D & S Automotive Repair

This place is great. I started taking my cars here a few years back based on word of mouth, and I have yet to be disappointed. I have had the guys at D & S work on 3 cars over a few years now, and I always bring my cars back for anything else. They are always so kind to give me advice and input on what the problems are, what the best solution is, the cheapest solution is, and the give warnings on how to avoid problems in the future, or how to prevent similar problems in the future.
They have always checked over my car for free, and told me the problems and costs of fixing these problems, then I can walk away without paying anything if I don’t think it’s worth the cost. They will also tell you cheaper less ideal options if you want to save money but still get the job done for the time being. They know not every customer is looking to keep their car for life, and just needs something to take them from point A to point B. They go over all options with the customer to find what’s right for them. When I decide I do want them to do the work, or get parts for me, they are usually very fast getting work done same day or next day at this point (unless it’s a major overhaul or requires a super rare part).
They can be very busy since they are so good and great to work with, so I suggest calling ahead if you can plan on dropping a car off at a certain time. This will speed up your process even more.
They’ve never been anything other than overly helpful and looking out for what’s best for the customer. They never pressure you into anything, and always give you options, or you can even walk away without feeling pressured or guilty. I’ve never been lied to or tricked into paying for unnecessary repairs (like I have at other service shops). These guys are amazing, and me, my wife, my parents, and my sister all go to D & S now due to their great customer first attitude, knowledge, quick work, and honesty. I recommend them to anyone looking for an honest mechanic in Louisville. I no longer live in Hikes Point, but still go out of my way to take my cars there.

To the one comment on our shop we have never once talked to anyone the way you said we talked to you second we don’t charge for diagnostics if we repair the car nor do we ever tell anyone a price for a problem when we don’t know what it is and we don’t diagnos cars while people wait they always get dropped off for a drivability concern. And how do you know anyone was cheaper than us we didn’t price anything to you. So before you go bashing my company at least be honest because he was told several times he has to drop it off with us. We are extremely easy to get along with as everyone in hikes point knows. We go up against shops in Louisville all the time and we make them look bad all the time be it skill, quality of work and price. Also the guy you speak of is one of the owners not just some young who dosent know how we do things so Im sorry you feel the way you do about us but an entire portion of Louisville can’t be wrong about us we are not the type of people you are making us out to be. And if you ever have anything in the future we can do for you we will still help you we don’t leave anyone out to dry because we do believe in what goes around comes around. We help people every day as the other review has stated. Thanks by the way for proving my point we started this place to show there are still good honest people still out there in the line of work. I appologize if this in any way comes off rude or arrogant. We stay busy for a reason.

My brake lights had gone out and I was so scared of the possibilities… fuses, switches, burnt out wiring! Turns out these guys are the best! They got me in the same day we called, found the only problem was a disconnected wire, and did not try to add anything else. In fact because it was a quick, easy fix for them they didn’t even charge me for reconnecting the wire. They only asked for my future business! They have it, and I will be passing on the word about this great business anytime I hear someone needs an automotive repair.

This place is HORRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
My husband called and spoke with an employee at the shop about getting a tune up done on our car. He told him that I would be bringing it by to have the FREE diagnostic exam done, and making an appointment to bring it back the following day to have the repairs done on it. The employee said that was fine. My husband also let him know that I would have to wait for the diagnostic exam, because I didn’t have any other way to get back home., the employee also said that was fine and it wouldn’t take long at all and I could wait.
I come in to have the diagnostics ran. As soon as I got out of the car I was a little confused as to where the office was. I asked a man that was working there and he very rudely said «uhh, probably in the back where the sign is I would think.» I was a little put off by his attitude but just ignored it. When I got to the office there was a young blond guy in there. I told him that my husband had called and he said he remembered. He asked if I was ready to drop off the car. I reminded him that I was going to have to wait while he ran the test and would be coming back for repairs tomorrow. He then got an attitude and said «I f***ing told your husband you could not wait here.» I was really surprised and just told him that I would be dropping the car off tomorrow and leaving while the repairs where done. He then informed me that since I wasn’t having the repairs done the same day he wanted to charge me $ 200 for the diagnostic exam! I asked him why he told my husband differently on the phone, and he basically said my husband didn’t listen and it wasn’t his fault.
I know my husband, and I know he makes sure to get ALL the information about everything before we take our car in. He also always makes notes of everything said so that we know. This man at the shop was lying to me. At this point, I was getting angry. I had my 3 year old with me and just told him that I would be taking my business somewhere else. I found a VERY NICE place that did an AMAZING job in Hikes Point really close to my house, and gave me a WAY better price too!
