Went for brunch with a few of my friends and the food was amazing! They had the salmon and caviar quesadilla while I had the steak and eggs… Also met the owners Neil and Paul and they were more than accommodating… I could tell they really value the opinions of their patrons and were there to personally put some finishing touches on their patio, which my friends and I really enjoyed! This was our first time here and we are definitely coming back and introducing everyone to our new chill spot! I would recommend to anyone considering great food, amazing service, and a great time with friends… Can I give more stars please!

Still gets 5 stars! We met for a girls night at Citizen 7 and had their awesome patio mostly to ourselves. We split a pitcher of Highlands margaritas. They were perfect!
We split the guac and it is the guac that all other guacs should aspire to become. That good. For real! I got the Vegetariano taco with rice. Absolutely outstanding flavor in the vegan chorizo! My friend got the plantains and they liked delightful. Our other friend had the empanada and it looked really great. I would love it if they could make the empanada vegetarian. That might make me petition Unilocal for a 6^th star option for Citizen 7! Keep on doing things right!

Great experience tonight. The place was full, but there were open seats. Still, the hostess wouldn’t seat us. I was annoyed at first, but she explained they had a big rush with the rain and didn’t want to overwhelm the kitchen. GREAT thinking. So we headed to the bar. The wait wasn’t long, but we ended up sitting in the bar area. We waited a while for the bartender to clean the table, in her defense, there was a clean table. We just wanted the view by the window. She had a large group and did a great job. We used our check in for free chips and salsa! Our waitress had no idea what the check in was about, but asked her superiors and we had no issues using it. The first time I had their salsas, I wasn’t a fan. The past two times I’ve had it have been awesome! They seemed to have changed their ingredients in a good way. We ordered the margarita pitcher. You get three margaritas, so it’s a little better deal than buying single drinks. I was bummed to see the chorizo tacos were gone, however there is now a chorizo option for vegans! I had the slow cooked beef and pork belly. The slow cooked beef was amazing! The toppings worked seamlessly. I didn’t care for the pork belly, but my mom loved it. I honestly don’t care for fat on meat, so it was a bad choice on my part. The fried cod was a delight! Surprisingly spicy. Fresh and crispy. I will get that again! The Guac was good! Side note, you can get a small order to add to the salsa :) I saw an order of the kale salad and empanadas. I will definitely get those next time. Honestly, I have been very impressed with the changes that have been made. Very pleasant dining experience tonight :) Keep up the good work.

I might be a little biased because I went on the prettiest day so far this year, but I had a great experience. I recommend springing for the top shelf marg, the guac, and the elote. Oh and the blood orange sorbet! Very relaxed atmosphere, great service. I want to go back and check out the brunch, it sounds amazing.

Not a bad spot for happy hour, they have good drink deals with bottomless chips and 1 free tray of salsa. All of the salsas tasted about the same, no real discerning flavor.
Our table ordered the queso and guacamole. The queso had a slight back end heat that was nice and it was a decent portion for the price. The guacamole was fresh and was a good amount for the price but had no flavor– it needed garlic, cumin or something to make it pop. After the queso we each ordered an «antojitos» to taste and share with the table. The asparagus was hands down the best selection that was made, with a perfectly poached egg on top. We also ordered the short rib empanada and albondigas. The empananda filling was dry and the outside was greasy. The albondigas had a nice sauce with a little heat but the meatball themselves were not that flavorful and once again greasy– which seemed to be the theme of the night.
For how much this restaurant hyped up, it was a bit of a dissapointment when it came to the food. I’ve had much better quality food at less «high-​end» restaurants. The only reason I would return would be for happy hour drinks before going to a restaurant for dinner.

My kale salad was really good. The guacamole and salsa was just ok. My steak taco was good but my chicken taco was too salty. My friends all agreed it was ok. Manager was less than friendly but the waitress was great.

One man bringing a rating down. Atmosphere was great, beer was cold and the food was good. Service not so much. It is a shame because everyone other than our waiter seemed helpful and friendly. He on the other hand seemed irritated at every question or comment. Never seen a waiter so put off by he question of «anything special today.»
And don’t bother checking in for the chips and salsa. I mentioned it twice after showing him the add on my phone, and all he said was «sorry, don’t know anything about that.» And then still billed me for it.

Some of the best tacos around and the Highland margarita is the bomb!
Love that Norton Commons is turning into a go to restaurant area.

We just had Easter brunch and it was delicious! The skirt steak was so tender and the marinade gave it amazing flavor, Mamosa’s and must and be apple empanada was to die for. My 10-​year-​old was speechless. His review is attached in a video. Lol
Try for Easter brunch you won’t be disappointed!

This place is okay. Starters– We ordered the queso & chips with salsa. The queso got cold very fast, the skillet it was in was obviously just for looks bc it did not help keep it warm for very long. The chips were cold as well. If I go to a Mexican place & have to pay for chips & salsa, I want the «fresh chips» to come out warm. (I mean Chili’s even serves warm chips & have hot skillets) And, the appetizers came out before our 2 beers! Dinner– Tacos were decent, a lot like qdoba.
The service was really lacking personality or spunk. Not necessarily rude, just blah. I feel like the staff needs a simple course, server 101. Offer water when alcohol is ordered, don’t rush the customer to order when they just received the appetizer, offer another beverage when their drinks are low, offer dessert, ALWAYS ask if they are ready for their check, never assume & give it to them.
Another huge disappointment was watching the servers & manager on duty come out of kitchen area with food in their mouth. I’ve worked in restaurants & that is not only a health violation, but gross. Eat off the clock people.
The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is mainly because of the host on duty. Such a nice & polite guy! Friendly greeting, & after a ‘not so impressive dinner’ he was enthusiastic as we were leaving. Asking what our server (or hungry MOD) should’ve been asking.“how was everything” & «come back & see us» Very genuine, great attitude, made me want to come back
I get this is supposed to be one of those cool, hip places. I don’t care for over/​friendly annoying, in your face service. Just get the basics down.
This place has potential. Staff needs to get it together & maybe just get over themselves. We frequent this neighborhood often with friends & dining out. I hope to have a better review later, for the love of tacos, I’m not completely giving up.
*Note* We came in for dinner, Thursday night, 7pm, about 50% capacity

Food is good. Love that they have pork rinds so we can do low carb queso and guacamole. Wine pours are heavy :). Bailey is a rockin’ server with tons of personality — ask for her if you tip well. Sometimes hard to find in the Ville.

Horrible service… after waiting 10 minutes at the bar I asked the bartender if I could have a menu. He just placed it on the bar. I waited another 15 minutes I finally had to ask him if I can order a drink which took him 10 minutes to make a margarita (isn’t this a Mexican restaurant ??)Drank my margarita and not once did he ask if I was ready to order any food. All bartenders seemed more interested in cleaning the glasses. You just lost 25.00 because I would have had another margarita some tacos and beans. I guess it was probably a good thing i didn’t order food because I saw no less than 4 waitresses waiting for food. Probably would have waited another 45 minutes!
Better get this place in line or the doors will close soon.

Food was excellent and the Highland margarita was delicious, not to mention powerful. Only the second night open and the place was packed. This is going to be a fun place to hang out in the summer. Welcome to Norton Commons guys! It’s great to have you as neighbors.

Located on Norton Common’s central thoroughfare, Citizen 7 has a casual and boisterous feel to it. The room is open and tables are quite close together which creates a neighborly atmosphere (don’t expect to have a quiet conversation or romantic mood lighting).
I was glad to have found a parking spot on the street nearby. Note — parking can be tricky as this is a bustling, planned community with various other restaurants and businesses in the vicinity.
The menu consists of a tailored offering of appetizers, tacos, and sides. We started our meal with the delicious (and silky-​smooth) queso with chips. Citizen 7 serves taco-​sized tortillas fried up whole instead of cut chips. Beautiful presentation and fun twist on a standard. My traditional Paloma, not the spicy version on the menu, was the perfect compliment.
I love elote (grilled corn on the cob fancied up with herbs, spices, and grated cheese), so I was happy to see it in the menu ($ 5). This version has some kick and is fantastic! For my taco selections, I went with a grilled shrimp and a crispy fish. Small, yet affordable ($ 3.75/$ 4), they both were flavorful. The fish had a bit more texture. Definitely need multiple items to fill you up especially if you skip appetizers/​sides.
We decided to have a post-​dinner drink at Commonwealth Tap, located just down the street, so no dessert on this trip. My dinner, with one drink and tip came in at around $ 30. A comparable tab to places like Silver Dollar or El Camino.

We have been looking forward to trying this place since it opened.
Had read good things about the food and bar and atmosphere. But knew the kinks of a «new place» were still being worked out.
The pluses:
The atmosphere
The bar and bartenders
The margarita selection
The minuses:
The food
The lack of contents in the taco shells
The cost of the not so great food.
We expected a wait for a table. (which we chose not to do at the restaurant itself due to the amount of people waiting).
We expected the service staff to not be fully trained — but they did the best the could.
What we didn’t expect was the long, long, long wait for our actual meals which are street tacos. Street tacos.
We are familiar with street tacos we know they are not large tacos but these tacos were not full at all. And they were not as great as we had hoped
We frequent the area regularly and hope these folks can pull it together!

Came here tonight for the first time. I live in Norton Commons and was really excited about this place because I recently moved from Southern California where there are lots of places to get good tacos! I had such high expectations but was really let down.
I ordered 3 tacos and a side of rice, and my mom got 2 tacos and a side of rice.
It took OVER AN HOUR to get our food. It’s tacos… Not an elaborate meal. The 2 tables near us ordered after we did and got their food before us. No one ever addressed or apologized for such a long wait. After about 45 minutes of waiting, our server brought us some plain chips to munch on. It was a nice gesture which I’m sure he only did because he could tell we were starving. Salsa with the chips would have been nice. They give chips and salsa out for free at the majority of restaurants like this, but not here I guess.
When we finally got our food, the tacos were very mediocre. I really cannot believe how expensive these tacos are for how little food you get. And they don’t taste like anything special either. Tacos should have way more filling and substance than what they are serving here or the prices should be lower. They were a huge disappointment.
The sides of rice were cold, rubbery and the portion sizes were ridiculous– there were a couple spoonfuls of rice in our bowls. The portion sizes actually made us laugh because it looked like someone ate most of the rice out of the serving bowls before they were brought to the table lol.
I *never* complain about my food to servers, but we asked for new sides of rice because the rice we were originally brought wasn’t edible. The server was nice and apologized, and brought us back tiny portions fresher rice with basically no flavor. $ 3 for tiny sides of bland rice is really bizarre.
Anyway, my mom and I are both tiny people and we left this place hungry after spending over $ 40 and way too much time here. That should tell you something.
I had a margarita and it was pretty good, and the atmosphere is cool… Those are the only 2 reasons I’m leaving more than one star.
We were so so disappointed with this place.

I love tacos, and being gluten free, they’re a large part of my diet. There are many taco locations in Louisville to try… But, I suppose I had my hopes set too high for this place…
PROs:
* great location!
* cheaper margarita option tastes good.
* nice atmosphere.
* Pork Belly taco, while small, is flavorful.
CONs:
* for $ 3 – 4.75 a taco, I would expect more than a little bit of filling inside. There are taco places in Louisville where I get a taco for $ 1.50 that is STUFFED with meat.
* Carnita meat was dry and sad.
* waitress who brought out the tacos was unable to differentiate between the tacos that were not Pork Belly tacos
* Chorizo meat was really dry — almost as if it was overlooked.
This place was ok, but I didn’t really feel like I got my moneys worth at the end of my meal. I’ve never eaten 3 tacos and left still kind of hungry before, until this evening. I’m hoping that this is just «growing pains» and that the food will be more consistent in the future.
Pork Belly taco: small, but solid.

Randomly stumbled upon this new (4 days open) gem in Norton Commons. I went with 5 other girls when they opened and got some plates to share. We ordered the chips and salsa (a little forgettable), queso, and guacamole (incredible!). They were served with fried tortillas rather than chips which I thought tasted way better!
The atmosphere was really nice and trendy. There is a full bar but also plenty of seating which is great for groups. It is in a great location in Norton Commons and will be a frequent for my husband and I this summer. Definitely go around 5 or later… We were there when they opened (at 4:00) and we were the only ones there which was a little awkward with the army of servers and hostess. Overall though, great experience.

Just getting home from the soft opening tonight. First, love the atmosphere! It’s very welcoming and you can tell they paid a lot of attention to the details. The tables are branded — literally.
We tried the guacamole to start and it was delicious. The corn tortillas tasted so fresh and the flavor of the guacamole was on point. A little bit of spice, a little bit of tomato and big chunks of fresh avocado.
For my second course I had the oxtail empanada and it was hands down the star of the meal! I’m from Latin America and found the flavor to be reminiscent of foods my parents cooked for me growing up. Highly recommend it.
And for my main course, tacos, of course! I got both the grilled gulf shrimp and chorizo verde. Both were good but I preferred the chorizo — but mainly because I’m obsessed with chorizo. :)
Finished with some key lime cheesecake which came out in a cup and was tart but well-​balanced, and some churros. CHURROS. Need I say more?
Washed it all down with some of their signature cocktails which were as good as expected.
Definitely looking forward to my next visit!
