Yiwen Liu, DDS

Dr Liu is very kind Doctor and has gentlest hands on earth. I did my regular checking and cleaning here. A year ago my tooth filling ended up a tooth canal, it was done by another doctor. And Dr Liu fixed my problem without any pain and stress. And my teeth did not change color either. Alleluja!
All my family go Dr Liu as regular patients now. Highly recommend her. She loves your teeth more as you do. An care your feeling. Bless her!

There are two things that keep me from leaving LA: My mechanic & my Dentist. Not only is Dr. Lui the sweetest woman ever but she is extremely talented at what she does. You don’t even need to get pain shots when having cavities drilled because of how steady she is with a drill! I’ve been going to her for over six years now & can’t imagine my life without her. Guess I’m stuck in LA!

Dr. Liu is the best!
Here is why! She cares about her patients ! We even changed our medical plan to be able to come see her!
Inspections are very detailed — she never rushes — and the office staff is great — Reina is super alert to what is going on (and so is the Dr. Liu). There is no disconnect — you can talk to your doctor without being rushed! She explains things — and that helps getting better with teeth over time! I learned the habit of using a water pick — and have been improving ever since, thanks to Dr. Liu!
It’s a local, honest dental practice, that is not out for the upsale! A real doctor who cares about patients and dentistry! Thank you!!!

I’ve been coming to this place for the past 5+years because this is a very professional facility. Everyone is very professional and have great service. I don’t only come for myself but bring my children as well.

I was recommended this place by a friend 2.5 years ago, and I’ve been going back since. Dr. Liu is always very kind, efficient, and does great work. Her staff is attentive and easy to work with. Always happy to come in here for appointments!

I was one of those people who absolutely dreaded going to the dentist, until I found Dr. Liu. Due to my old aversion, I had not gone to a dentist for several years. Then my employer added dental benefits, and a couple of friends swore by Dr. Liu, so I gave her a try. I’m glad I did because she has reversed my fear of dentists and convinced me that regularly visiting a good dentist is essential. She also fixed a lot of dental issues I had as a result of avoiding dentists.
Things I appreciate about Dr. Liu:
(1) Dr. Liu is meticulous. (A lot of the other things on this list probably results from this.) The first time I had my teeth cleaned, I was surprised by how carefully she went over each tooth, unlike some dentists I had in the past who rushed through. She might take slightly longer, but you can be sure that she did not skimp to save time. I’ve also had fillings and night/​bite guards and crowns done by her, and with each of these things, she took her time, made sure the bite is comfortable, and spent ample time to make sure it’s done perfectly. She is very thorough.
(2) Dr. Liu is very nice and gentle. She’s friendly and puts me at ease, which helps this nervous patient to relax. She is also gentle. Again, I’m comparing to dentists I’ve had before, but Dr. Liu does not just yank on your face of shove her hands in your mouth. She’s very gentle and makes sure the patient is as comfortable as possible — a very important quality when she is literally up in your grill!
(3) The office is squeaky clean, from the reception area to the various rooms. None of the equipment ever look dusty or rusty. Tools are kept in sealed and sterile plastic packaging until they are opened for use on my teeth. Even the restroom is always clean.
(4) Dr. Liu and Reina the receptionist are friendly, thoughtful, and very accommodating. I get reminders in the mail for cleanings, and email reminders for upcoming appointments. When I’ve had to cancel last minute, they never give me a hard time. (I was originally referred by a friend who went to Dr. Liu on an emergency basis after slipping in the tub and chipping two front teeth. Dr. Liu fixed her up that very morning, and the repaired teeth looked so good that I didn’t even know they had been chipped until my friend told me.)
I hope this helps folks who are looking for a good dentist on the Westside or are skiddish about seeing a dentist in general. I even referred my sister, who also now sings Dr. Liu’s praise. I like Dr. Liu so much that even though I recently lost dental coverage, I still go to her and pay out of pocket. I don’t know if there are cheaper dentists out there, but I’d rather pay a bit more for someone I trust.
Finally, I rarely write reviews, but felt especially compelled to provide a detailed review after reading some of the bizarre and negative reviews that have been posted here. Dr. Liu is the only dentist that I have ever encountered at this office, I’ve never had or witnessed any hostile interactions between the staff and any of the patients, and the office has always been tidy and clean in the past 2 – 3 years that I’ve been going there.

Been going to Dr. Liu for routine checkup and teeth cleaning. I found the staff friendly and appointments were very easy to set up. In fact they are pretty persistent with the check up reminders, so it does keep me going back to them twice a year. The office is small and looks old from outside, but it doesn’t compromise what they do so I don’t mind.
Parking in their back lot can be challenging depending on the time of day, so I always park on the side street off of Venice and there is always a few spots around.

I would give a zero if Unilocal allows me to. I rarely write reviews but I really have to warn anyone who is interested in doing Invisalign with this office — DO NOT COME HERE.
Terrible experience with Dr Meng. She did terrible job on the IPR procedure, part of my tooth was chipped and the spaces are way wider than the previously agreed 0.5 mm. I was not sure how It was messed up but I know that night she was rushing it since I was the last patient and all the assistants left the office, no one was there helping with the suction or anything during the procedure! How could this even be happening?! I was very sad to see how my IPR turned out but I could not even reach out or go to her directly afterwards because she is only in Palms office location ONCE A MONTH! She totally did not clarify her limited availability before we started the treatment. When I finally got to see her in the office after one month, I discussed with her about my IPR condition, she IMMEDIATELY denied it has anything to do with her, even without looking into my mouth! What kind of doctor just assume she did a great job without investigating or listening to her patient?! She is very very incompetent and will even give you attitude.
I had the worst pain during my first aligner due to the fact that my wisdom teeth were not pulled and the
aligner somehow does not quite fit into my wisdom teeth. I was not able to see or talk to her right away, because all the other locations she works at (or at least the ones she told me I need to drive to) are more than 20 MILES AWAY. I was even told I will not be guaranteed to be seen and might pay extra for the office visit… With all kinds of the disappointment, I decided to switch to another doctor during the time i was still on my first aligner (3 times office visits including free consolation) I have already lost 2k down payment and they wanted to charge me 1000 dollars extra for the rest of the aligners for me to continue the treatment with the new doctor. I tried to negotiate the price for the aligners because I really think she DID NOT take care of her patient at all and it was literally a bad result from the IPR even at this early stage of my first tray! I spent hours on the phone and exchanging emails with Dr. Liu (not even with the orthodontist because she’s not there!) and her assistant but reached no consensus. On the day I was there to pick up the aligners and agreed to pay a «discounted» fee I got shouted by the staff saying that «GIVE HER THE ALIGNERS AND TELL HER FU** OFF. I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS S**T.» What kind of office letting their staff do this to any customer?! I will NOT recommend this doctor or this office to anybody and I will let everyone I know on earth this is the worst and terrible orthodontist I have ever seen.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Liu for over four years now and it has been great !! Reina and Dr. Liu have been awesome and my kids absolutely love it, normally kids are scared to go the dentist, but not with Dr. Liu. They are very friendly and easy going. two of them have gotten braces there and it has been pain free. i once had a very painful tooth ache and needed an extraction and Dr. Liu was able to see me right away. I would definitely recommend her to friends and family.

Been going here for years. Dr. Liu is friendly and professional and I always leave feeling great about my teeth! Plus, her assistant’s are super attentive and are always making sure to suck up the excess fluid so that my mouth doesn’t feel uncomfortable during any procedure. Parking is always super easy too. Love this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Today is my second visit to Dr. Liu, and everything went so well like last time. Dr. Liu is very gentle and patient; and she of course did a great job on cleaning my teeth. Smooth and no pain at all. This dental office also does phone reminder every half year to patients for regular check up, which is great for people like me.
Highly recommend and looking forward to my third visit to Dr. Liu half year later!

I’ve been going to Dr Liu with my family for almost 3 years! I chose Dr Liu based on her record of great Unilocal reviews and she did not disappoint. She has a small team of staff who, along with herself, are personable, approachable and helpful. Reina is amazing :) Let’s face it, nobody likes to visit the dentist, but Dr Liu’s dental practice is one of a kind. She is extremely gentle and considerate, which is especially important to me as a mother. My kids have no fears or worries when visiting the dentist and neither do I, knowing that they are in good hands! But most importantly, she is a great dentist, she takes her time and does the job right! She is thorough, fair and highly professional. Aside from the great service and pleasant staff at Dr Liu’s, the location is perfect, with free parking in the back, and a Culver city bus drop off and pick up on the corner of Venice and Sepulveda! Dr Liu’s dental practice also operates convenient hours, and includes a highly professional and efficient orthodontist! I would highly recommend Dr Liu to all.

I love Dr. LIU! The only reason I am leaving her office is because I’m moving out of state. I’ve never had to wait to be seen and I’m always happy with the service. Dr. Liu is very nice and definitely trustworthy. Her assistants are also nice and personable.

I’ve since referred a good friend to Dr. Liu and he not only loved the experience, but pointed out something really important! She’s very gentle and it makes a WORLD of difference. I only noticed that she does a very thorough job (which she’s does), but she’s also gentle. Kind of excited to go to the dentist this Thursday! Oh and if you don’t floss, you should start or you’re going to get and earful while you’re sitting helplessly in the dentist chair! Ha! I’m kidding Dr. Liu you’re awesome!

called to make an appointment to check up wisdom teeth.
Was told to jus come by, so I did. The place was really busy so I didnt know how I could possibly be seen.
Waited for 20 mins, and than a nurse took a xray of me, than the dentist spent literally less than 2mins to look at my xray, told me she was not able to do anything (btw before I came, I already clearly told her my wisdom teeth were impacted) and let me go. Over $ 110 was charged!
Dr.Liu! despite of how good your skill could be since I did not really experience any, ur really a greedy person. FYI: if your an international students, call to make sure she would really spend some appropriate time to look at your issue before you go there. Dun get fooled!

Wonderful. Outside of building looks a little lowbrow but inside is spotless. Lovely dentist, very honest and respectful. Dental assistant is really nice and very professional. Couch in waiting room is amazing and all magazines are current. Bummer is, you won’t get to enjoy for long as wait time for Dr is non-​existent!

It was by far the most through check-​up I ever had.
She checked the status of my wisdom teeth, too, and showed the cavities on video camera.
Efficient and professional, highly recommend her.

I can say after seeing Dr. Liu twice, that she is not only an excellent doctor, she is the most honest professional I’ve ever met.
It took me a while until I could find a dentist who I could trust. Many tell you to do things that are unnecessary, painful and super expensive. In my case, I saw two different doctors before I met Dr. Liu. I’m really happy to have found someone that explains in detail what you have and what you need.

I hate going to the dentist, but my experience with Dr. Yiwen was FANTASTIC and I will absolutely be going back. Very kind staff that truly seemed to care about my comfort and well-​being throughout the entire process.
Before my cleaning (it had been a few years… yikes) I told Dr. Yiwen and her assistant how nervous I get at dentist offices, and both went out of their way to keep me calm and comfortable. Dr. Yiwen was easy to talk to, answered all my questions, and never once gave me that «judged» feeling I always get at dentist visits.
