Sea Pines Golf Resort

Stayed here for Valentines Day weekend while also visiting friends in Osos. We had an issue with our online booking when we arrived and the dates were wrong. They didn’t have any available rooms on hand and we were screwed as everything in town was booked or super expensive because of the holiday. Cindy at the front desk was super helpful and called me hours later (7pm) when a room became available at Sea Pines due to a cancellation, and got us a room for the second night as well! She went out of her way and we had a great stay in a nice clean and comfy room for the weekend. Would defiantly stay there again!

The room was spacious and clean. Had no trouble checking in or out. Had a very nice stay.

We stayed here on a visit to Morro bay with the family. I reviewed several places in Morro bay and none looked as comfy as this location. I’m happy to say I was right! We had a double room the beds were so comfortable, the rooms were very clean. I am not a golfer so I can’t rate that part but the grounds were excellent. The staff was friendly they even have a large selection of DVD they will lend you. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here would definitely stay here again!

This review is strictly for the golf course…
This is the best 9 hole course in San Luis obispo county. The greens run soft but are very green along with the approaching fairway. Unlike other 9 holes this is very challenging course, best part is because I’m not good at golf I was able to enjoy the wonderful view of morro rock and the surrounding estuary. I highly recommend at least trying the course once!

I just walked out of this restaurant. As I sat for 15 minutes on the patio, being ignored, so I asked a woman inside wearing a Sea Pines uniform, and socializing with those at the bar, if she was the hostess. She said she didn’t work there. There was a big crowed at the bar but obviously, helping out was not her «job». Several minutes later she brought a menu to my table and apologized for the slow service — that another server was on the way. She then sat down to chat with the two people sitting outside, behind me. (Then, OMG, behind me, I heard someone loudly clearing their throat and spitting. It was REALLY loud. I looked around, the non-​working employee was still talking to the only two people on the patio as if nothing had happened. Who spat? No matter, I left. And won’t go back, even though I live very close.

Came to play a round of disc golf and then finished with lunch here. All the employees were helpful and happy. Our waitress, Jennifer, was so good. She offered tips and the right amount of attentiveness. Fish and chips were delicious-​well cooked and nice portions. Clam chowder was also worth having again. We will definitely be back!

If you’re in Los Osos (okay most can stop reading now) Sea Pines Golf Resort is a good option, if not your only option. I’ve stayed here a few times now and I’d say every time has been enjoyable. The staff is always friendly and the resort is usually pretty quiet. The rooms are nothing to rave about, but there’s a lot to do in this area so I wouldn’t imagine most people spend that much time in their rooms.
Do you like to golf? If so, as a guest you can get a round for $ 13! Quite the deal, or so I’m told by my significant other.

Really cool spot. Didn’t know what to expect at first because I found the place on Groupon. Needed a getaway and this was a great choice. Rooms were very big and very nicely set up with a patio and a view. Awesome state parks right on the coast about a mile south. Go on a nice weekend because there’s outdoor recreation all around. Golf and disc golf. An added bonus is its 10 minutes down Los Osos Valley road to downtown SLO, so we went out to dinner and it was just a quick drive back. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a fun getaway.

I visit Sea Pines twice per year in the winter and in the summer. My first visit here was by accident when I booked my reservations at the wrong place, but I’m glad I did. It’s in the middle of everything north of Pismo, west of SLO and south of Morro. The rooms could be updated but I’m not going to complain about it. The staff is friendly and the golf course is great, that’s why I play once per day when I stay here. Best part is I can always get on the course in less than 20 minutes. Keep up the good work!

First off, the place only calls itself a resort so that they can charge an extra $ 10 «resort fee» for things I had no desire using (things that other hotels actually include in the stay for no charge). And they only say that you are gonna be charged such fee upon check in. Anyway, I called and asked to reserve a room I saw online. It wasn’t from a third party site, it was from their OWN website. I was told that they were completely booked up. So for giggles, I decided to make reservation through their website assuming that I would get the same message. Instead I received a call confirming my reservation from the SAME EXACT GIRL WHO TOLD ME THEY HAD NO MORE ROOMS! The fact she flat out lied to me kinda pissed me off but needing a place for the night, I kept the reservation. There was not much parking (parked on street) and the room, although large and nice enough, stunk like an old attic. Kinda disappointed with the ‘quality’ the ‘resort’ (like others have said, it isn’t a resort, it is only a hotel with some nice ammenities on the property). Only way I would stay again is if I had a lot better rate and maybe just not lied to and treated a little better. Its a cool place for Los Osos but you can find much better on the central coast.

I’ve always loved staying at Sea Pines but this stay was awful. My room stunk and there were spots and stains all over the carpet and chairs. I was scared to sleep on the sheets so me and my grand children slept on top of the bedding and they froze thier booties off. The staff was nice and that’s why they got one star.

I have a home on this golf course and wanted to provide a little local perspective.
The views are amazing. You go from scenes of Morro Rock to the shade of spreading eucalyptus trees. Sure, it is only 9 holes, but there is water and there are trees, so the challenge is there. For the cost and walk-​on-​ability, you can’t beat it.
The Club House is also solid. Breakfast there is very good. Try the eggs benedict. Afternoon drinks are well priced and the beer is cold. During many summer weekends, they host a hip live music scene on weekends, where they serve drinks outside, you can dance on the manicured putting green and do some serious people watching.
They just added a spa. Haven’t tried it yet, but it is another offering to add variety.
Sure, if you are looking for luxury, you might want to look elsewhere. But for a gorgeous Central Coast haven at a reasonable price, you will be happy here.

Went to hear the music and was with a friend who had booked a room. I was stopped by the owner when I was crossing the greens to be informed that «you’re not allowed to bring your own «. I had a glass from the hotel room and when I informed him it was non alcoholic he backed off. Apparently when you book a room, you still need to pay inflated prices for drinks. Staff is great, owner not so much.

I stayed here in November of 2012. My stay at the hotel was fairly nice. The staff was friendly and the room was very spacious. Moreover, the breakfast at the hotel was very good. Moreover, the hotel’s golf course was very big and nice.
However, the hotel can be very difficult to find so I recommend getting directions in advanced. Also, the rooms were slightly outdated

Well I was sitting at the bar on Mother’s Day having a beer when the owner, Rocky Setting, approached me and got right up in my face and said «are you the guy that called on the trees?», and I responded «yes.» Rocky yells in my face while grabbing the beer out of my hand, «get off my property and never come back, ever, ever, ever.» He kept yelling at me, as I decided it was in my best interest to get out of the way of a raving, probably intoxicated property owner.
A couple of months prior to this incident, I had called the county about some trees taken out on the resort right behind my apartment and asked if Sea Pines had gotten a permit. They had not gotten a permit to remove the trees. I’m not sure what the procedure was to get a permit after the fact but the owner thought it important enough to make an ass out of himself on Mothers Day.

A lot of these prior reviews crack me up.
If you want an upscale resort go somewhere else and pay the extra cash. This was exactly as advertised to us. And why would I care that we didn’t have a refrigerator or microwave? We were on a weekend getaway and ate out. Yeah the décor was a bit outdated so hence the 4 stars. But everything else was fantastic.
The room was clean and spacious and the beds very comfortable. We used a Groupon and did not experience any of the shortcomings others mentioned. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. «Tyler» in the pro shop was great, from talking golf to recommending places to visit during our stay. He clearly enjoys his job and his passion is infectious. Carrie in the Clubhouse was also great. We told her up front we had a voucher for dinner and she treated us as if we were paying customers.
The golf course was well-​maintained and a fun executive layout. The greens were fast and in excellent condition.
As someone else mentioned, Montaño De Oro Park is relatively close by and definitely worth a look. As for local eateries, I seriously recommend Celia’s Garden Café for breakfast.

Definitely off the beaten path. All staff very nice and pleasant. We purchased a travel zoo voucher for 2 nights and we paid for the bay view and fireplace upgrade. It was worth it. Although the décor is dated, the rooms are very clean.
We had a flat screen tv and fridge in our room so it worked out nicely. The people in the bar/​restaurant were extremely nice.
We would have rated it a 4 but the hot tub was cold, especially the second night.
It is a good place to bring family since they also have adjoining rooms.
Also lots of birds singing all the time:-)

We purchased a couple of Groupons, totaling 3 nights. Still averaging $ 120 per night, we were looking forward to staying along the beautiful Central California coast. Los Osos was our destination.
Los Osos is a small town with little going on. If you are looking for stimulation, go into nearby Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo for night life, more sophisticated cuisine. Or take a trip up the coast as far as Hearst Castle. There is a nice, small selection of good wineries nearby.
Sea Pines Resort is surrounded by a small golf course. And do not expect to get one of their best rooms if you Groupon it. But by buying their Groupon package, we had a choice of two free wine tastings for two (each worth $ 10 total) at local wineries in the Edna Valley, or one round of free golf for two. And a free breakfast or lunch for two at their café, called The Clubhouse. Since I bought two packages and booked back to back, everything was doubled. Those little perks were worth about $ 90-​$ 100 of my total cost.
The accommodations? First the negatives.
No refrigerator. No microwave. No pool. Spa not working. No elevator to the second story rooms. Limited space for laying our things down. The coffee maker, soap basket and ice bucket took up large portion of the bathroom counter. No work desk. What we did have was a small 3′ diameter round table with two chairs on rollers. We had to move the table across the room to be able to plug in the laptop and use it, because the electrical outlets were placed in odd places, not close to the table. Dated furnishings and not in the best of condition. Slight musty smell. Older TV with limited channels. Mostly minor things, but worth mentioning.
The positives: Two good beds. I slept well. Quiet. Free wifi. Large spacious room and bathroom. Clean. Housekeeping services daily. Nice little patio seating outside our room. Close to the golf course and fresh ocean breezes. Our two meals, one breakfast and one lunch each, were decent food, nothing extraordinary, and completely free to us. And the free (for us) wine tasting was fun and resulted in several new bottles of wine coming home with us.
Overall, a good deal at about $ 85/​night not including food and wine, and a nice location. I would probably not pay their retail for this, however.

I was not overly impressed w/​this place. We stayed for a weekend. The décor was out dated and the rooms were nothing to write home about. I haven’t stayed in a. «non-​flat screen tv» room in a long time. Our cable worked, but we spent 45 minutes trying to get the DVD player to work so as to watch a movie. This ended up being a no go… As the DVD wouldn’t respond to anything. Also, our Internet would not work at all.
We golfed… But it was not enjoyable. The course is extremely narrow and not very well maintained. Also, we scheduled our tee time & when we arrived we were told to play hole #7 twice, as there was a concert on hole #9. I’m not against people having fun, but it was very frustrating to play golf w/​a band playing right behind where we were teeing off (8^th hole). Also, they schedule way too many t-​times. Therefore, it was a giant cluster f – k trying to get in a round of golf.
We had lunch in the restaurant. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was the greasiest thing I’ve ever had. Let me say, the burger WAS NOT juicy… But it was greasy. My boyfriend ordered a tri-​tip melt, and it was tiny. It looked like they served him only ½ a sandwich.
I know I sound like a complainer… Which I’m normally not. However, I was very disappointed w/​this place and would never come back/​recommend it.

We bought a Travelzoo package for $ 220 for weekend nights. It was for two nights room, dinner for two one night and a bottle of wine.
The room was a spacious with standard hotel room features and an outdoor sitting area on the balcony. Bathroom was large and the room had a double vanity. Beds were comfortable enough. The décor was dated, but overall the room was well maintained. The place was super quiet and peaceful, with birds chirping in the morning around the golf course.
The dinner was at the golf course diner. Huge portions. I had the surf and turf (Prawns & New York). The steak was wonderfully grilled and had delicious mushrooms and grilled onions smothering it. Baked potato was good. My lady had the halibut with panko crust with a baked potato. Nothing left on either of our plates.
We had the wine with dinner and there was no charge (not even tax) for anything for the whole weekend.
No matter what other Unilocalers may bitch about — this is a deal for the area. We spent two days visiting wineries in the area and this was a great base of operations.
If someone can find two nights, wine and dinner for two for $ 220 on a weekend around the Central Coast — do it!
The resort has dead trees that have been carved into cool animals.
