Zen Dental

The staff is great but I didn’t have a good experience with Dr. Raschkovsky. She made various comments about Black people having different dental anatomy which irritated me. Even though it was really convenient to come to this office I won’t come here again. The halls and stores surrounding the office are also fairly worn down. However the office itself is pretty nice in contrast.

Just went in this morning to get my teeth cleaned and as usual I felt a bit ashamed because I’m a smoker and my mouth’s hygiene is .sub-​standard haha. To say the least; the doctor and staff are very welcoming and fun to be around and I’m comfortable in sharing what I believe to be a pretty intimate thing. (My mouth) they’re in the middle of downtown so it’s very convent if you work downtown to just walk over during a break and accomplish a task that my end up eating an entire work day. Much appreciated, and I’ll see you all again soon. Sorry for the creepy texts in the past, I was just joking; that’s my sense of humor. All the best!

Having just moved to Los Angeles and not knowing how to go about finding a reputable dentist — I did a quick Google search which lead me to Unilocal reviews and the Zen Lounge. The establishment is very well tended too and ALL the staff is amazing! I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled and Dr. Raschkovsky was able to make the experience, as painful as I found it, a laughable one and not so bad in the end. Being a new client, her welcome was warm and inviting and I am very glad that the Zen Lounge is my new dentistry! ALSO the complimentary lounge and massage chair is phenomenal and I was offered to it several times throughout my visit for upwards 15 mins at a time! Defiantly helped to calm my nervous after the operation.

I always go to Dr. Alessandra anytime I have an issue with my teeth. Thank you so much for fixing my chip just the way I wanted!

Great experience. I have gone to this office for many years and the experience keeps getting better and better. Attentive staff, constantly checking to make sure I was ok and in no pain. Dr. Allesandra is very on top of all the newest technology. Definitely worth the investment.

Dr. Alessandra Raschkovsky is so sweet! She’s always smiling and laughing, I love going to Zen Dental. I came here to inquire about Invisalign and they were so great, I signed up for it on the spot. They’re quick, efficient, and very open with you and explain everything. It’s located in a small suite in the California Market Center on the 2^nd floor but you don’t even feel like your in the market when in the dentist. Parking is terrible and all the surrounding lots are at the cheapest $ 10 but, my experience at Zen Dental is always above par.

For starters, I’ve been a patient at this location for 20+ years when Dr. Fogelman was the first dentist. When he retired, I continued to stay as a patient primarily for the convenience due to my work location. Today, I not only continue attending Zen Dental for the convenience, but I truly «love» Dr. Raschkovsky’s work as my dentist and her entire staff. They ALWAYS make me feel at home and handle my billing professionally! In addition, Dr. Raschkovsk is up-​to-​date with technology, which is a HUGE plus in today’s environment. For instance, I was able to watch a full movie using these cool goggles in the comfort of her chair while she worked on my teeth. I was blown away! I want to personally thank Alessandra and her entire staff at Zen Dental for the great work they have provided me, including my 23 year old son, who also has been a patient here since he was 2 years old!

This is a great place to find «Bed Side Care !!» The Zen Dental team really treats you like family!
The service, efficiency, and time frame when you need to get dental work done is top –notch and fast! Especially if you have to get back to work or in between appointments.
A customer service ex: I needed some help picking out insurance coverage for my teeth. Transitioning to new coverage, I was a little weary on what to pick, Dr. Alessandra R. was accessible for me when I needed a quick question about coverage plans– after hours .
Who does that, in Los Angeles???
Also her referral base to specialist when it came to my root canal was great ! It’s hard to trust people, in the city, coming from out-​of-​state.
Dr. Alessandra R. team really eased my concerns and created a trust that will allow me to continue to come back for future services.

First off, I ALWAYS FEAR going to the dentist, ever since I was a kid.
With that in mind, I cannot say how much Alessandra and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease during your visit. They have a great attitude, are genuinely concerned about your pain tolerance, and are willing to work out a payment plan for those more expensive visits.
I’ve gone here 7 or 8 times, and Zen Dental has been A+ consistently.

As always, another pleasant experience. Alessandra and the entire staff are like a mini extended family that get to catch up every six months or so. I look forward to going to see how everyone is doing so much that even when I cleaning is uncomfortable I still want to come back. Thank you for being awesome!

I absolutely loved my visit to Zen Dental! I wish I could remember my hygienist’s name because she was so sweet. Dr. Alessandra Raschkovsky was also incredibly kind. No one really enjoys going to the dentist, but this didn’t feel like a dentist appointment. Their waiting room was very relaxing (I guess you could say it was very Zen!). We had fun conversations and the whole experience was laid back and just really great.

First of all, these guys are located in fashion district in downtown LA, which means they’re paying high amount for their location. Therefore, you know that they’re going to charge more than other locations. When I first went in I gave them my PPO and got their confirmation that my teeth cleaning cost will be fully covered. Got my standard teeth cleaning and was told that they have to take my wisdom tooth out which they charge a whopping $ 1200 and was told that 80% will be covered by insurance, which would’ve cost me $ 300 – 400 from my pocket. I asked one of the nurses if that’s a standard rate and she said «that’s actually really cheap.» I left the place to see what other dentists will say. I went to a local dentist located outside of Los Angeles and got the wisdom tooth taken out and FULLY COVERED by insurance. When I told them a dentist in LA charges $ 1200, they were shocked. Also, they told me the standard rate for general teeth cleaning was around $ 100 and can go up to $ 200 if you need any special treatment. After a couple months, got a statement from zen dental for a balance of $ 280 out of which $ 40 was covered by insurance (total $ 320). Called up insurance and was told that they rejected two of their claims because I got the same examination and radiography done at the second dentist, which is my fault for not knowing that you can only get covered for radiography once in 3 years, and examination once in 6 months. As for the claim for the cleaning, insurance only covered 50% saying these guys claimed way over the standard amount. I understood that I have to pay for the two rejected claims, but being told that I have to pay for the cleaning despite getting confirmation that I won’t have to pay anything tells me that these guys are not honest when you first walk in. Oh, and the parking cost me $ 20.
Lesson learned:
1. DO NOT go to a dentist in Los Angles.
2. Choose your dentist wisely as changing your dentist after first examination can be costly.
The 1 star that I am unable to deduct is for Dr. Alessandra who was professional and a comedian. But knowing she’s probably behind the prices, I’m skeptical of her professionalism.
I would only recommend this place to a busy, unintelligent, impatient person located in Los Angeles who got a bunch of doughs to throw out.

I’ve had positive experiences here. I’ve been here through Dr. Jay, Dr. Lee, and now Dr. Alessandra. She’s very conscientious, does great work, and the specialists she’s referred me to have all been top notch.
She’s very pleasant to work with, and calls to make sure that everything is ok following procedures. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Alessandra and her staff are so friendly that you forget you’re at the dentist! They are so professional and they truly care about the patient. Pro-​tip: get there early to sit in the massage chair in the Zen Lounge. Its my favorite part of every visit. Would highly recommend Zen dental to anyone!

I’ve been coming to Zen Dental for the past 4 years, since Dr. Jay was in practice. Since almost 2 years ago (?), I’ve been seeing Dr. Raschkovsky, and she’s been so pleasant to work with. She’s very meticulous with her work and makes the visit as comfortable as possible. She really takes her time with you. What I also appreciate is they really try to work with your insurance to cover most or all of the expenses of the work I get done. The staff are all very welcoming and super attentive to me every time I am there. I can honestly say that my fear of dental visits have completed diminished since I started coming to this office and I would recommend Dr. Raschkovsky to anyone who’s unsure of her practice.

Dr. Raschkovsky is the absolute best. I was skeptical at first because the office is located in Downtown, but I am so glad I was wrong.
I had an amazing experience and definitely recommend her.

I’ve been coming to Zen Dental since Dr Jay owned the practice, and I really liked both dentists who replaced him, however my last appointment will be my final one with them.
The actual dental work at this place is great, but I felt I was misled with the billing of my last procedure. I came in for a cleaning, and ended up having an old filling replaced since Dr. Lee said it would be a quick and easy procedure. Before agreeing to it, I specifically asked what my out of pocket payment would be, and a staff member went to check with insurance, then quoted me $ 145. I paid in full, and left, a satisfied customer… that is, until a few weeks later when I received an additional bill for $ 142.
I thought it was a mistake, but when I called the office, the staff member said that Insurance only paid X amount, so I now owed that balance. I told her it was misleading to quote one number as an out of pocket cost on the day of the procedure, then come back two weeks later with an «actual» cost that is DOUBLE the original quote. There was a lot of back-​and-​forth, to which she kept saying «That’s how insurance works and everyone who has insurance knows that» which, just… no. She tried to appease me by cutting the number in half so that I would now only owe $ 71. I paid it just because I had no choice, but ultimately I feel duped and my only recourse is to no longer return as a customer of Zen Dental.
The staff member said a lot of people call with the same complaints, to which I think it’s obvious that they need to revise their procedure for quoting costs. If it’s only an «estimated» cost, they need to tell customers that, not expect them to just «know that’s how insurance is». Then again, if they did that customers might not agree to the procedure in the first place, which is maybe their angle.

THE BEST
Zen Dental is awesome. I have come in for a check up and to get cavities filled. Here’s how that went.
For my check-​up, they were running late on seeing me and invited me to wait in their zen lounge. The zen lounge is a dimly lit room with a massage chair and some relaxing music. Awesome! I waited in there until they were ready to see me.
The cleaning itself was very fast and not painful. It turned out that I have cavities so I had to return to get those filled. I got quoted the price for the cavities and I paid for my visit.
When I came back to get the cavities filled, my gums were completely numbed down so i didn’t feel anything. I also got to watch Netflix through screen googles. It made 40 minutes go by quickly!
Dr. Alessandra Raschkovsky called me that evening to check in personally to see how my teeth were and to see if I needed any adjustments to my fillings. I did so she saw my the next day in the morning and she adjusted the fillings so my bite felt comfortable again.
Overall, I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The doctor and her staff are fantastic.
