We played on a Sunday night sand volleyball team at Baxter Jack’s. We’ve never gotten food or drinks there but enjoy going there every week to play with our team. Our team is basically in the beginner’s league. The competition is tough, and we have yet to win a match. However, the competition isn’t so tough that we aren’t able to have fun. They schedule games from 4:30 and on, and there are lots of times and days to choose from when you first schedule your team. No pets are allowed, but they do let you bring in your own water bottles for the games. They also give you a short time to practice right before the start of each game, which is much needed for our team. I’ve only looked over the food & drink options once, but it’s your standard«stadium food» like nachos, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. and they seem to have mass-market beer with a few different craft brews like West Sixth. Our only negative experience has been with an injury sustained on the courts. One of our team members stepped in broken glass on the sand court. She cut her foot pretty badly, and we found that there was very little first aid to speak of. They gave her an alcohol swab and band-aid but had nothing else to help her remove the glass. She ended up having to make a direct care visit to take care of the wound. The staff member seemed unsympathetic and asked her three times if she was sure she stepped in glass on the court. They made no effort to clean up the glass afterward either. Other than that, it’s a fun place to play sand volleyball, the leagues are well organized, the price is reasonable and I’m excited to play again in the spring.

Best beach volleyball in town. Sand is deep, and competition is strong. New deck adds appeal to the scene, and is a decent place to have a beer before or after a match. Great venue for spectators as well

Baxter Jacks is basically the only location I can see beautiful white sand in Louisville. Makes me feel like I’m back home in Florida. The property itself is huge considering its location relative to downtown and the Highlands. The sand volleyball courts appear in good condition, and theres regular leagues that play here. Plenty of room for spectators under large covered patios, plenty of parking, but their real downfall is the menu options for meals here. Its the same food you’d get at a little league baseball game, meals from freezer to microwave in a few short seconds. They do have a couple beers on tap, but there’s no guarantee they will have kegs tapped and ready to pour. If this place invested in a kitchen to prepare a decent menu, I really think they would be a hot spot and a reason to visit besides volleyball.

Great location with sand courts for volleyball leagues who want to enjoy the outdoors during the game. The deck and buckets of beer make it feel more like a trip to the beach than a corner in Louisville. Good time for all, players and cheering section alike.
