Edward C Littlejohn, MD

Dr. Littlejohn performed a total knee replacement 3 ½ years ago and I now have enough knowledge from two orthopedists and an internist practicing in the same geographical area as Dr. Littlejohn to make this review. Why now? It is what I have learned and shortly I will have his work removed and a new prosthesis performed by another orthopedist.
He is regarded by his peers as a good orthopedist but he is known for testing/​adopting new knee prostheses which was my case back then.
The result was my knee swelled and has remained swollen to this day likely from his using this prosthesis. Surgery of this type should not be done with unproven prostheses.
Equally objectionable was his uncaring and unprofessional post surgery care. After a couple of aspirations and cortisone injections to reduce the swelling, Dr. Littlejohn made me aware I was on my own and washed his hands of my case.

Dr. Littlejohn performed a surgery on my knee by reconstructing my ACL. Could not have asked for a better result. By two days after the surgery I was able to walk without crutches. I know some my friends after a month weren’t able to do that, Highly recommended!

Had the total knee replacement performed by Dr. Littlejohn and I must say it is more than i had hoped for. I’m an aging jock who still likes to ride mountain bikes and dirt bikes for fun and health. 3 months to the day and I was back on the hills and I mean hills grinding up as hard as ever. In fact leg is actually stronger than before surgery, hmmm! must be the full range of motion i’ve regained.
I just hiked the full loop of Saratoga Gap trail with my wife. About 7 miles up and down hills.
I visited all the other doctors one by one and asked questions most indicated we might not be able to do this or that and we may not get all the bones spurs blah! blah! blah! Littlejohn said no problem I can fix it all.
This is a two part program. He does his half and I needed to do mine in rehabilitation.
You do that and you’ll have a great outcome. Each day it gets stronger and more flexible and I’m just loving it. I could blather on about this all day, buttom line is it workded out fantastic.

Excellent physician! He’s performed surgery to repair my husband’s rotator cuff injuries to both shoulders several years apart. We are so impressed by his knowledge and experience. He knows his stuff and has shared information about how skeletal composition and genetics can contribute to injuries, while discussing preventative measures to avoid joint injuries, and relayed all treatment options. He is a walking encyclopedia. Dr. Littlejohn has a great sense of humor and relates beautifully to his patients.
He and his staff were terrific pre-​, during, and post-​surgery. Everyone in his office has been fantastic.

My FP, Melissa Wu, also recommended Dr. Littlejohn for knee injections as I don’t want replacement until I am writhing in pain.
I had xrays done at Stanford but the doctor I was referred to only does surgeries NOT injections. This made me quite upset as it had been over a year since my last injection in Burbank and I didn’t want to fly down there three times for the next set — costing over $ 600 to for car/​flights.
Dr. Littllejohn was very professional, reviewed the xrays and said I could either wait for a bulk order of 10 patients for the injections or order it through a special pharmacy and get reimbursed by my insurance. I opted for the wait and have begun my injections. He also referred me to Dr. Tripta for PT and an EMG and Dr. Rosario for carpal tunnel and neck pain. I am fairly new to the area and wanted great referrals for specialists.
Dr. Littlejohn often speaks to doctors and other groups. He will be giving a lecture on joints af the Fairmont Hotel on February 12, 2011 which I will attend.
I am surprised that he did not have dozens of great Unilocal reviews but his patients are mostly elderly with knee or hip replacements that do not use the internet.
