Specialties
We have guaranteed rafting 5 days a week for the 2015 summer! Having guided over 280,000 guests connecting them with some of California’s most beautiful and popular rivers. During our 43 years in business, we’ve maintained the best safety record in the industry. Our amazing campground spans ½ mile of riverfront and is conveniently located in the Sierra foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe in the Coloma/Lotus Valley.
Our programs reflect the thoughtfulness and quality of our staff. We have a wide variety of carefully conceived programs featuring whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking, challenge ropes courses, team building events, and an experiential learning program. These programs are designed so that a choice of combinations can achieve a wide variety of objectives. Whatever the size or character of your group, our adventure specialists have the expertise to tailor our facilities, programs and staff to meet your needs.
History
Established in 1972.
Mother Lode started initially as a whitewater rafting school, where guides taught all participants the basics of river running, ecology, natural history and conservation, including a letter writing program that continues today, and has generated over 20,000 letters, helping save 13 rivers from being damned and providing flows that are healthier for the river’s ecosystem and provide more recreational opportunities for the public. Our business has gradually grown to include an onsite challenge ropes course, and outdoor education programs in science and gold rush history.
Meet the Manager
Scotty S.
Manager
I’ve been working for Mother Lode River Center for 13 years now, and what keeps bringing me back is the wonderful people who come to work and play here at this very special and beautiful place on the river. I love learning about all facets of the river, from the hydrology behind what creates those huge roller coaster waves in the rapids, to the biology of the rich riparian ecosystem, to the policies that go into protecting our wild places in nature. And I love sharing that knowledge with our guests in all our programs.
