louis’s would have a couple hundred beers bottled or on tap — and they do. Their cocktail menu was very original, teeming with ingredients I had never heard of. The bartenders were jovial and eager to educate. I wasn’t too keen on the Church Coffee, but the Vintage Ferrari and the Old Fashioned proved exceptional. My review must end here, as I was righteously crunk, rendering me unable to recall and proffer any additional details about my visit.

Love love love this place! Amazing service, great beer selection and a fantastic cocktail list! They have live jazz late night on Friday. Try a butchertown Girl(champagne cocktail) while you’re there!

The Ton just gets better and better. The biergarten is complete, their menu to include small bites, and they regularly have art openings, bands, and events(like trivia night). I’m also a fan of their seasonal cocktails. Although parking can be a challenge, especially given the ramp construction and reconfiguration of Story Ave, it’s totally worth it. Good people, affordable drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere — everything you want from your local pub.

I’ve been to Louis’s the Ton, multiple times the last few weeks and I love it! It’s such a comfortable bar, and the type of place where I’d go on a weekday by myself or with some friends. DRINKS: Craft beer heaven! You’ll find everything from basic ciders to toffee beer! It’s great! Also the cocktails are amazing! I recommend the conquistador and butchertown girl! Or you can get a beer float with ice cream! Something for everyone! FOOD: So there is not a kitchen, but the bar serves free popcorn every night, and always specially flavored. I would seriously come to the bar just for popcorn if I could— so yummy! In addition they have Louisville Cream, the best ice cream I’ve ever had(well, right on par with comfy cow!) You can get an individual scoop or a beer float! ATMOSPHERE: The most comfortable bar you will ever visit. There are multiple comfy couches, chairs, and a lot of space. The décor is kooky, cool, and varied. I’m not sure the pieces completely tie, but it works! Also sometimes the music is a little too loud. I would give Louis’s five stars, but I understand that it’s not the type of bar I would recommend to everyone. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s not my favorite despite all the great aspects. I think because it’s fairly quiet in terms of people there and I like to see more life when I go to the bar.

New favorite bar alert! This place is SUCH a gem. I can see myself dropping in and hanging out at this bar any day of the week. I really enjoy comfy, spacious bars that have lots of places for people to sit and talk. Granted, I’ve only been here on a weekday night, so I don’t know how crazy and crowded it can get on a weekend, but I hate going to bars and not being able to just talk to my friends in a comfortable setting. The huge open space, coffee tables, and sofas make this my ideal bar and hangout space They also have a great beer selection, free(FREE!) popcorn everyday, a charcuterie platter on certain days(Thurs-Sat I believe), Louisville Cream ice cream floats, and will soon be opening a kitchen to serve food. Although this bar is still establishing itself, it’s definitely worth checking out! I haven’t found another bar like it in Louisville, and I’ll absolutely be a regular here.

I went to Louis’s the Ton shortly after it opened, walking down there from Clifton. It was a weekend around 8 or 9 pm, and it had just opened in the past month. The décor was second-hand, worn it but comfy and clean furniture with low lighting and a bar that had this prohibition-style vibe. We asked the bartender for a cocktail menu, and upon seeing a drink called«The Ton» with a shot of bourbon, pickle juice, and PBR, we inquired. Apparently bourbon and pickle juice is a thing called a «pickleback,» and it’s good when you have some beer after! You take the shot of bourbon shortly followed by the pickle juice, and then you nurse your PBR. It was $ 6 — seemed like a good deal even if I just ended up enjoying the shot of bourbon and the 10 oz. PBR. It. was. legit. It reminded me of the tastes of a Memorial Day cookout all melded into a drink, or a series of drinks. Every time I go I get this. For some reason, I’ve gotten it the last several times for $ 3.50. Yes. Really. This place has decent, cheap drinks, and a homey vibe. They’ve also finished their back patio, which has some standing tables in the middle and the perimeter filled with benches, though no tables. I really enjoy this place overall because it can feel like you’re at a coffee shop, but you can also go there on a Friday night and there’s hip-hop music, and eclectic mix of people, and people slinging shots. Plus, all of the bartenders I’ve encountered have been very attentive and willing to answer questions, which I always appreciate.

I like that the artwork and music is regularly changed up but the bar seems a little incomplete. Like its half way through a renovation than never gets completed. A little hard to get to unless you live in the neighborhood and parking is slim. But if you’ve got a group of friends to meet and want to check out some local rotating artwork its a good place to check out. The best part is when the weather is good they have a nice patio out back.

Every time I visit Louisville, I discover a new gem. This time it was Louis the Ton, which was the perfect place to grab a drink on a cold, rainy night. They have a nice selection of specialty cocktails — and, pleasant surprise, they’re under $ 10 a pop. In addition to the cocktail menu, they had a good mix of local and national craft beers on tap. They do not have a kitchen(at least not yet, but rumor has it that’ll be added soon) but if you need a snack, you can order pizzas from a local joint across the street. I was there on a Friday night, and though the place was hopping, plenty of seating was available and it wasn’t too noisy — my group was easily able to carry on a conversation. Great find!

I finally made it Louis’s The Ton yesterday after hearing rumblings for months. I love the openness of the space along with the hip décor, a beautiful bar, and a spacious outdoor patio. The cocktail menu features cute little pictures depicting each cocktail so you know exactly what you’re getting. While they don’t serve food, you can order personal pizzas from across the street, and they currently offer beer floats with ice cream provided by Louisville Cream. My hard root beer float with salted caramel ice cream was delicious!

Checked this place out for the first time last night. Very cool vibe and atmosphere. Reasonably priced cocktails, wide beer list. Try the charcuterie plate definitely. I like places with no tvs. Just music and conversation. Local art hanging on the wall so they promote area talent, and that’s good. Soon to have a beer garden in the back soon(??). Anyways, worth the trip to Butcher town for a laid back drink. And Sergio’s is right next door.

Stumbled across this place on a Monday night. Owner, Emanuel was working bar and made us feel welcomed. The drinks are unique but he also has a full bar and beer selection. This place is great and has a very eclectic crowd which is perfect for me!

Great place. This place gets everything write as far as I am concerned. Not pretentious, no annoying TVs, reasonable prices, open airy atmosphere. This is a place you can relax and talk. If you are put off by seeing a domestic on the menu, used/repurposed furniture or items then you might want to look somewhere else. They have a rotating selection of craft beers on tap. The small ones are $ 3.50 and are perfect for when I am driving and just want to stop in for a bit.

I met friends here on a Friday night after a long work week. We enjoyed unwinding and catching up over some drinks in this comfortably cool spot. It’s definitely shooting for that hipster vibe but in a way that’s understated, not obnoxious. I really liked that there were some small tables and couch areas but a lot of open space, too. That open space helped later when it got really crowded. The bar area is beautiful and I couldn’t stop looking at it while waiting to get a drink. I wish I’d taken a picture! The service was friendly and pretty quick despite how crazy it was in there. I’d definitely go back again.

Love this place!!! Good drinks, great bartenders, casual… Nice place for happy hour after a rough day at work! Only reason they didn’t get five stars is because they only serve the Chartcuterie until 6pm.

Louis’s the Ton is a fantastic destination. It is a combination of great hand selected beers and cocktails, unpretentious attitude, and great value. What really makes this place stand out is the historical swagger it exudes. Cocktails are inspired by the history of the neighborhood and the ambiance is of community. Th cocktails offered are uncomplicated, no froo froo 30 ingredient drinks. They rely on complex liquors and many years of drink knowledge on their staff. This produces cocktails that are memorable for their ingredient complementation and not their over-stimulation. The beer is Fantastic. Starting with their 20oz proper pints. It is the prefect amount for an after work drink, and the prices are great. The draft selection is solid and hand-picked to match the bars attitude, combined with their unique beer tap system they do not waste good beer to foam. Their charcutterie plates are available for happy hour 4−6pm and are great to share. I am conflicted in writing this review. since I know that as it becomes more popular it will be harder for me to get a seat at their copper bar, but i feel that others who love Louisville will appreciate the bravery and uniqueness of this location.

We were really looking forward to trying this place after waiting so long for renovation. I couldn’t wait to get in and try some the charcuterie. Unfortunately, the charcuterie is only available between 4 and 6 pm. How hard is it to slice meat? The atmosphere was fine and so was the one drink we had but where they really failed was in seating. Yes, the couches were so-so but after putting in so much to the bar seats(from the look of it) it was a fail. Stools were uncomfortable. You can’t even reach the foot rest while seated and I’m 6’1! You just dangle on small and hard wooden seats. They are fixed to the floor and don’t even swivel. Made us want to finish our one drink and leave. Fix those bar stools and it would be a major improvement.

I think Louis’s The Ton is still trying to find themselves. I have a feeling with time my rating will go up. But for now the experience was so disjointed I can’t give it more love. After months and months of passing the beautiful job they’ve done with the exterior and reading food blogs, and seeing photos of the bar we were expecting a luxurious feel, something like Meat exuded. But when we walked in, all we saw was empty space and couches that looked like they belonged in a coffee shop. It was off putting. The flow of the bar to the back was great, with a wall blocking off the bar from the toilets and the back seating area. We walked to the back and found church pews and small ice cream shop tables and chairs. Again there was a very large, eerie amount of open space available without seating. I know there is talks of live music nights a few nights a month, but if it’s not that night I don’t see why there should be massive amounts of empty space. We decided on one of the pews to sit at and took a look at the bar. I was taken aback when I saw the bottle and draft beer menu. I know they are next to Sergio and don’t want to compete with them, but an establishment of this level shouldn’t share half of their bottles with a sports bar. An entire row devoted to miller lite, coors, Budweiser… The draft menu was also hard to read in one corner of the bar and I didn’t see any of their other cocktails or wines display. I expected a more sophisticated experience from all the hype. The women’s bathroom was also a bit funny. None of the stalls had lockable doors. One was a western style swinging door and the other was a window curtain on a rod. It felt weird for a bar. You never know what drunk will walk in on you. I felt uncomfortable. It made me feel like they ran out of money after all the major renovations to the old building and were scrounging along at the end trying to finish the place. Putting all the odd stuff aside, we actually had a great time there. All of the employees were extremely helpful and friendly. I never stood at the bar for more than a few seconds before I was helped. When they realized I was overwhelmed with the selection(or the lack there of), they gave me a recommendation that was spot on. There was never too many people around us, even though when we left the bar was packed. The space is large enough to accommodate a larger group, even on a Friday or Saturday night. The space is divided up into different areas, so it never got too loud. Like I said, I think they are going through their learning curve. They have some things to work on. If some of the issues I had were fixed, I think it will be a great spot.
