Fleur-​De-​Lis Academy of Ballet is a pre-​professional ballet studio in Louisville, KY that is committed to excellent training through an innovative and balanced teaching methodology. Beginning students learn basic ballet vocabulary through childhood songs, reading the stories of the great ballets, and watching video excerpts of the professionals. Students progress through a carefully crafted syllabus that reflects age appropriate development and kindles individual creative expression. Because we believe that an education in ballet goes beyond what is taught in the studio, we also offer community classes that include ballet history, cooking, documentary showcases, nutrition, physical therapy, academic tutoring, and wellness. We are committed to the inspiring process of revealing the dancer within each student, promoting artistic expression, and upholding the technical excellence.

History

Established in 2014.

We are a new business to Louisville community. Our origin comes from the belief that inside each little girl, and most young men, is a ballet dancer waiting to be revealed. Our mission is to extend the highest quality training at the most affordable tuition. It is our desire to ensure that all of those who wish to dancer can have the opportunity to pursue their dream.

Business Owner

Ariadne began dancing at the age of 3 and by the age of 11 knew this was the career for her. This took her on a fantastic journey across the United States studying at such pre-​professional schools as the Houston Ballet Academy, the Miami City Ballet School, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and the School of American Ballet in New York City.

However, throughout all of this training her most influential mentor was Dan Duell of Ballet Chicago. Dan was a principal dancer at New York City Ballet during the time of George Balanchine and it was during her time at Ballet Chicago under his teaching that her artistry truly blossomed.

At the age of 22 Ariadne decided to turn her attention to choreography and teaching. It was at this time she Co-​Founded the Charlottesville Ballet which is now in its 8^th year.

Two years ago she relocated to Louisville and joined the faculty of the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts where she continues to teach every summer!
