Serrano’s Expert Tree Service

David and his crew did a great job removing 3 large trees and trimming 9 smaller trees. I got 3 bids, and his was the most reasonable. One Oak was diseased, requiring additional tests, photos, and emails to the city arborist. David took care of all the details. It’s very easy to communicate with the company, and Bobbi in the office returned calls and emails quickly. The job was a difficult one because the trees were close to the house and really close to fencing. They also ground two stumps. This crew of guys is obviously very experienced and works as a team. David owns all the equipment and trucks for big jobs like this one. All work and follow up was scheduled and completed on time. I will be using their tree service in the future and will not hesitate to recommend Serrano’s to friends and neighbors.

Serrano’s expert tree service were great. David W. and the team in Los Gatos were professional and responsible. We knew we were in good hands from the beginning to the end when we had two large Elm trees removed. Even couple months later, the office and Dave W. responded to us very fast with a solid advice when we had a question on landscaping at the site of the removed stumps. We felt well cared for as a customer.

A huge Monterey pine tree in our back yard suddenly started looking sick last fall, by January it was dead (beetles). We called many arborists, Serrano’s were one of the best, and gave us a competitive price. I am very glad we chose them. I couldn’t imagine how they were going to do it in a day and do it safely, they did and were very professional. The crew was amazing, and went the extra mile watching out for our neighbors yards as well. Big thumbs up.

Great experience: Chris came out and did an estimate, and then a week later the crew came. They did everything that had been agreed to, and then they cleaned up after. We are very pleased. The crew was very professional and very helpful.
I called Serrano’s as a result of a recommendation from our neighbor who is also a realtor. Serrano’s maintains the realtor’s property as well.
We will definitely call Serrano’s again.

These guys removed a 35 foot tree and also gridded out the tree stump.
I’m very impressed with there work and also to add they are very clean not even a branch on my front lawn.

Great experience with Dave and his team. They came in and were committed to my satisfaction. Expert work on my holly, loquat and avocado trees. Professional equipment, and when they left there was no sign they were ever there. Swept the leaves and sawdust, and took everything with them.

Checked out Serranos on Unilocal after seeing their 10% off ad in Home Concepts magazine. I needed to remove 3 tall birch trees from my fence-​enclosed townhouse backyard. It’s a relatively tight space with obstacles to maneuver around, including my new deck, gazebo, & latticework atop the fences. This was no ‘chip shot’, as branches had to be cut/​tied/​removed carefully. I was wary but just so ready to be done with these messy & overgrown trees whose life expectancy was waning.
From the beginning: receptionist Bobbi Jo responded to my message quicky; Chris came out & quoted me the lowest of my 3 estimates among highly-​rated tree service companies; then he even knocked a good chunk of $$ off the estimate if I decided to keep firewood from the 3 birches (I inquired)…in addition to the 10% off ad!
Scheduling was relatively easy given my busy schedule and the fact that I needed to be home to get them access to the backyard. The crew of 3 was cool and efficiently got after it. I watched (out of curiosity) quite a bit as they skillfully brought them down without any incident to aforementioned ‘damagable’ belongings. When I told them I was keeping the firewood they asked how long I wanted the logs to be and then cut them so I could fit them in the bins I’d set aside. Most impressively, they cleaned up really well, swept my deck, and left my neighbor’s yard unmolested despite needing to use it to clear many of the fallen branches. I was left with firewood and some unavoidable sawdust and a desire to recommend them to another neighbor who’d expressed some interest in having tree work done as well! Very happy…
Fast forward a few days, I came back from a long weekend away and had a note on my door from my neighbor behind me. He informed me there was some damage to his side gate & was curious if the ‘tree trimmers’ had mentioned anything about it? I called Serrano’s right away & David came out (at my earliest availability) & checked it out. This was an uncomfortable situation for me, being the ‘go-​between’ responsible for seeing to it that my neighbor (who is very reasonable) didn’t have inconvenience while questioning whether some damage may or may not have been caused by this company that really earned my respect with their great work. Ultimately, we will never know if the gate (which only opens one way) was bent by nature or by accident but David was VERY understanding and took it upon himself to remove the gate, take it, repair it, and re-​install it while refusing my offer to at least pay for materials. He said (quite good-​naturedly, given the circumstance): «That’s business»…
…and I guess it is.
Reliable, professional, accountable, and reasonable. I regret not having more arbor work for these guys. I HIGHLY recommend Serrano’s Tree Service.

I had Serrano’s come by to thin out an orange tree in my backyard. The team that came and took care of it did so in a professional and prompt manner. They were receptive to my suggestions and provided points/​counterpoints to do something or not. All in all, a very positive experience and would not hesitate to use them again or to refer them to friends.

After long time searching for a reliable tree removal service with a reasonable price, I was lucky to see by co-​accident the truck of Serrano on my way to the work. I called them and one hour later the owner (David) showed up on my house and gave me a quote with a very reasonable price. He explained me the job to be done and also advised me to ask for a permit from the city. After getting the permit, I scheduled an appointment and the Serrano“s team came to the house and did a great service. In the meantime I recommended him to one of my friend, who was also happy with their service too.
I would definitely recommend them to everyone.

The gentleman who came out to give us an estimate was nice enough & knowledgeable. I was given a verbal estimate to cut two trees on the side of our house and another verbal estimate to cut the three citrus trees in the back of the house. I decided to do both and was given a written estimate to do both jobs. The total estimate I was given was for both services and was advised the work would be completed in 10 days, and that they would leave an invoice I could mail in a check after the work was completed.
I waited the 10 days. No service. I called the office and the lady who I spoke with relayed to me that she didn’t know she was supposed to schedule our tree service; she would look at her other scheduled appointments and to find a time when she could get us in and call me back. I waited two days no call back from her. So I called again (she sounded perturbed that I was calling again) we set an appointment date for about another week and a half out.
On the day of the service, one of the workmen advised us that now (November) is not the time to cut the citrus trees and he recommended waiting until January. That leaves only the trees on the side of the house to be trimmed (Half the work which was originally quoted when my initial estimate was given). Mind you, we were verbally quoted a price for each set of trees, the two trees on the side of the house and the trees at the back of the house. Okay, so I figure the workmen know best and I’m open to his recommendation of waiting until January to cut the citrus trees. He (the onside workman) told us what the minimum fee would be and it was in-​line with what I was originally told for the two trees on the side of the house. However, just a few minutes after having this conversation with him I then get a phone call from the lady in the office telling me that it is unreasonable that they send 5 guys «all the way out there» just to cut two trees and she proceeded to give me a minimum that was higher than what the worker onside gave me. And in addition to that, she also told me that payment needed to be collected today onside following the completion of the job.
Now… Let me point out the home where the tree service is taking place is in San Jose and Serano’s Expert Tree Service business address is also in San Jose. So, I don’t understand her expression «All the way out there…»
In addition to that, it is their poor business planning if they sent five workmen guys out to do a job and then decide to only do half the work. That is their call, I was only following their «expert’s recommendation». I did not make the suggestion to them to only do half the work. If they feel November is not the time to trim the citrus trees they should have considered that when giving me an estimate and scheduling the job.
And lastly the payment issue. I was told by the guy who gave the estimate they would leave and invoice and I can mail in a check. The lady in the office tells me that is incorrect and that payment needed to be collected today after the work was completed.
The work is in progress… I may update my review based upon the quality of the completed work. But right now I’m a little disappointed in all the run around I feel I’m getting and because I’m getting one piece of information from the onside workers and varying information from the office.
So in the end they honored the original price for the quoted two trees on the side of the house, they left an invoice and I will mail in the payment and the work was done quickly and satisfactorily. Considering this, I’ve upgraded my original review one star.

I hired this service in April to trim our palm tree. They bid it out for a fair price, and unlike their competition, didn’t whine about distance (note to other vendors: if you don’t want to drive to San Jose, don’t advertise that you offer your services there.)
They did a good job, and best of all, actually enjoyed doing the job, which made it a pleasure to have done. Definitely give them a call if you need tree work done.

We had over 20 oleanders in our backyard, planted by the previous owner that were going wild. We decided to get them removed and had Serrano’s people come in based on the Unilocal reviews. They came in and chopped down the trees and ground the roots down with a machine.
At first it appeared to be well done and we even gave them a handsome gratuity. But a few days later we found out that they had broken a few irrigation lines. This ended up causing leaks that made parts of our lawn soggy, water logged and parts of it to dry out as they were not getting enough water. They also cut a few live electric wires in the process.
We were told by other tree removal folks we spoke to later on, that this was not the right way to remove tree. The right way is the hard way and the roots need to be dug out before being ground out with machine.

We have used Serrano’s tree service’s for years. Chris and his crew are great. His knowledge is mind boggling and he treats us very well. His crew and bidding process is very easy to understand and is complete from start to finish. I cannot recommend anyone better. If you hire them, you won’t be disappointed. First class operation.

Serrano’s Tree Service was first recommended to us a couple years ago and we contacted them regarding a dying tree. I’m not the type who believes in hiring the lowest bidder, as it’s burned me too many times and I believe we get what we pay for. However, Serrano’s Tree Service was very competitively priced — so much so that I was worried the service wouldn’t be up to par. I trusted my friend and was thrilled with the quality of service, professionalism and expertise that we brought them back for several other jobs. One of the jobs required that they had to move through the house — they were amazing! They took such care to not leave even a spec of dirt that you’d never know they’d been there. They also solved an urgent rat problem and were on site within a day.
They did an excellent job at removing our tree and helped with general landscaping. I would definitely recommend them, and will continue to personally use them.

A friend recommended Serrano’s to me for the removal of a dead avocado tree and a delicate job of removing bushes along a fence. For a very reasonable price, they took care of both, and couldn’t have been more friendly or professional as they went about their work. I’d use them again.

We now have the biggest and most beautiful Liquid Amber tree on our block. We first contracted Serrano’s Expert Tree Service a few years ago because during the summer heat, one of the branches split and fell. They were prompt, professional and cleaned up afterwards. They are insured and to me that is a real plus. We have continued to use to maintain all the trees we have AND we will continue to have the best looking tree on our street. I think it is because of Serrano’s Tree Service that our tree is so healthy! Great Job!

We actually did not use Serrano’s but I want to comment on the bid they prepared for us. We live in a townhome and our backyard is surrounded by a wall. We wanted trees out and they said they could only cut to grade and could not remove the roots. We got another quote from another company, and for HALF the price they would remove our trees and roots. They simply wheeled a stump grinder though our house. I cannot comment on Serrano’s work, but based off of their bid, I would not have high expectations.

We used Serrano’s to cut back our neighbor’s tree that hangs waaaay over the fenceline and blocks out all the sun, and to cut back our own birches that overhang our roof. They were on time for the estimate and the actual trimming appointment, price was reasonable, and they did a good job cutting everything back and hauling it away. We had some small debris afterward to rake up, but overall it was pretty cleaned up.
