I have had two experiences with Goulds, one positive and one negative. The first experience, I purchased a breast pump. The lady who does all of the insurance information was the one who helped me and she was wonderful. She was able to get my Insurance information and forms completed quickly and I was able to walk out with a breast pump that day. It was a very pleasant experience.
I went into Gould’s this morning to get a replacement part for my son’s nebulizer. I was told I needed a prescription, so I called my pediatrician’s office and they faxed over a prescription for a replacement kit. Hours later, I received a voicemail from in employee at Gould’s. She did not leave her name, but indicated they had received the fax from my pediatrician, but had questions regarding the prescription and I needed to call them back.
When I called back, they said they had no record of my sons name, no fax, and no information entered in their system. I explained I had received a phone call and was returning someone’s call. The woman said, «Well, we have a lot of people who work here. I don’t know who called you. I guess I could ask around, but I have a lot of co-​workers.» The receptionist said she would call me back.
Fast forward 2 hours later and I had called my doctors office and ask them to fax over a new prescription. When I called Goulds back, they indicated that yes they had received the new prescription and had my information in the system. So nice of them to call me and tell me.
So, you have a 50 – 50 chance of having a positive experience if you visit this location.

Had a positive experience last Saturday morning. Amber was very helpful searching for and finding replacement equipment. She checked my insurance coverage on-​line and made sure my out of pocket amount due was correct.

These people are a bunch of Medicare frauds! We had a wheelchair delivered to our family member while a patient in a skilled rehab unit and upon discharge, they arranged to have Gould’s deliver a wheelchair to her, knowing that we were moving her to the West Coast to live with us. They have hounded us for co-​pays (which any reputable HME company would not) and when we told them to pick up the wheelchair, they said we’d have to return it. We’ve turned them into Medicare since they continue to bill Medicare after we asked them to pick up the wheelchair. Again, MEDICARE FRAUD!!! Avoid at all cost!

Went to store on Dutchman’s lane. Had orders from Doctor to continue home therapy. He wrote order to get the equipment for home use that was like the equipment I was using in his therapy department. Two personnel at this store totally gave me the run around. They bounced my from one person to another. Was there for over an hour without direct answers on anything. When asked what was going on they said it would be a little longer, Finally told them couldn’t wait any longer. They said, «OK we will call you in a little bit.» Finally heard from them late the next morning. Lady was not friendly on phone. Before I could ask a question, she interrupted me and asked if she could send the order back to me. It wasn’t worth continuing the conversation with her, so I said, «yes.»
I then contacted my therapist. Told him the story. He said, «Oh, yea. They are terrible.»

What an awful experience @ this business. I needed to return something purchased for my father. It had been a few weeks since the purchase but when you are dealing w a family member that has been through a major catastrophe then ends up hospitalized foe several weeks, well you are pretty busy. Went to return the item tonight-​not ever used– and the owner went simply ballistic. Criticized my character, was basically screaming @ me, became so agitated and red in the face. I seriously thought @ one point in the parking lot that he would strike me. Total verbal abuse and refused to understand why it had been a few weeks to return (guess he has people to run around for him during stressful times! and return things). And all over $ 58. What a pathetic, angry person especially to assault my character. I think the fact that I kept my temper agitated him even more. Will NEVER do business here again. They don’t explain any of their policies when you purchase something, just come in during d/​c– not as if there isn’t anything going on @ that time! And then are so money Hungary they don’t want to accept a return. One of my favorite remarks was «we’ll you paid for it” — duh of course we did they don’t let merchandise out the door w/​out purchasing. Just so unprofessional and hostile. Don’t think he likes people that stand up to him. Best description– he’s a bully.

I was impressed that I didn’t need to make the trip to Louisville for medical supplies. I was being treated for physical therapy at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. Upon examination it was decided that one of the reasons for my severe back pain and limp was because my left leg has become significantly shorter than the right. Gould’s dropped off several styles/​sizes of wedges that can be worn with your shoe. The physical therapist fitted me and charged me only for the one that was a correct fit. I wrote my check directly to Gould’s Discount Medical and they picked up the unused wedges and payment. How easy can that be!

The folks there at Gould’s are a class act! I stepped into the showroom and was taken back by the sheer volume of their space. Lines are usually long but very quick. (If that makes sense) There’s obviously a reason for it, they’re hands down the best in the business! Highly recommend Gould’s to anyone in need of medical supplies or equipment!
