Just dropped in for some sugary pastries. Chose two. $ 1.30 each. Very fresh and tasty.

The Good: The price is incredible for the quality of the food. An enormous gyro sandwich with incredible flavor on house-made bread was $ 5 flat. Can’t get much better than that. I also appreciate the simplicity — you simply walk up the counter and order a large. Done. The Not So Good: It took me too long to make it to this place for lunch. Final Verdict: I’ll definitely return. Best gyro I’ve had to date.

I love this place, but I think it has shut down/moved in the last year or so…(I was in at the Borsalino Café today for lunch, and they said they were the same people, so there’s that, too.) Like others have said, great bakery items and just a really nice ethnic place to visit. They only have the 1 thing as far as hot foods go, so that’s why I don’t come in for lunch very often.

Now if you follow my Unilocal, you know that I go on and on and on about West Beuchel being the hidden charm of Louisville, and there is something to that. The immigrant communities have brought much life to this part of Louisville. Different foods, clothes, stores, so much vibrant life is among us here. Things you don’t see in the rest of Louisville, or Kentucky, in general. West Beuchel is a hidden gem. This place being one of the places that brings Beuchel life. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the the place is too basic. But maybe thats its intention. There is not a complex menu or a «You wanna combo with that?» «What sides?» Nay. You walk in, are greeted by a charming Bosnian baker who when you say«A gyro please.» He will say«Small or big» and this is America so you best say big, he wilm get right to work and make you the best damn gyro to hit your taste buds. Why isn’t West Beuchel flooded with people trying to taste our food? Reputation has been a sore for us. But hopefully more people spread the word and realize the great gem that is West Beuchel.

I’m sorry, Unilocalers! I have been frequenting this wonderful place for more than a year, but apparently forgot to share it. I promise, I wasn’t trying to keep it to myself! Jasmin Bakery is a Bosnian place. It is mostly a bakery, but also has a lunch counter and small dining room. There is also a huge espresso bar, but I have never seen anyone using it. When you first enter Jasmin Bakery, you see big wooden shelves containing many loaves of various kinds of European breads. There is a delightful yeasty aroma in the bakery which will put your taste buds on alert. There is a deli case with some kosher luncheon meats, as well as some other items. There is also a big shelf with European cookies and candies and packages of some other European food items. Over the racks of bread, there are four pictures of sandwiches. That’s the whole lunch menu: no words, no descriptions, no prices. Just four pictures. The sandwiches are a big gyro, a smaller gyro, a hamburger and a sausage sandwich. I have tried everything but the small gyro. The big gyro is served on a freshly baked bun rather than the pita bread to which you may be accustomed. It is fantastic. The flavorful meat piled on the yeasty bun with vegetables and delightful tzatziki sauce is indescribably delicious. The small gyro is similar to the big gyro, but it is served on a flat bread. The hamburger is a favorite of mine. It is a Bosnian-style burger, unlike any burger I have had elsewhere. The patty is big, well seasoned, and pressed thin. It is served on a big, freshly baked, toasted yeasty roll with tomatoes, lettuce, onion and tzatziki. I would gleefully eat this burger any day of any week. The sausage sandwich is also wonderful. It consists of lots of small sausage links served on one of Jasmin’s toasted yeast rolls. Like the other sandwiches, this one comes with tzatziki. Although the menu doesn’t show prices, each of the sandwiches I have had has cost around $ 6.00. This place is a treasure. It will take a little longer than average for you to receive your order, but don’t worry: the food is well worth the wait.

There are four menu items: big gyro, small gyro, gyro burger, and a sausage sandwich. The small gyro is a meal; the big gyro is two. Phenomenal stuff, and the actual baked goods are also great. Bonus: everything is very inexpensive.

This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. It’s a bakery so you can buy freshly baked breads, pastries, and baklava. If you go here for lunch order the«big» or «small», which refers to the sandwich size you want. Basically it is Jasmin’s take on a gyro, in sandwich form. The bread is fresh and it is piled high with shawarma meat, lettuce, tomato, and a creamy tzatziki sauce. If you get the big you’re in for a food coma the rest of the afternoon, be warned! I’d recommend going before the lunch rush because it can get super busy.

Love this place for the gyro sandwiches! I’d take this for lunch over subway any day. Absolutely scrumptious meat and sauce in those gyros. The owner is very friendly and helpful too :)

Very simple place with a good product. Hits the spot when in need for a gyro. Best part about this place is that ingredients seem very fresh, while some other gyros in town are not the freshest to say the least. Not sure there is a menu, just ordered from the pictures on the wall, pretty easy you have 4 choices. Huge sandwich I had for lunch and dinner for $ 5.

This is a perfect little lunch time spot! Wow! I decided to give this Bosnian place a try after reading a local website’s write up. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but ended up being very surprised. Upon arrival, tables were full but not to capacity. The line to order was 8 people deep, but it didn’t take that long to order. This place is a small grocery store/bakery where you can find all sorts of things. The bakery part has pastries & breads. What makes this place shine are the gyros. If I’m not mistaken this is really called a Kebap Doner(but referred to as the big & small ones here). They also have a sausage type menu item. I can’t believe that this place has been around for so long & I haven’t heard of it until now. When walking into the place, you wouldn’t think it’s a restaurant type place. The menu consists of 4 unlabeled pictures. Big one(gyro like but with a bun instead of pita). Small one(gyro like but with a bun instead of pita). A beef burger. A skinless sausage menu item. I decided to go with the big one & a chocolate pastry. You could tell the regulars from the first-timers. I’m curious if it has always been like that or if this recent piece on a local website is causing everyone to try it. It would be really easy to mess this meal up, but it was a perfect lunch! Absolutely perfect! Lamb/beef? mix, iceberg lettuce, white onion, tomato, & some type of white sauce. I’m thinking sour cream. I also sensed garlic & onions in that sauce. I’m going to ask questions the next time I’m in there. Either way… It was delicious! The bread bun… FRESH! All of the ingredients were fresh & doing their part to hit your taste buds! The same with the chocolate pastry. It’s my understanding that they have different flavors at different times. Today they only had chocolate. I went ahead & ordered one although they didn’t look that fresh in the case. Was I wrong! Flaky, fresh, & delicious! This place is receiving 5 stars from me easily. I almost took off 1 star & here’s why. When going in, it’s a bit chaotic at first. The regulars are used to going in… I want this, this, & this… I’ll be sitting over here. They pay once they’re finished eating. The first-timers or to-go folks stand in line, order, pay, & then wait. On a very busy day with many to-go orders/people waiting could make this chaotic(I’m still almost positive that this other guy ordered a big one that was behind me in line, we were waiting, when the next one came out… he jumped(in a very unapologetic way) in front of me & took it). The cashier/owner(I presume) did take notice & made sure that the very next to-go big one was mine! Maybe implement numbers in the future for to-go orders? I loved the food! I finished my meal nearly 2 hours ago & I’m still thinking about it! I’ll definitely be back!

Had the big gyro today. Served on a fresh bakery bun. Probably one of the best if not the best I’ve had, and I’ve had just about all Louisville has to offer. Also had a strawberry cream cheese croissant(because they were out of chocolate). Great. All the bread items looked good. Prices are reasonable. Nothing to complain about. A new favorite for me.
