Silicon Valley Restaurant Week Launch Party

My first YEE event of the year and such a fun event to kick off the warm, sunny weather! I enjoyed the more intimate gathering on California Café’s patio and there aren’t enough words to describe their amazingly warm welcome. I would like to personally thank their manager for his kind welcome and his staff for going above and beyond to serve us.
Their small appetizers were all extremely tasty:
–Sliders with bacon and caramelized onions
— Mini crabcakes with chili aioli
— Stuffed mushrooms with nuts and blue cheese

The restaurant is super cute from the outside. Perfect for a nice spring day. Seating was limited and tight, so it was a bit uncomfortable at times. At one point I was sitting on a planter box with a girlfriend — a flower stained her pants. :(
Food & Drink: Amazing sliders — super flavorful and rich. Crab cakes — perfect with the aioli. Cheeses/​fruit are always hits. Sangria was delicious, but did attract little bugs — more flavor!
Funsies: I had not been to an event in awhile so it was nice to see some familiar faces! Shout out to Ben, Carl, Ly, Alex, and Camery! We were given a quiz to complete once we arrived for a chance to win a prize and we won! Woot woot. We also got YE socks at the end. I can’t wait to show em off!

Free flowing sangria for all Elites and $ 5 wines. With a very talented bartender :) the spread was very awesome. My favorite was the sliders. The crab cake and mushroom was very good. There were cheese plates and fruit plates and shrimp cocktail. I love those succulent shrimps! The LGC staff were all rockin’ the Unilocal shades. Cute!

SV restaurant week is my favorite week of the year! when they announced there will be TWO this year (seasonal: spring and fall), I almost died of happiness.
The waiters were more than helpful and friendly, each sporting awesome red Unilocal glasses. They came around with trays of crab cakes, mushrooms stuffed with blue cheese and nuts (i believe), and shrimp. On the main table, there were three cheeses paired with grapes and strawberries, crackers, and mini burgers that blew my mind: mini patty, mini buns, mini strip of bacon, caramelized onions, and brie cheese. Hello gluttony.
The trivia game was really fun: pair the restaurant with the menu. We were set up in teams, so I got the lovely opportunity to meet Danster :) Although we didn’t win, we definitely had fun.
Meeting Carl, the organizer of SVRW, was also great. He was so much humbler than I had imagined! Just full of positive energy to get people realizing how great the food establishments of silicon valley actually are. I can’t wait to try some.

The people were fabulous! Employees and the owner were super friendly and enthusiastic. I was pleasantly surprised to see so much food too! Those sliders were amazing (of course, who can resist a slider with BACON and BRIE?!?)! The sangria was deliciously dangerous!

The fabulous folks at Unilocal have done it again! Thank you Abby for throwing yet another great party! & to CA Café for hosting!
Drove up and saw that CA Café was located in the Old Town shopping area. The outdoor patio was gorgeous, we were surrounded by blooming flowers as the sun set & we mingled. The heated lamps and fire pit helped keep us warm against the light wind. There were only a handful of tables set up so you knew it would be a pretty intimate gathering!
My favorite item of the night? The mango pineapple basil sangria, of course! They kind of creep up on you lol. Another outstanding item was the bacon & brie sliders, can’t go wrong with anything that has bacon in it (: The crab cakes with chili aioli was another standout. I remember having their potstickers at the PA location with some of that chili aioli — MMM, delicious! Other samplings included shrimp cocktail (so good) and the spinach phyllo turnover with housemade ranch! I didn’t sample the stuffed mushrooms but I heard great things about them too. There was a huge cheese/​fruit platter with crackers on the table as well!
I have to hand it to the awesome waiters at CA Café! They were all dressed in striped shirts with cool Unilocal shades (: I was constantly offered a refill of that amazing sangria but I contained myself and kept it at two! They also kept bringing out more food & would make their way around several times. Always so cheerful and friendly — gotta love that service!
The SVRW quiz was a fun way to inform us of some of the menus available (starts next Wednesday)! Winners received Unilocal sunglasses! The wording inside was very clever — U.V. rays? F.U.C. ‘em! Swag of the night were Unilocal socks & of course lots of mints! Those tiny suckers pack some serious power! (Which definitely came in handy after the shrimp cocktail)
And who could forget the wonderful company I had? Always a pleasure seeing & meeting everyone! Definitely had a blast & can’t wait for the next one! (:

#94. My first event as an Elite! The perfect excuse to visit Los Gatos.
The appetizers must’ve made their way around a million times. I’m not a big fan of mushrooms, but the mushrooms they had were delicious. I kept going back for mushrooms and mushrooms and more mushrooms. The mango pineapple sangria was amazing as well. Not watered down and not overwhelming.
Good food, good drink, and good company! Abby, thank you for organizing this event for us!

The perfect venue for kicking off the Silicon Valley Restaurant Week! Thank you to Abby for setting up such a fun and elegant event.
Unilocalers got to enjoy a beautiful outdoor patio scene complete with ample food and drink. The complimentary pineapple-​mango sangria was refreshing and went smoothly with all the tasters. The Beef Sliders made of bacon, Brie, onions, and horseradish cream were delightful. Other delicious tasters included stuffed mushrooms, cocktail shrimp, mini crab cakes, spinach cheese empanadas, and a large cheese and fruit platter.
The California Café staff were extremely cheerful and upbeat. They came around often with more food samples, and made sure our drinks didn’t stay empty long! Top it off with excellent company and the launch party is a great success.
I couldn’t ask for a more perfect event. Thank you to the California Café for being such gracious hosts and taking good care of us. I definitely want to return for dinner or happy hour.
